Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Good grief, we've gonna from "console when" on every post about DLCs, to now "DLC when" on every CONSOLE post!!! Full circle, indeed...

I can only think that if Frontier would have announced 1 year ago "this is the last year of support" we would be managing this current countdown in a much easier way... Or even if there is still 1 year more of DLC support left, I would rather know it beforehand. Like in the announcement of the Spring DLC they could say "this is our final year, just 4 more packs!" and I would enjoy whatever they throw at us much more than the constant doom-speaking.
I know it's not the way videogames developer companies usually end their support, but still...

I think that would be bad idea honestly. I imagine that "this is the last year why include X instead of Y?!" would be everywhere. The uncertain but possible open end really kept the hope up that some exclusions would show up later.

Carnivorans - Andean Bear
Ungulates - Black buck
Primates - H baboon
Other Mammals - golden jackal
Birds - Greater Rhea
Reptiles - Perentie

What I got from Deladysigner's ranking was that the largest part of the community is just ranking on what animals they like the most in real life (hence why the lion was so high), whereas I answered the survey based on what animals I think are the best-made in-game and had the most usability (e.g. porcupine, swan).

I don't know why everyone is wetting their pants. The Spring DLC has invariably been released in the week of Easter, which is Sunday 31st of March this year. If it's not delayed, that puts the release date at Tuesday 26th. It's not even March yet. Nothing is late.
I don't think most people in this thread are saying that anything's late. People are just excited that something's coming and nobody's sure when due to the Console drop.

I’m growing more confident that we have 2 packs left instead of 1. Just hear me out:

Jurassic World Evolution 2 has 4 classes of species, marine, flying, carnivore and herbivore; the game is also missing Microceratus, a species that is from the movies, so it wouldn’t be logical to not include it.
We have had 2/4 of those classes mentioned before be themes for recent packs (predator pack and marine pack), now the past couple weeks we’ve seen a lot of potential teasing for an avian pack for the spring pack.
If next week we get the announcement of an avian pack for spring for Jwe2, that leaves 1 class left to be a pack, herbivores, and coincidentally Microceratus, is a herbivore.

This pretty much guarantees that if the next JWE2 pack is avian, we will get another pack based on herbivores in June. The first games also ended with their last DLC in June.

JWE2 and PZ were both talked about the same way in the financial report, so if this happens for JWE2, it can happen for PZ, and Planet Coasters last pack the Ghostbusters pack, was in you guessed it, June. So would it be that crazy to assume PZ also ends in June as the other 2 (3 if JWE2 has 2 more packs) frontier games? Them saying “not quite done yet” also matches this, it could mean 1, it could mean 2.

Definitely something to think about.

Definitely an interesting theory, there is also the possibility of them wanting to end on a bigger expansion for JWE2 after avian/herbivore maybe? Since JWE ended on that OG Jurassic Park pack. If that's the case maybe there is up to three more packs.

I'm still going into March expecting this to be the final Planet Zoo DLC though, better safe than sorry.

Interesting thoughts and I'd agree that, based on recent social media activity, an avian pack could be likely for JWE2... And based on today's BestInSlot video I think an announcement next week for JWE2 feels possible.

But I don't think there's anything precluding them from just ending support without dropping a pack specific to herbivores. It would feel a little strange but Planet Zoo has similar gaps. And, TBH, the circumstances that Frontier was in at the end of JWE and PlanCo support is very different than where we are at now.

It's entirely possible they drop a pack in June but I wouldn't bank on it given how scant the PZ team is at this point and the lack of reference in the financial report. A June pack would honestly be kind of smart as it would give another PZ bump for FY25 on top of the console but, again, it's more about resources available than anything (even demand for it, despite what we would love to believe).

My biggest hold up in all of this remains the financial report. I just can't understand why, if they had more PDLC coming in FY25 they wouldn't have mentioned it on that one slide. They've mentioned it in all years prior, adding that would have honestly made the slide just look better graphically so I'm just hard-pressed to understand why they wouldn't have mentioned it explicitly...

Maybe because they only have 1 DLC for FY25 instead of four? Idk

I want to believe.

A LATAM pack in Easter and a larger final pack in June with community favorites and not an specific theme is the idea among this bad situation that i like the most.

We have just one more DLC confirmed for FY24. We already got 2 animal packs and one scenery (tropical was FY23 right?) so next pack should be a scenery pack if they follow the pattern which is not good for LATAM or the final pack for the game. So it is either an animal pack with scenery or if it turns out to be a regular scenery pack it could not be the very last pack.

I'm still hoping that if even if they skip June we get something for anniversary at least.

Then they could have just said "More PDLC coming for FY25." No need to get specific about how many more, etc. They've actually done that in the past, said they had more PDLC planned for whatever year it was. I just think it's really strange that they would have chosen this presentation/report cycle to not mention something positive like that. Especially if it's a bigger, final pack...

I want to believe too, but the signs are just simply not pointing in that direction for me at the moment. And for me, that report is the biggest indicator of what is or isn't to come.

This would be pretty ideal from a roster perspective, however unlikely I think it is. A Latin America scenery pack with a broad/non-specific themed animal pack to end things in June would be really strong. Alternately, a single "generic" themed DLC in the spring with a blown-out animal roster (10 8+ habitat animals) that leans heavily on Latin America and also includes some generic zoo props would be great too.

Agreed too, that if the spring pack is just scenery and feels like a "typical" pack then maybe there's hope for the summer... But if it's a bigger pack in any way, shape, or form? Then it's probably the end.
