"Something for the ladies" - Feminine versions of rank titles please?

Few people do because it's not in the game much at all, unless you really go digging.

But it's a silly argument. Yes, she is an "Emperor" and there was a debate about it in-game. But there's a Princess, too.

I honestly didn't know any of this - well except for the Princess part...

Eh, a difference of opinion, something we all have here on the forum.

While I agree with the OP, I personally think that asking the developers to change the ranking system is asinine. We have much bigger fish in need of frying right now.

Much bigger. But if there is reason for it and it's just a small cosmetic change, then I wouldn't pitch a fit about it. Personally I have no dog in the fight.

My wife said she will start playing if she can be Comanderette.

[haha]

Well, since apparently we don't care about gender how about we switch Empire ranks to the female versions?

Personally, I don't mind that at all (as can be seen...). Though if this is actually about equality, then the ranks should be split evenly between genders, and you'd then have to have the discussion about what to do about those who don't want to identify to a gender at all...

I'm an attack helicopter.

Where is my recognition?

As much as it's funny, I don't think it's fair to dismiss people who don't want to identify as any particular gender like that. I mean not everyone wants to have to chose a gender and deal with the implications of that in a game that has very little reason to do that.

Holo-me made me uncomfortable and the idea of having gendered titles does too. The idea of the title being linked to the gender of your holo-me makes me a little more uncomfortable tbh and I'm likely to just avoid that faction now really. Though at the same time I can imagine that the group of people that would have an issue with that is so small that nobody would notice. Still, I think it would just be better to swap out the titles for gender neutral ones.

Don't expect gender or race to not be a topic for the foreseeable future. We have a long way to go yet to move past these things.

As can be seen by many of the answers in this thread...

Me? As far as I am concerned, anyone can call me anything they like. It is how they say it and the real meaning behind the words that will decide how I take what they say. My friends and I refer to each other using words that would certainly get us into trouble in public...

Probably all avoiding you.

Comes an age in every mans life where he doesn't get attacked by hen party's
I walked past one the other day several times and not even a peck, so maybe I
should take some glasses next time, they had eye trouble.

I saw one later on in the day and didn't want to bother them. prob distracted taking pictures
like the other hens.

(just a joke ok, I know I'm half way ing hole by now) ;)
Have a good weekend CMDRESSES and CMDRS

If anyone has an issue with the limitations of generating a character in Holo-me, the simplest solution is to simply not create one. If there is an issue with rank, then don't display it in a signature. No-one will know, and no-one will care. I'd rather ED fixed the basic mechanics of the game (which is the reason I bought it two years ago), you'll notice that no-one can tell what my rank is or how I identify myself in my Avatar (other than I identify with beer.....).

Ah nothing like getting people to admit their prejudice in a seemingly innocent thread.

(Can we, whilst we're adjusting titles, add "getting called by your rank at suitably allied ports instead of just Cmdr" to the wishlist changelog).

That's... kind of what this thread is?

Nope, it's a sexist thread started by a male. Giving males the opportunity to make sexist and in some cases incredibly uninformed and slightly crass jokes. Simple. As I stated earlier, if enough women actually started threads stating they care, then I'm sure FD would change things. As is it is, it seems, at least judging by the replies here, that well, just not enough grown females or even those who identify as females give a crap about the titles.
Despite the recent news reports and data that suggests females supposedly now outnumber male gamers, this internet gaming forum still seems to be an annex of a college football locker room. I'm sure the forum is slowly going backwards and also surprised this wasn't locked ages ago. If gamers stuck to discussing games, rather than attempting to discuss sex and gender issues we would all be better off.

When both sides want to put the other against a wall, it's just called a battle :D

I chalk this up to a simple but pretty tone deaf oversight on the part of FDEV.

In many respects, right up there with the now infamous Anaconda cockpit debacle of version 2.3.
