Some Reality Facts

I could never eat 350 whole trees, at least not before I go to bed.
Spilt atoms from water via water worlds...,all good.

Actually in a closed environment, such as the space station, they are called oxygen scrubbers. I won't bore you with the details, instead i'll let you look them up yourselves. Last pictures from the space station I saw there weren't any trees, yet its been up there for how many years?

A one person needs 350 full grown trees in order to get enough oxygen for breathing and food for eating.

Oxygen is the third most abundant element in the universe. Now that we have ice rings, we should be fine.

Oh, and we have synthetic meat and food cartridges. Flavor is not required, right?

This is also a fact on planet Earth. This a one planet we currently live on can hold around 10 billion people before the atmosphere becomes quickly toxic by carbon dioxide... We will suffocate one by one very soon if we do not get birth ratio in control. So... Shall we think how to survive? Shall we continue deforestation? I think we don't have room for that since every 350 trees we cut down we literally kill a one person. - Have fun figuring this out.

Well, when the ocean levels rise and all the places that are already hot become completely unlivable, there's going to be a lot of wars, so there's that.

Ironically, you are the one in need of a reminder of how reality works.

That sounds cheekier than I mean it to sound.

In any case, ED takes place in the future. If you endeavor to criticize a portrayal of the future using modern technological limitations, then you're going to 1. be disappointed, and 2. be wrong.

I don't agree with OP either, but one thing - you're basing your remark as if 3301 ED-universe was more technologically advanced than 21st century RL.

Which it clearly isn't based on what we see and are limited to in game. Sensors that can't scan more than a 17th century sailing ship? And I'm not talking about perhaps enemy ships have 'stealth' built in - I'm saying we can't scan and see inanimate objects just off our limited screens.

Weapons that amount to sailing ship broadsides range? No electronic storage of data and couriers for banking, transfers, etc?

Clearly there are tech or roleplay limits because there are lots of things in 3301 ED that is bizarrely primitive even by 21st century tech standards. Again, don't agree with OP, but it is not unreasonable to think for same reason ED somehow lost any tech or notion for inter-system banking to happen, they can't or won't have re-oxygenization tech either.

Plant 300 Life Trees

These are for you and for the future generations.

There are 3 040 000 000 000 trees on the planet Earth. This is barely enough to sustain 10 billion people alive in reality. We are closer to the edge every year. We must fix this before it is too late for us. We can't wait another decade.

Every single person needs not less than 22 trees and 700 green plants just to produce enough oxygen for breathing.

Every single person needs to eat and to live a modern lifestyle and this takes not less than 300 trees and over 700 green plants to produce enough oxygen to sustain natural life around us. We need to sustain all the nature around us to get food and to stay alive.

When a child is born, take the entire family to forests and plant 22 trees around. Give these trees names and picture them to your children. These trees are his or her life trees for oxygen.

Teach everyone to plant 10 trees every year to sustain life on this planet. Go out into forests and pick up local tree seeds and plant them to grow the forests back. This is quite easy and doesn't cost much. Be responsible!

There are others who are destroying forests. Teach them to stop and they also need to fix the damage they have done.

Teach everyone to understand all the reasons why we need the nature to survive and why it is not going to survive unless we will do this by ourselves. We live in the nature.

The air we breath is not free. It is cleaned to us by forests. We need to sustain the green source of it to keep the air fresh and to have oxygen. We can not rely on others to do this. This is task for your lifetime. It is a one master reason for life.

You are responsible for all the nature around you because you need to breath and to eat. Living in the industrial modern world have made you forget these simple facts. Forests may be very far away to your standards, but you breath the air made in them where ever you are. You live because the forests make your oxygen for you. Without the forests there are nobody alive.

Shall we dance now with some reality facts?

I am glad we live in real world and everyone can see what is going on. I hope that this Elite space system will spare our own real life while we forget "The real world" around us.
Yes indeed. My word is based on hard core studies not in game imaginary engines. I am trying to say that space stations don't provide enough oxygen unless it is taken there. It is not produced there.

Yes there is 6 people on ISS but where does that air come from? - Indeed it has been transported there. If you want to stay in space for longer period of time you need to maintain the oxygen level mechanically by transport or to produce it in the station. But be careful how you laugh at the physical facts... You need those 300 plants to survive in long term space stations which do not have that luxury of atmosphere by nature.

Ha ha ha back at you. Let's laugh together right now. In sweet harmony....

Go on Laugh =) I am happy that you laugh when you look at google and type, how many trees a human needs to get enough oxygen. The exact answer is 22, but you forget... That is ONLY the AIR you breath.

There are currently six people on the ISS. How many trees?

Don't forget that in the Elite Universe energy is cheap, the energy required for hyperspace is Quite A Lot and there must be some form of fusion reactor driving it. Seeing as a tree is basically a machine that turns CO2, H2O, and a few minerals into wood and O2 (some fix N2 as well) you can make the machine independently, but remove the wood by-product.

Food can be 'recycled' by adding back the bits your body took out, or simply via a combination of growing it or importing it. Additive food printers seem to be in use (food cartridges), and we ship them around.

Yep.. I though this game aims toward "realism" as far as possible... How many days would those 6 survive on the ISS without having continuous flow of transported oxygen to the station? - Answer would be around 2 days.
Where does ISS get oxygen? - I guess it is not from the ISS. - Technically ISS is open system.

Technically you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Go away, and study some actual science.

We steal all the oxygen we need from other planets.

This idea makes as much sense as the <pick a kinder word than I did> original post.

Who needs scientific rigour when you can get 'reality facts' of this quality, straight off the internets? ;)
