Spent years coveting the Python only to get my little bottom handed to me in combat

Thanks for the replies and advice.

I will buy some new weapons once I've sorted the damage caused by the passenger. There was sh*te all over the cabins. It was up the walls and on the ceiling. How on earth he managed to get it up there I don't know but I was pulling some High G boost assisted FA-OFF turns so maybe it wasn't all his fault.

Never mind. A couple of hours with a mop and some Dettol and I will have them back to new.

Thats what zero G does to faeces. All passenger liner captains know that. :p

The Python was the ego-ship of it's day. Now, it's the FDL.

The Python is great at carrying loads to medium pad outposts. Otherwise, not so great versus the usual suspects.

Interesting response. I don't think you'd say that if you had piloted my ship. It's a 200 million credit beast and fears very little.

But, for those times when it's prudent to flee, it does that well, too, boosting to 353 m/sec with a full cargo hold.

My only complaint is the short jump range (currently under 14 LY) but I am soon to have the FSD worked on. I just need about 20 LY per jump and the ship will want for nothing.

I've now got G2 OC MC's with corrosive and need to get my pulses worked on next, hence the question on whether I should drop the turrets and go gimballed?

Definitely. Once you can fly well enough to keep your target in front of you, gimbals do more damage for less distributor draw.

The only caveat with the overcharged mod is that it introduces jitter which ruins accuracy.
If you're trying to snipe powerplants it's probably better to go for something else. If you just want to kill things by taking their hull to zero then it's the best thing for the job :)

If you're arming the Python like a Viper, don't expect it to punch much stronger than a Viper

7E Power distributor, 7C power plant and weapons to fit these.

I think you can't afford a Python yet.

Eh...
The Python is my end game ship. She's engineered through and through.
Now she packs 2 Large OC Multis, 2 medium efficient beams and an efficient PAC. 5A Prismatic shields, engineered.
She does what I want. Run missions, explore SAG A*, trade and hit a CZ or two.
But you need to know how to fly her. What she can't out gun, she can out run.

Try this. Plus its only at 14 mill insurance.

ha ha no doubt.

But I think in case of Python & Vulture duels its more down to the CMDR than the ship. Which isnt bad for a multi-role ship vs a dedicated fighter.

What do you mean? The Vulture is as pure a multi role ship as there can be! I can blow things up with a burst laser or a PA, it's all up to what I want to do!

The only really big problem with the Python is her incredibly sluggish turn when full speed, *especially* at her boost speed. As long as you stick in the blue zone, she's fine. And in either case, she's not a Vulture. Python is a multirole, not a combat ship. Once you accept that, you'll see her for what she is: the single most versatile ship in the game.

The Python is the most over-rated ship in the game-- UNTIL you A-spec and engineer it. That's really the only way it's worth flying in combat.

With base modules it's the most expensive balloon you will ever fly.
