[LFG] Somebody who enjoys being in character looking for people to chat and group up with; Or, are there role-players in this corner of space?

Hello reader,

Let me give a few more details on why I am making this thread and allow me to introduce myself.

To start with the second topic.
I'm a woman in her early thirties and have been chronically online since my house got dial-up back in the late 90's. I'm a rather relaxed person (oh what age does to us) who enjoys reading, philopshy and films. During my time on the net I've spent my years writing collaboratively works and role-played on forums till games like World of Warcraft and Star Wars the Old Republic took center stage for such fun. Those activities left my life as other things took center stage. But I do miss role-play.
The past years I've dabbled into Elite Dangerous here and there, but never committed myself as deeply as I would have liked to. Things in my life have changed and I find myself with time on my hands. Along with a craving. I've been browsing Inara and been inspired by people's logs, and come to realize there is a lot of potential to hang out with people in this game. Or at least, to write together and develop characters through little bars of text in the corner of the screen, voice calls and other communication. (I've had some wonderful conversations with people in game through the comms)

Which leads me to the second, and main topic of this thread.
I'm looking for a squadron, faction or just group of people who enjoy roleplaying. I'm imagining sharing captain logs, writing in character messages using the in game comms as if it were some kind of intergalactic ham-radio network, or perhaps hanging out in group Discord calls. Talking about adventures in space while using commander handles and giving glimpses into backstories of people who have spent their whole lives out there in the void.
Perhaps your group organises events? Group explorations, battles for domination in a region, or are a bunch of rogues trying to slice some credits out of a smaller colonies. "Keep an eye on the door, I am burning the lock, over." "Eyes on the horizon, I saw movement near that docking station. Let's blast those Federation scum." "Engines off, let's wait in darkness as that xeno slips by" "Did you scan that plant? Your data yesterday was useless" etc.
I am open for it all, and the setting doesn't matter too much to me. As long as roleplay is at the core of the experience. My character is new in this world, so it's easy for her to fit in anywhere. Maybe you ain't that heavy on roleplay in your group, but it's just a part of your community or a corner of it? That's also fine, I just love meeting people who enjoy exploring games this way.

I'm aware this is a bit of an ask from the internet, but I've come to learn there are many magical communities out here. So if you read this and think you know a place I may fit, feel free to respond in this thread, or even better, send me a direct message. No matter how long ago this post was flung into the web before you read this, I am sure I will want to hear from you.

Have a wonderful day and may we meet in space.

My squadron Fellowship of the Nomads is small squadron trying to grow. We have a discord. Our background is we have no home system or player minor faction just roam the galaxy looking for missions and adventures. The squadron is based on team work and helping each other. Interested? Search FELO in the squadrons tab and apply. Give us a try and see what we can come up with.

There are a few of us the do light RP in supporting Aegis. There are some others who do some RPing here.

If you really want to steep yourself into Elite lore and do more RP I know of a few other groups like the ACA who also enjoy the RP aspect.

Stop by and check us out, if the Aegis bit is not your style there are a few other groups who RP and do character logs that you might click with.

I played at release for a bit but never got the hook in me and feeling the urge to come back and do something similar with RP. I plan on restarting my character and just letting them develop however they do.

Hope you find some good RP people out there, and if you do, please let us know!

Hello CMDR Dana Sonmi,

The Revolutionary Liberation Army provides room for roleplay-oriented people. The primary focus of the squadron is influencing the background simulation, however, there's a lot of room for roleplay. To give you one concrete example, we have an office whose focus is media presence, so it would mostly consist of providing the public facing reports, which, you could write according to your desires. Needless to say, you can also write your own logbooks on INARA and chatter in-game.

Personally, it's a new squadron currently in the build-up phase, so do consider that too. It has a lot of potential if you think about it in that sense. In terms of activity, I have a fulltime job so at the moment, should you be in UTC +1 -ish timezone, we can wing up during the weekends. I am a veteran of the game and can help you explore the game.

Should you pick something else, thats fine too. It is in the end for the greater good that we find somewhere where we can be happy.

Cheers,

Greetings Dana,
I am CMDR MagnificentMelkior, and I am in a similar position as yourself having been a player who primarily does PVP and Roleplaying in MMOs (WoW, ESO, Guild Wars, Conan) but I have yet to engage heavily in either of those here in Elite.
I'm currently flying with an Imperial squadron, but in terms of roleplay my character has a lot of flexibility still in how he could interact with other people. If you'd be interested in writing together, feel free to DM me here or on discord (username: "querant.") to coordinate further.
