Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Reading some of your talk on WEs
I do see in my zoos, a lot of people crowding my WEs, fortunately the animals don’t stress but i would imagine the bats or the sloths May get stressed in real life. I also have been in WE aviarys with macaws and parrots, some of you have pointed out how dangerous they are, perhaps frontier would simply ignore that.
Hummingbirds set of 5 could be cool as well although I could see the difficulty in making them.
Not too many people have agreed with me in the past on my hope to have WE ponds.
A turtle pond or a koi pond that guests walk over and look down at.

A really interesting idea I remember of hearing is an "Endangered Animal Pack".
Of course we had a conservation pack, but how many animals are left with amazing conservation history? I collected some animals around the world to do a really interesting dlc idea! Hope you like it :)

-Endangered Species Animal Pack-

The fauna of our planet is wonderful and unique, discover the most endangered species in our home and their incredible conservation stories!
Coming from all over, discover these incredible and endangered species.

From the deep jungles of the island of Sumatra, you can have the luxury of encountering the imposing Sumatran Rhinoceros, although not far away you will be able to observe the Père David's deer in the Chinese estuaries. Much further away, in the forests of distant America, you will be captivated by the Red Wolf and the Sea Otter, whose African neighbor, the Secretary Bird, captivates you with its long legs. In distant New Guinea you will be able to observe the Goodfellow's tree kangaroo, and its incredible climbing skills, while in an aquatic terrain, you will be able to see the Cuban Crocodile with its characteristic jumps. And last but not least, you will be captivated by the colorful Fiji crested iguana, a very colourful reptile!.

Consider the possibility of changing one of these for a spider monkey species.

I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT OMG 🐟
Here’s my thoughts
Turtles set of 5 such as red eared sliders and others that can coexist
Koi have many different types and colors so maybe a set of 5 or just have them in all color variety’s.
While both seem to do well in large numbers, I say frontier has a reasonable cap to their numbers.
Articles and the internet suggest that some turtles may or may not be good to mix with koi in the same pond.

At its core, I like the idea. However...

I have to agree with this 100%

Also not a fan of another Crocadilian that is not the Nile Crocodile, but if we replaced those two with something else it would be fantastic. Can I interest you in the Spectacled Bear, which is classified as Vulnerable, or the Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat, which is one of the rarest land mammals in the world?

This pack seems a little Clone-heavy, but I‘d but it. The Red Wolf is a really cool animal that I feel like gets overshadowed a lot by the Gray. I’ve seen them IRL and they’re really unique with a conservation background, I would love to get them.

Isn't it more or less the same CM team for JWE2? That would mean they have to stop support for both games at the same time without having announced any game they could focus on instead. I don't find that likely.
The fact that they have 3 CMS games coming in the next 3 years with one this coming year does support this idea.
Is it possible they're not giving us a flying bird or typical monkey because the modders could use those new rigs to make many more birds and monkeys, thus making fewer people interested in an official sequel?
not likely planet zoo players are actually quite hesitant around mods from the early days of everyones saves breaking modding isnt actually that big. Also people will always prefer frontier made versions its why so many animals that were previously great mods are still loved by the community when they come in packs
Putting aside everyone’s wants and what needs to be added to what continent, what animal out of the current wanted (doesn’t need to be at the top), would truly add the most to the games roster?

Species variety, continental representation, uniqueness, consider absolutely everything.
ANY desert habitat reptile we have exactly zero non tropical reptiles and it is so frustrating a desert tortoise would go a long way.

here are some other highly impactful animal types assuming no full aquatics or flying birds
  • any non tropical baboon
  • habitat river turtles
  • sea birds like pelicans and puffins
  • anything from non tropical south america so spectacled bear or rhea
  • waterbirds from new regions

I would honestly choose a primate. Either a baboon or a spider monkey. Both very unique to the current primate roster and one can finish Africa, the other can fill SA to a degree. Both are pretty unique for how you build for them, more so the baboon because we don’t have a primate where you can build cliffy rock enclosures.
a grasslands baboon would definitely add alot to the game. Spider monkeys however are just not as impactful to gameplay it fits many of the same niches as the capuchin and lemurs, its tropical, a south american monkey, small and arboreal the only thing it has going for it is unique climbing animations which would change behaviour not necessarily build style. Dont get me wrong the spider monkey would be an amazing addition because of the whole south america has next to nothing issue but if we are looking for the most impactful animal possible its not it.

spectacled by definition does not fit the brief since its vulnerable not endangered or rarer. Northern hairy nosed wombats are not found in captivity at all and are barely distinguishable in terms of use within a zoo and visuals to the already existing wombats it would be the equivalent of adding another asian rhino to be clear both are fine just neither are superior to each other. Also the rhino is often a symbol of conservation and the endangered so it fits the brief better and would likely be the packs icon. While I agree the nile crocodile is the best choice of a crocodilian with africa being the only region without a crocodilian that actually as them I wouldnt say no to any of them as we have so few reptiles. The cuban crocodile was an odd choice since if it doesnt come with its unique movement patterns which it likely wont it would be very similar to the other american crocodilians and wouldnt be useful there are so many better rare crocodilains.

2 exhibit options that cold both be habitat animals anything else and this pack is excellent.

Not really big of a fan of an endagered animal pack. Its such vage theme and feels like you can put basicly just about anything in there
Same here unless it is done really well. like the animals have to be very well themed and be undoubtable symbols of conservation which alot are already in the game like the panda. There are a few left such as the Sumatran rhino since rhino have always been a strong symbol of conservation. The peres davids deer as the only remaining large animal to be extinct in the wild. A pangolin which sadly is a major symbol of poaching and its affect on wildlife. Just using any endangered animals would make the pack feel pretty boring and uninspired it would also work much better as a scenery ack focused on education and natural history displays.
