Some feedback on Multi-Limpet Controllers

Been trying to find a rundown of what the different controllers do.

Can anyone provide some info on the specific function combos?
There's a table here:

Only the biggest ship can fit it anyway. The C7 is fine. The C3s are absurd, and typical FD. Dont play their own game, don't know how it should be used, dont ask players for input and don't test their designs.
Well put, Sir!
On top, FDev confuse power creep and quality of life. They happily allowed power creep in its worst form, leading to minute-long battles, yet scream blue murder at things that would not disadvantage anybody, but would make life easier.

Either this game was designed for masochists (by sadists), or they, as you have put so succinctly, don't play their own game -- or at least not without certain modifications/tools paying customers have no access to.

Edit: FDev's Eleventh Commandment is, apparently, "Thou shalt not enjoy thyself without tears, salt, and sweat." ;)

I just wish the Univ ones got some decent life spawn, considering that ridiculous weight... The 7A7A limpets last less than normal, 7 A
The same goes for 3 class, less lifetime than "normal" class 3...

I only found a practical use for Multi mining class III as PROSPECTORS since they can fire 4 instead of only 2 prospectors for that class, and the 7A7A Univ in big 3 - since you can help, sometimes, those poor NPC ambushed by evil pirates :p ( repair & refuel them) ; Also I use them in my combat Vette - she does not care about extra weight, on contrary, she does the ramming a bit better with those extra tones.

The cost is more weight, the benefit is getting two empty module slots back to use for other things. Sometimes the benefit to you will be enough to bear the cost of reduced jump range, etc., sometimes it won't and you'll make do with fitting less modules in your ship.
The new class 3 modules weigh 40t, 52t, 66t up to 80t. Only class 7 (single) controllers weigh that much. The current class 3 multi controllers weigh at least five times more than a class 3 B (single) controller (8t), up to ten times more in case of the heaviest (class 3 E Mining Multi Limpet Controller).

My point is that trying to "balance" the advantages of the new controllers via making them that much heavier than any other class 3 module in game is implausible. I know it’s a game. But this breaks any in-game logic. How can these modules weigh that much if they fit in a class 3 slot? If you think they need balancing a non combat module, there must be a better way.

Especially as it is prohibitive regarding speed, maneuverabilty and jumprange in smaller ships, which should make the most of those with a reasonable weight.

One option I'm impressed by: 4 research limpets from a size 3 slot. The only research controllers so far were size 1 with 1 limpet. Getting Thargoid bits is going to become a lot more efficient (and there hasn't been a CG for some time...)

Recon limpets... I don't think I've ever used one. What do they do?

Hacking megaship datapoints.

The servers are down for a hotfix to fix the crashing bugs and problems with firegroups etc.
On the release notes we have "Multi Limpet controllers having more mass than Commanders expected" in the section talking about other issues being looked at, but not part of the hotfix being deployed to servers right now.

Thats... oddly specific wording, as it doesnt rule out it being a deliberate design choice.

Yes, quite. Could be deliberate, could be a mistake - they're not saying.

Yea, that open communication promise is slipping away by degree's.
I believe they said they were looking for feedback on it. That's why I started this thread, and I think the consensus is that at the very least the weight needs to go down. I hope that they do, plus allowing them to be engineered.
