Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I've given up on trying to convice people that SA should get a second scenery pack.
Its more realistic to have 5 animals one be a monkey, another a coati, and 2 other popular wild cards like mara guanaco tamandua etc.

It would be an exact copy of the Oceania Pack. Australia got a scenery pack, had outdated scenery and had a bit of a lacking roster as of Summer 2023, Oceania fixed it by adding a new collection of different and better scenery, 5 more high quality animals, a copy of the bat turned into the WTE animal, South America can do the exact same thing. Sure the missing species list is a bit bigger but who cares. We get 5 species here, the spec. bear in the winter, and there are a lot more opportunities for SA animals to show up down the line. E.g. if this pack happens and we have support for all of 2024, Spider Monkey grows to the near top of the wishlist, probably being crossed off Fall or Winter.

There are loads of other ways to get SA animals other than just a dedicated pack. And if we get a carribean or brazil themed scenery set instead of 3 clone animals, I'll be very pleased with that.

Arid had 7 habitat animals, 2 with unique animations/rigs/behaviors, the rest were clones. Oceania had 4 habitat animals, 3/4 were unique animations and behaviors/animations. Its personal preference honestly. This is just my own stance on the topic.

If we even get one monkey in the scenery pack, i would probably shut up that a scenery pack is a bad idea. The last thing i want for south america is low effort copy-paste animals just to fill a gap in the animal pack. These wishlists full of coati, tamandua, spider monkeys, rhea, mara etc would probably only work out as a scenery pack because of those i just mentioned - rhea is the only simple animal to add. Sure add some deer, rhea, another peccary and that could be fine but everyones wants the wow factor animals - we want to see coati, tamandua and monkeys travel through tropical rainforest not some boring deer munching on grass.

Oceania was a pleasant suprise after being intially disapointed by the roster but the great selection of scenery and unique animals grew on me and im yet to still be bored from the new contents which i cannot say for the arid pack.

This. Finally someone understands 🙏

This is definitely what I've been needing!

Assuming Highlands/Taiga/Tundra/Woodlands for Winter...I'm going to go with Latin America..not just South America and not just the Amazon.

Plot twist, the Winter pack will also be a scenery pack and this will be an animal pack.

Black Howler Monkey
Common Squirrel Monkey species
Ocelot
Coatimundi
Patagonian Mara
Spectacled Bear
Collared Peccary
Two Toed Sloth species as WTE

In the event the Spectacled Bear is in the Winter pack, put in the Greater Rhea for another non-Amazon area representative. I don't see any of the other animals possibly being in the Winter pack, if it is indeed a colder weather type of pack.
Looks like you can cross off Collared Peccary of this pack.

I would certainly want the South American pack to be an animal pack. There are enough “simplier” animals that would be good additions still, including Rhea, Roseate Spoonbill, Spectacled Bear, Ocelot and Vicuňa/Guanaco to fill those “clone spots” in animal pack.

Another scenery pack would be a waste in my opinion. You can easily build Brazilian architecture with what we already have.

No. Keep going with this. Tell the truth.
SA getting second scenery pack is optimal scenario with something like mountain animal pack (or birds 💪) approaching.
Mountain Animal Pack can feature 2-3 andean animals such as bear, viscacha, red howler, helmeted curassow, puna rhea followed by SA pack with obviously 5 animals. In this scenario South America gets 7-8 animals, new scenery set, lots of new plants, and even 2 monkeys in a row if red howler.
Compare it to any SA animal pack with given 8 animals and probably nothing more coming from Mountain Pack or anything else than single species, presumably bear.
So ya, 7-8 animals, new scenery set, 5+ plant species, possibility of more monkeys and birds > 8-9 animals, nothing else

For me I think the max animals I would put in a Highlands Pack from SA is 2. Spec. Bear and Vicuña. If we’re getting a monkey I would want the gelada then put the howler in the actual LA pack.

But yeah I agree even with getting 2 SA animals this winter that’s 7 in total which is the equivalent to getting one big animal pack. And the addition of new plants scenery and better quality animations and behaviors (I think the less number of animals in a pack gives them more time to make new animations like we saw in Oceania) is a better trade off.

Are there enough unique animals to make a scenery pack worth it? Because lately, scenery packs tend to have harder-to-make species while the animal packs are more clones.

I think what pushes me away from a scenery pack is that we can already make South American architecture based off of the pieces we have. It's colonial, but we can recreate it with mixing plaster, terracotta, the current South America theme, and the rustic pieces. Essentially, South American architecture is very heavily influenced off of European architecture, mainly the Latin countries, like Spain, Portugal, and Italy

Absolutely 😂. I’ll show you. Oceania had 3 new high effort animals and one clone. Here are some possible rosters:
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • South American Coati
  • Patagonian Mara
  • Ocelot (clone)
Option 2:
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • South American Coati
  • Bush Dog
  • Greater Rhea (clone)
Option 3:
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • South American Coati
  • Scarlet Ibis
  • Ocelot
The only thing that’s challenging with this is to make it so it’s not a mirror of the tropical pack like I believe it was @Captain Callum said. So not have a swine, primate, fossa shaped creature and a reptile to mirror it. Doing a monkey, fossa like creature, cat and rodent I think? Would be different enough I think (option 1).

I think we have different definitions of clones, because I'd call some of them clones:
  • Bush dog - canine clone
  • Ibis - flamingo clone
But yeah, I see whatchu mean. I dunno, I think it can benefit from both

I thought ibises move in a very different way than flamingos. Their structure is a lot different and they jump around a lot more. They could even make the extra step of making enrichment feeding posts so the ibises could jump onto them.
Yes, but most people consider a clone to be the same rig. Animations can vary, but rigs are more or less recycled, so I'm told. An ibis likely would share the rug with the flamingo and/or crane, but the animations would be slightly different.

In any case, we all agree that we should get a Latin America pack, whether it's scenery or animal. Scenery would feature more unique animals, potentially even new rigs entirely, but an animal pack would fill up the continent more with a bunch of clone animals.

And a question for y'all, but how would y'all feel about a tegu coming into the game? Would contrasts the monitors nicely, both in distribution as well as coloration. I'm thinking the black-and-white tegu

It’d be a good addition if it was an animal pack, like the caiman in the wetlands pack. Not in a scenery pack though, cause one there’s limited spots and two it’s a mirror of the tropical pack.

But for general appearance I like it, it’s a good addition for reptile houses.

Yeah yeah, I meant animal pack😅
As long as we don't get a Yacaré or black caiman, I think we're good.

Ok, sorry for the abrupt subject shift, but imma take advantage since you're on now: what app do you use to screen record your play sessions? Now that I have a desktop that can handle the game, I'd like to begin screen recording some vids (and editing. I have some moderate video editing skills)

I think it’s called the Xbox game bar I just hit windows + G hit record and start playing. It’s pretty good resolution.

I couldn’t find an editing software that is free and good though. I also don’t really like change when it comes to editing, so I upload the recordings from my desktop to my drive, then download them and use iMovie to edit on my laptop. I know iMovie isn’t the best editing software but it works when it’s just splicing a bunch of clips together.

Guess I'll experiment with it

Yeah, same. During the lockdown, throughout 2021 and all the way to February 2023, I would make little skits for friends for different projects and to lift people's spirits when times were tough.
I've made about 9 videos, and I did them all with a phone and the VRecorder app, as well as the Canva app. I seem to have better editing on the phone than the computer, believe it or not

After some of you pitched the Brazilian scenery pack i'm really into it. My only issue with it is that i won't include the mara and it is one of my most wanted SA animals

But howler, coati, ocelot and rhea make a perfect pack for me and covers my top requested from this región.

Of course there is more i want (ibis, spoonbill, screamer, spider and squirrel monkeys, Tamandua, SA tapir) but they come second in priority.

Also i think the main reason people want an animal pack is because they think we'll get two monkeys in one pack at least (some even list three) but i don't see that happening. Maybe a sight chance of squirrel and howler OR spider, but howler and spider together along with tamarins ain't happening imo.

My other concern about it being a scenery pack is that we always get that one oddball that very few people asked for and yet it takes a spot in the scenery pack. Happened with quokka in Oceania and Water monitor in tropical when there were other more requested options yo be included. So My fear is that is that we get something like idk the kinkajou instead of one the other 5 or 6 animals we are all claming for in every list. In an animal pack doesn't matter that much but in a scenery pack it will robb US ( or maybe just me personally) of a more important animal.
