Poll not showing the result you expected, huh, OP?

Only people who matter in this type of poll are the one's with server statistics showing trends and how various game parameters influence them.....

If solo and offline do start to kill the game expect ED to stop them, if the reverse then the opposite.

A poll in here just imo attracts a very "skewed" result

Id like to know how many ppl think that solo modeand private group will kill this game?

Another ill thought out attempt ro force FD to change the game by poll (which again is backfiring on the OP.

It also shows a misunderstanding of the complexities of the grouping system (there are not just two modes, there are a massive range of grouos from a single player, through small groups, massive groups (with 1000's of players) and up to the all group. There are also blocked/ignored players.

All wrapped up in some sense of unfairness or the need to force players into open where they can be preyed up on.

Why not just leave people to play the way they want as thecsystem is designed to do.

How many cry baby complaining thread do we need? if it isn't this, its the FPS expansion or the lack of realism in in s sci-fi game of all things. Or when someone comes up with an idea people trip about how it wasn't in the old 90s game. Geez, some of you guys need to have more faith in this game. It's elite DANGEROUS not elite, pat you on the back and give you a foot massage because your too scared to fight other players. My goodness, the only thing that will kill this game is the amount of crying and faith. This game is 100% awesome, i don't get why people have to make all these thread trashing it.

The rule is, that once you have a Poll on the subject, that it can never be discussed again in the forums.

everyone agreed?

ps - I have been playing in 'open' since release, never thought I would, but I like it! ;)

Polls, forums and any form social interaction only (mostly ?) matter for people interested in them making this recurring poll pointless since those playing alone will most likely not vote because they don't want to talk/post/play with you (or me or anyone for the matter).

The only mode that kills the game really is Open PvP Mode.

There are already Private groups that do exactly this with no problems, again it's all forum discussion on solving a problem that doesn't exist often created by people who aren't actually playing the game.

What criteria would indicate the death of the game? In a scenario where most players play solo and groups then that may simply indicate that open is not attractive to them - that's not the game dying - that may simply be a reaction to a lack of meaningful consequences for attacks on players.

The poll indicates that the self-selected participants are fairly heavily in the "No" camp rather than the "Yes" camp. If the result had been the other way around would you still consider the poll to be skewed?

Any poll in here is representative of the minority of players only and is automatically skewed. We're the noisy minority in here.

Hasn't that already happened? Really mate just move out of the federal default systems near Sol and you'll notice that there are very few players around. I've spend whole free week wandering around empire territory and haven't met dozen of players. WHOLE WEEK and not even 12 of them after moving out of the LHS3447 and surroundings! Could be bad luck. Even tho, half of them were only on their way to system with event in it, because curiosity of internal battle lured them out of that. Realize that even those, who would like to stay in Open play, will switch to solo because simply there are not enough docking pads on outpost. They won't explore and search for better trade route. Why? Because they DON'T HAVE to, the good trade is right here, same place just switch to menu and boom! jackpot!

THIS IS DULL!
It seems that it's dull for you because you're only interested in meeting other players. I will take on whatever is put in front of me, I don't care whether they are player or NPC.

I don't care how any ship I meet got there, I'm playing my game and will interact with them (or not) as I wish.

Not until there is a poll on it ;)

Nothing. Nothing noticable. Some went exploring just to return and get money. Some grind trading/killing NPC's.

Tell me my friend. What actually happen in game already? I mean. Despite that meaningless internal war in very few systems which was mostly fought between BOTS. What did players achieve? OK few found Voyager space probe I'll give you that. Plenty killed generic General Randomname in his Anaconda which has no impact on anything whatsoever. No real impact on economy. Well actually nothing happend. No alliances have formed. No famous pirates have risen. Nothing had been built and nothing will be. Game which is focused on unit makes it remain anonymous as game remains pointless. Some will get Elite status on their window screens. Is that point of the game? To get some statistics? I thought this game is about experiencing things, not getting them.

What does any game achieve?

If I picked up my kid's Nintendo DS and played a few rounds of Pokemon... are the people who voted 'Yes' going to come after me with burning torches and pitchforks?

Come on folks, this whole issue started to stink like something dug up a long time ago. There is no compromise position here, you either like the design or you don't but what is undeniable is that this was a carefully considered design decision by a team who have clearly stated that they are making the game they want to play. Those who don't like the ability to switch between modes will at some point have to make their own decision as to whether this is something that detracts from the game so much for them that they have to quit and move on because IT ISN'T GOING TO CHANGE.

Time to move on.
