Facts actually have the potential for fantastic science fiction stories. Much science fiction takes facts and extends them into the future by making predictions on them.
Hard Science Fiction tends to use some science fact to make a story more believable, take 2001 and 2010 By AC Clark. He even predicted satellites before sputnik was even launched. The next big step will be in Ai and lets hope it doesn't go the way of Asimov's predictions [where is it]
