Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

There are still many great buildings themes from SA to explore but I really can’t imagine SA dedicated pack not being the animal pack.

Coati - really unique and active animal that always shine in their enclosures.
Howler monkey - mixed exibits with Maned wolf. Could live in Savanna and Rainforest.
Ocelot - cats always sell well
Rhea - essential for Pampa mixed exibits
Mara - essential for Pampa mixed exibits
Vicuña or Guanaco - essential for Pampa mixed exibits

Tamandua - Brazilian tapir - Pudu - Bush dog - Porcupine - Spider monkey - Kinkajou - Manatee - Spectacled bear - list is endless really…

First 6 are essential for me. It would be really hard to create diverse SA sections without them. 7th could be a wild card. I would be happy with anything from SA.

This is my dream exhibit:

Might as well just do an animal pack with that many good species on the table.

It's got to have at least 2, preferably 3 or 4 monkey species for me to be a SA animal pack. There are 78 species of monkey in SA and so far, we have only 1 of them.

Please let's not give up valuable monkey space to ungulates. I love ungulates but I think this is the one pack we could do without them, now that we have the iconic peccary.

Since we have a scenery pack called 'South America', I think the animal pack will be called 'Amazon', and either way I hope it gives us:
  • 3-4 of any monkeys (should be doable bc they could use the capuchin rig for one + make one new one for the other 2)
  • a tamandua
  • Coati
  • I don't really care what else for habitats but I'd be excited for a bush dog or small cat, and
  • don't kill me for asking, a mixed macaws WE.

That's the dream.

Then there's me expecting no more than a single monkey and random ungulates.

Even better, the capuchin could be reused for a 2nd capuchin (tufted) as well as squirrel monkeys
a tamandua
I think it could be done by reusing the giant anteater, shrinking it, and adapting the animations to climb trees and use their prehensile tail

I would be very disappointed, actually, and if that happened, that'd be the 1st time I'm heavily disappointed in a DLC

Same, altho I think he meant what he's expecting rather than what he wants - is that right Cap'n?

It would be a weird feeling to be disappointed by a DLC, hasn't happenrd yet! But 0-1 monkeys in an Amazon (or similar) animal pack, when it is certainly doable and monkeys have long been requested...I'd be shook honestly.

Oh, ok, yeah

I have yet to be disappointed. The closest was the Arid pack, but the porcupine and the camel and the addax made it up for me, so I was ok with it

Yeah that's right - I'm expecting basically an arid pack but tailored to South America. My expectations are so low that anything like birds, tamandua, coati etc can make the pack appealing after waiting for so long for a half decent south american roster.
I'm the opposite 😅
I'd be happy even with this:
  1. Ocelot
  2. Southern tamandua
  3. Guanaco
  4. Squirrel monkey
  5. Blue poison frog (E)
But an animal pack must contain 2 monkeys, at least

I think an SA pack is even possible for winter. Just because it's so significantly underrepresented and the SA scenery pack came out 3.5 years ago now already.

Also bc the packs this year haven't necessarily stuck so close to nothern hemisphere seasons. You just never know with Frontier, maybe they'll take us south for some winter sun, and give us Taiga for spring!

I'm half expecting a Latin America pack in December. All 3 packs, plus the anniversary animal, are found in warm climates

I'd say that animals from warm weather are more relatable, weirdly enough.

I mean, between a reindeer and a maned wolf, which would be more relatable?
Haha. I think that really depends on the person.

I was thinking that there is more biodiversity in climates that are warmer from temperate+, so more to choose from.

And from a marketing POV, DLC packs with warmer weather themes can be more colourful and eye catching than tundra/taiga based packs which will have a more limited colour palette.

Also, most small mammals can't maintain their body temperature in cold places so most of the cute/meme species are from hotter places.

To me? Obviously a reindeer because I can find them roaming the mountains about an hours drive from where I live.
Haha. I think that really depends on the person.
Well, yes. But, worldwide, a reindeer is just a deer to people. Cute on its own. A maned wolf is a fox/deer/dog hybrid. It's more relatable because people have pet dogs and/or foxes.

But yeah, I see y'all's points

I can see your logic but I don't think people's preferences are all that logical.

I'd prob pick reindeer over maned wolf for...intangible reasons. Just feel more connected to their big doe eyes. My brother on the other hand is 100% maned wolf. Gangly and chaotic 😂

we wont get more than 2-3 monkeys in a single I can guarantee that because they wouldnt be able to sell it well to an average person 3 tropical monkeys would all be the same just different colours so wouldnt be marketable if they did a howler monkey and another capuchin those are different enough but 3 or more is pushing it and that is ultimately what I think is wrong with the small pack sizes is they decentivise diversity within animal groups since to the people who like monkeys they are happy whether there is one or two in a pack but the people who hate or a just not happy with monkeys the more monkeys in the pack the less they want it and the negative is almost always a bigger group.

warm weather animals arent necessarily more relatable but they do tend to be more exotic because tropical environments tend to have greater diversity than the extreme cold and a majority of the english speaking world lives in temperate regions or colder so they are less likely to view animals from those regions as exotic.
