Spring 2022 dlc

I don't think Frontier ever went on the record as saying "no small animals," but they have said the game was focused on viewing things from afar, larger objects, etc. Pretty sure I'm mucking up the wording but the implication was that larger fauna were the primary driver of the game.

Couple that with a small but vocal portion of the community who assumed animals the size of meerkats, fennec foxes, and prairie dogs might be "too difficult to manage" or find on the map... I can see how some people could have thought Frontier wouldn't make smaller animals. But the smaller animals work fine and seemingly had more to do with representing them well enough in the game. Not the back-end mechanics of it all. At least as I understand it...

Compared to an egg-laying mechanic which would have quite a few logistical concerns: Where do they lay them? What if they can't reach the spot designated for nesting? How long do they rest on them for? And so on. It would add a whole mess of new calculations to the game for a limited pay-off.

What engine does JW2 actually work on? I mean, there are flying animals in that game. So if it works on the same cobra motor it will be possible in planet zoo too.

Does this mean we'll have news tomorrow ??

I don't think having the weekly stream completely outrolls the possibility of an announcement. If we went with that, there would never be any news on a tuesday anymore. If that would be the case, news could very well be shifted to wednesday.
They could also make an announcement earlier in the day and discuss it during the stream. The stream is scheduled for 5pm GMT and most announcements come a few hours before that.

They could definitely drop a feature focus, talk about it more on the stream and drop a few ("subtle") hints about what the next DLC might be. They've done that for the last two DLCs. That could also just be next week, though, so who knows.

So they'd do without any feature reveal like patch 1.6 aye?

I don't think this is going to happen lol....BUT an Americas DLC (representing North, South, and Central America would sell well). I'd much prefer that over a rainforest dlc.
I doubt it'll happen but yeah, an americas animal pack would be cool! That would be the best way to bring in some of the missing species like American Black Bear, Maned Wolf, Ocelot and an Armadillo.

i don't think we're getting an announcement until after the event at the end of this week. They could do the FFA on Thursday and reveal both the Update and DLC at the event quietly and then reveal the Update and DLC like they normally do next Monday and Tuesday.

If Tobs theory checks out we have two possible flows.

If it's an animal pack:
Feature Focus this week (traditionally on Thursday)
Update reveal next week Tuesday/Wednesday
DLC reveal next week (traditionally on Thursday)
Week of animal reveals
Release on the 12th

If it's a regular pack:
Feature Focus next week (traditionally on Thursday)
Update/DLC reveal week after
Release on the 12th

The most likely of the two flows is the animal pack, because we've been switching between animal and scenery packs since last year and I don't see Frontier switching their working formula at this point.

Sounds unfortunately pretty logical.

I don't waaaant to wait another two days.

What could you deduce from this please  ?
Teaser next week or this. Well if you look again at this picture, lqa last time was updated 23th November, which was one week before restaurant teaser. Comparing both timelines we should see teaser somewhere next week, if frontier didnt speed up anything. IIRC this depot is being updated only few times and always stop before feature teaser. Also, Frontier was working on EU pack on weekends, whereas they dont do it now. Looks like they dont have to hurry up.
