Some good thoughts on Passengers

I tend to like how the passengers elements are rolling out. Simple, and piloting focused.

Personally, I'm not to interested in the idea of reading flavor text for every passenger before I fly, or having some text dialog chat with NPCs. Or hearing from them asking me to turn on the radio, or to pour their drinks, etc.

My Flight Attendant Crew should handle any needs of my passengers.

If anything, the Crew Lounge area could be expanded in the future to allow me to hire a Flight Attendant crews. These could have varying skill levels, could increase in skill with time, and that skill would have influence on the satisfaction of passengers in either 1st class or Luxury Suites. I don't think bulk economy level passengers would care about service quality as much.

I think that it was mentioned that at start, passengers won't be bothered by things like flying the ship roughly. But in the future, this might be interesting to add for 1st class and VIP passengers. Perhaps a G-meter on the main HUD, so I can ease the steepness of turns/acceleration/deceleration, etc. Then the moment of truth after arrival when any complaints are reported.

Ever tried fsPassengers? to have just some of the immersive and gameplay mechanics from that would be great.

I'm still hoping we get something from FE2. Higher paying passengers sometimes had a less than honorable reason for offering you loadsofmoney.

It would add spice to a mission if your high paying tourist turned out to be on the run from a major faction and you had to fight your way to your destination.

I agree with you about having a flight crew to take care of most passenger needs.
But there is a good opportunity for side missions. Basic mission detours to supply some onionhead for a rock star or old smokey for a businessman, or even complex new missions because a VIP is actually a wanted crime lord.

I'm expecting that VIP passenger missions could often become quite hazardous, so I have upgraded my Orca with this in mind.

No, I never did try it. The videos didn't grab me back in the day. I flew mostly US domestic airliner and commuter routes in FS9 and FSX in those days. The most I cared to know about my passengers was their weight, for adjusting my fuel and center of gravity, during preflight.

I'd enjoy VIP "party" trips, in which the VIP needs to stop at 1 or 2 systems/stations to pick up friends. Then the assembled party will then travel together to their destination. This could be done for VIP parties in the category of family groups events (weddings), celebrities, business executive groups, civilian/social clubs (maybe shady), military brass meetings (could be targets!).

And absolutely yes on the suspect high paying VIP missions. And I'd like more if those missions didn't always have a clear tip-off that things may be shady. Maybe just learning to use some judgement here and there, when pay/circumstances seem odd.

I will reserve my final judgement until the beta arrives. Even the devs admitted that what we were seeing on the screen was still placeholder graphics.

If we get avatars for our bulk passengers, better visual representation of the cabins, having population movements impacting on system state-& vice versa, & if even bulk passenger missions have various wrinkles that can impact them (for better or worse), then I will be very happy.

I think his expectations for passenger missions are completely unrealistic.
Managing stewardesses and inflight entertainment?
It would be nice if we could eventually hire stewards/stewardesses, or even entertainers to take care of passengers.
This could be part of a general crew management system in which you hire stewards, mechanics, co-pilots etc.

But assigning them to specific tasks like pouring drinks and foods is absurdly detailed.
Or detailed management like prioritizing the care for certain passengers etc.
I think these are all terrible ideas for a game like this. I hope FD will never go that far.

I would like to have to stock food and and drinks for passengers.
But this stuff should simply be a requirement to have on board to keep them happy. No detailed management please.

Passengers, unfortunately, were not even a 'headline' for a major point update, so that was purely unrealistic to expect some cool features with them. Of course, the final judgement will be done when it's released.

Food/drinks restock would be nice (seems quite strange though, to serve food on 10-25 mins trips). Some airline NPC companies would be nice. Some passenger load/unload (actually cargo too, we have those cranes on stations for a reason) - would be a great thing to have. But most likely we won't be having it, at least, this year.

He's referring to fsPassengers, a add-on for FSX flight SIM, you have some small interactions, like fasten seat belt and so on, also you hear the Cabin crew talk and do the safety talk, great for immersion.
