After every election, in every country, just under half the population acts as though the failure of their preferred candidate heralds the apocalypse. Then the country (and world) continues to truck along much the way it did before. Major events come and go, but rarely happen or don't happen based on who the head of state is. You'd think by now people might have noticed the pattern.

While this is true for the most part, this election does have great impact. For not only us but the rest of the world. However for us it is a major thing and can bring about great change. The world is seeing just how divide we are and corrupt, granted it's been that way for a while. And the actions of our leader will have a great impact on the globe. Especially with a leader who is all about ruining foreign relationships and his hand on a trigger for all those who he feels is a detriment to his great america.

This is just another regular election it is one that will have some major impacts, and the foreign markets are already showing that., Again, it be nice to have these types of conversations and experiences in game, with the whole powerplay aspect.

Yes, I do agree that our country isn't going to end and neither is the world, however, it is def. going to be tough times ahead, more so than we have experienced in a long while.

OR perhaps a cg to have the owners of the alien ruins build a better wall around all their settlements

Well crap, came here to escape the horror that is the American Election, looks like there is no escape.........

Sorry, there really is no escape. Granted this post wasn't just to bring politics here, well kind of but mainly because it got me thinking of the politics in our game. And how I wished it would be more interactive or at least have the same level of interest and what not of the real thing going on now. Plus it got me thinking of the top people in our world and just what they have planned for us. So it's not just useless come here about my American drama stuff. Not entirely. :)

It only goes to show you what demagoguery and the appeal for instant gratification, not to mention..., well I won't.

It's a sad day in America when someone like him is the "leader" of the free world.

Well, his party now got what they wanted, a Republican in the WH and those that voted for him will get what they wanted, someone with no experience in politics. Enough said.

I know you're being light hearted about the thread, but as an American I can tell you we are sick and damn tired of Hillary, Trump and the entire government. Our TV, internet, radio, EVERYTHING has been plastered with this campaign crap for over a year. It really is depressing.

To my non-American friends, don't be fooled by our government, we are just as oppressed as the rest of the world's population, we can't beat our military either. Land of the free, home of the brave my butt. If we could, short of open rebellion/war, we'd throw out every last politician in Washington DC and the big money corrupt people that hold their strings.

Unfortunately, we are fat, lazy, spoiled and stupid. It's not looking good for my country, Trump or Hillary.

Normally I would forgive all you Americans. Except I forgave you for George Bush I an II and my expectation was that you would LEARN BY EXPERIENCE. So this time, not. You're in the collective dog house for the next four years :D

I'm an American to my friend and I to am sick of all it. I'm glad it's all over and done with, at least the election process. And i'm happy to say i didn't vote for either of those two terrible people. My vote may not have had an impact but i can feel good about myself that I didn't give in to the two party system, into the lies of hillary or the sexism and bigotry of trump. IT sad when a country so divided against these two threw away any other choice they could have had. There is no majority winner here, the country is divided and it's a long battle to get back.

I would't let you forgive us. We have just shown how far we've fallen over and over againg, and it's sad because we talk so highly of how we want to change things and move forward. I do feel that we may have just slipped back into the mentality we have in the 50's, no women rights and racial hatred everywhere.

OP, the Americans apologizing today are probably not responsible for this rather disturbing night. And given the European current political landscape, rest assured a few more Trumps (well, in my country, a Trumpet ...) are on their way.

The next few years will be ... interesting. :-/

No need to apologize, it isn't the American's fault that they were given a choice like this - Clinton was as bad as a candidate as it gets, and she has a track record of bullying the country I live in.

Haha, this night was not a total loss, more states in the country have pulled their heads out of their butts and passed medicinal and recreational marijuana laws. Progress on some fronts is better than nothing.

Americans can go to the corner over there, whe have some books there and all you need to paint some picture. The Brits are sitting around there too, maybe you can play together!

The rest of us will try to fix the mess in the meanwhile :D

We really were left with crap, and it shows with how divisive our country is right now. I just can't help but think about the kind of fight Bernie Sanders would have put up. All we needed to do was beat trump, but we put the worst possible choice to do that as the frontrunner, and then the media pulls the cover on anybody who isn't the big two parties which really put the nail n the coffin.

i voted for Gary Johnson, not the best choice, and some might say a wasted vote or one that helped trump, which is a lie, but I couldn't stomach voting for trump or hillary and my other guy Sanders was not on the ballot, granted I could have written in him, but oh well. I'm happy nowing I didn't pick the less of two evils, didn't even pick any of the two evils.

Anyone wanna take a look at the odds of Trump to be assassinated during his term in office. The odds are fairly high tbh.

This :)

I for one though as a Brit am going to be interested to see exactly how he does as president when he realises he can't just tell Mexico to pay for a wall and stuff like that. Also I can't wait to see South Park. The one thing that worries me is if/when there's a terrorist attack and he goes off on one and starts saying that they need to nuke places.

Agreed, what fears me most is not trump himself, he disgusts me, but it is the supporters he has brought out as well as his do anything nature. If, by some miracle he doesn't manage to screw us over, and actually does some good I'll be the first to admit I"m wrong but I just don't see that happening.

Another sad thing that this brings up is just how vail we as a people our to eachother in these times. If we don't align with others views we curse them and try to hurt them or we cast them out of our lives. I get it your passionate about your politics but really it's about being human to each other. Whatever happens we need to stand together and continue to fight for what we belive. A leader does have amazing power but we all know what happens when a society stands up for itself. I don't think we as a people will let trump bring about or destruction. We will either act if he starts bringing things down or support if he manages to make some good progress.

Rather bizarrely, he can. Just block any payment from the US to Mexico and say it's payment for the wall.

The practicalities of doing so are not as straightforward.

Well, I guess us in the UK didn't get to win the 'dumbest voting decision of the year' award after all.

Good luck everyone.
