Sol Survivor - Your Evacuation Runner Ship

Oh, an now I am stuck with a pile of occupied rescue pods I cant hand over at the destination.
The classic solution to this problem would have been to sacrifice them to a black hole, preferrably Sgr A*. Nowadays, there's also a certain creepy engineer in Colonia who likes them for his experiments. If that's too far, feed them to the Thargoids. From your description, they had it coming.

Regarding Colonia - if you really want to get rid of them without putting too much of a load on your conscience, you could ask in the Fleet Carrier Owner's Discord if anyone is going out to Colonia in the near future and wants to take them along.

The instability IS going well

Made the mistake and switched from my Imperial Clipper to T8. It went all down the hill from there. On top of that, I had to pay over 1 mill in fees. LOL. I guess I have to pick up my good old Juicer and go scan few DNA samples now. It's also relaxing and views are nice.

Add for the local bulletin board: I would like to join a fraction hell bent of slaughtering Sol fractions.

I was running a Beluga for a while, but decided to try out a small, fast, cool build of a Mandalay instead. Only 44 Eco 'seats', but Thargoids are not an issue.

Mandalay Build out of bits in storage...

Actually runs at 14% heat on thrusters in game.

You should remove the fuel scoop and put another C5 cabin. You don’t need to scoop fuel if you’re going between Sol and the rescue ship.

It's quite amusing that there are some refugees who want first-class cabins. :)

My experience is those folks have a good chance of offering 16-20 G4-G5 mats. Since I am a bit short, especially on encoded, I've made room for 2x12 first class cabins plus 96 economy class seats.

Although it does make me notice that there are some who want luxury cabins, not even satisfied with first class. Can't even see what they are offering. Might have to see if I can throw an Orca together quickly and find out...

Screw the Sol and their fractions of degenerates. I am so fed up with dealing with those tiny idiotic fees that waste so much time because of bugs. Let them burn... where is my fiddle.

Enough time waste.
If all else fails abandon the mission and process the pods via the black market on the rescue ship.

How do you avoid Thargoid limpets with this setup?
T8 is not fast enough to just run.
I discharge a heat sink and hit a booster right away. I still take the first limpet hit and have to wait for my FSD to reboot. I stay on the boost while I'm waiting, maintaining 470-480 kps (grade 5 dirty drag drives, 4 pips in engine, 2 in system). The recharge time between boosts is enough to keep the heat down in the mid forties. I jump as soon as the FSD is ready and hit another heat sink. The hunters send more limpets at that point, but it's too late. Twice the hunters have intercepted me while I ran and opened fire, but they haven't breached my shields. Once they hit me with two other limpets, but they went for weapon systems and not the engines or FSD. Usually, though, it's just the first limpet, and then I'm running cold and fast(-ish), and the hunters just follow behind (or wander around looking for my thermal signature maybe, I haven't ever fiddled with cameras to see what exactly they're doing, I've just bugged out).

Good to know. I'll try that. Currently I went for a really simple "strategy" using Krait MkII: Pick up few canisters of insured from the mission, use ECM in quick bursts to get TG limpets off (somehow they still take may cans *), if this happens, kill all TharGoids, light my 2rse in fire to burn off the acid they spew while exploding, pick up the cans and if there is time, materials too, take off, $$$.
* - I think they get the popsicles while Thargoid zaps me and ECM refuses to reload.

Started with the BELUGA, runs a bit hot, lost 3 passengers before I fitted 2 ECM's, (First time i have used them since 1986), with my 2 Alt CMDR's went straight to Shieldless CUTTER's, done about 12/14 missions between them, Zero losses, or fines, found it best to get a weave on, boost out of the station when you reach half way out, no scans, on being interdicted, boost, boost, boost, ECM the first Missile, wait abit for the second, by then you should be home free, I find the Evac to be quite an enjoyable bit of R&R for a change, still can't wait for some propper Bug Bashing though.

All ships fitted with Economy Cabins, once rep has built up, I top out the missions before I run out of cabin space, also visit a different Station each run, best way to get 24 missions available.

07 Happy Evac.

2 ECMs is the way, with heatsinks if you have a hot ship. I use this combination in a Beluga and have done a couple of dozen runs with no losses. I just hold down the ECM key as soon as I see "Incoming Missile", drop heat sinks to keep things cool and boost until I can re-engage the FSD. Works every time.

Started with the iCutter right away, shieldless, military armor and HRMs in the military slots, all G5. Always had illegal passengers, never a single one lost to the goids. However, I was never able to get more than 20 missions, always get a dialog rejecting #21, even if there's still room. How did you manage to get 24?

You don’t. I’m pretty sure there’s a 20 mission limit.

Nice build, but you don't need a Fuel Scoop for this one. Leave it on Cornwallis and put in E5 Economy cabin, 16 passengers more :)
Bring back Fuel Scoop once you deliver your last group before the fighting stage on Thursday.

Agreed. I had planned to drop it for another 16 seats, tbh. I just get paranoid without fuel scoops. :)

Edit: As an aside, this build can also run at about 15% heat in standard SC. The Mandalay is a very cool ship in many ways...

I assumed at first they were interceptors. Once I realized they were hunters, I became tempted to put a passenger cabin in a Krait Mk II and try standing and fighting for a change of speed. I can't take an interceptor and found trying to learn how too expensive and frustrating for my taste, but hunters without interceptors are a much more winnable fight for me. I haven't been able to pass up the money and fat material rewards for filling up the T8, though.

As said there is a 20 mission hard limit for your ship, at the station, once you have repped up, there seems to be a max of 24 missions to choose from, in each type, I only do group missions, taking the rep missions first then switch to credits.

A single CYCLOPS is quite doable in a KRAITE MKII with AXMC's, you will still take a beating, I never use what I call the exotic builds, It's an off the shelf build for me most of the time, crash, bang, wollop, win some lose some.

Are Point Defences any use against the Thargoid missiles and "limpets"?

In my experience, no. Two PD's didn't prevent the missiles from interrupting my FSD or the limpets from stealing my rescue pods. Note that my rescue ship's top speed is +387 only (boosted). On the other hand ECMs do work (you need two of them) and heatsinks also help.
Spot on, cheers buddy. I was going to swap the shield boosters on my Type-7 for ECM's and PD's, but I'll chuck some heat-sinks on instead.
