Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I saw some other pack ideas on youtube similar to the Boreal pack and while they were definitely interesting and thought provoking, I still like your lineup best. All that said though, I'd still much prefer something South/Latin/Central/American for the Spring pack. But I can't let myself focus on that idea too much, to the extent that I would be disappointed if it were anything but that (or the extremely "not happening" longshot birb pack....not saying it's gonna happen but if I did I'd still be thrilled and glady let LA/CA/SA take a delay for it)
We only have 2 continents left for frontier to revisit. North America is in need of a new scenery set, meanwhile South America is in need of a lot of animals. It makes complete sense to me that we will get some sort of NA focused scenery pack next then a Latin America Animal Pack in the summer.

Then either a finale expansion pack in the fall or winter, if it’s in the winter I would go expect a Mountains pack in the fall with Markhor, Gelada, Spectacled Bear and Pallas Cat.

Honestly I do not expect a further stand alone NA Pack. Either they do a New World animal Pack with 1 or 2 NA animals (Like they combined Europe and Asia) or just a Latin America (Animal) Pack focused on SA animals. Mountains could be the Case for spring or autumn. The third Pack probably could be a Safari Pack as a few of the most popular and iconic animals are still from Africa.

Edit: I mean take the Secretary Bird and the Hamadryas Baboon and combine it with an Antelope (Dik Dik or Greater Kudu or Gerenuk, a Safari Pack needs an Antelope) and a Serval or Honey Badger and you would have a very great Pack providing Something for everyone. The Hoofstock Fans, the Monkey Fans, the Bird Fans and the Carnivores Fans.

But we just had an animal pack, we need a scenery pack next and I really don’t think South America is enough to change the schedule.
Either Mountains or Safari Scenery Pack for spring I could imagine. South/Latin America or New World animal Pack in Summer.
Mountains could Bring:
Markhor
Spectacled Bear
Gelada
Pallas Cat

Mountains doesn’t really seem like a spring theme though, but then again we got islands in fall so we really can’t expect anything lol

And what would the scenery even be for a Safari pack?

I do not care that much about Scenery anymore I must say 😃. In my personal ideal world we would just get animal Packs from now on this year. But I am sure Frontier will find something they could use within Africa. And yes, we have learnt that WE never can be Sure at least since Grasslands animal Pack for Winter DLC.

I would be fine with all animal packs, though I don’t think they’re going to do that because scenery packs keep a large part of the community interested.

sad antartica noises.
In all seriousness a pack dedicated to north america but not labelled as such especially one exclusively relying on forest animals is a recipe for disaster since it will be incredibly niche to anyone not building for us or canadian zoos I would look at a more broader temperate pack with a split between north america south america and eurasia in a 2-1-1 ratio with a roster looking something like
  • black bear or muskox
  • elk or other deer
  • spectacled bear or porcupine
  • a european lagomorph or weasel
  • and basically any reptile or amphibian my choice is a corroboree frog

But it doesn't follow frontiers recent trend though. Arid was masked as a full Africa pack and then after we got Australia Europe and Asia. It only makes sense that NA gets the next focus. Also your roster is incredibly similar to my Boreal pack roster, you still get a caprine, bear, lagomorph, and deer.

I despise arid with every fibre of my being because it isnt an arid pack its a north africa pack masquerading around as something else. Also besides arid there is no trend with continent packs concealed as biomes oceania is a continent eurasia is a global region. If you look at the trend properly it will be a region pack not a biome pack.

Yes the rosters are similar entirely because I was trying to keep it similar the big difference here is that someone looking for something else besides north america can find it whereas in you idea they wouldnt even bother considering the pack. People are practically foaming at the mouth for south american animals so it would be worthwhile for frontier to add at least one. Lagomorphs are much more recognisable for their european counterparts rather than the american ones and would be useful and interesting addition to the game.

If we get another biome pack where every single animal is from the same narrow region I will scream and lose all of my faith in humanity (censored rage).

Could the free update would include wild dog colormorphs? Honey Badger >> Serval

This could surely be a possibility after we now got some Tiger colormorphs. If Honey Badger or Serval? I do Not mind so much. Both are really high on my Wishlist. But I Just took the two Most popular Carnivores in the Wishlists from Africa for my example.

You know I support the pack idea with the Hare, but it could be a situation where some people don't really consider it a "zoo" animal. There's no denying that a rabbit is one of the most recognizable animals in the world, period, at least I don't think there's any denying it. But factoring in the more usual suspects housed in zoos, for some the mind just may automatically flip to the "wilder" animals.
Oh gosh, please don't trigger my absolute pet peeve and pure hate of a mix up. A rabbit is not a hare. Zoos put older rabbit breeds all over the zoo where I live, but hares are just complicated to keep in captivity.
The only scenario where I would want any or both in game would be if the entire world would finally realise that they are different species with very different needs. But since this will never happen, for me it's absolutely a wasted spot in every aspect.

Honestly my fantasy pack right now is probably Africa 2. Serval, Hamadryas baboon, waterbuck all together would make me super happy. If they threw in the great white pelican as well I'd probably wet myself.
I wouldn't mind a pack like that either. What kind of scenery do you imagine to go with that though? I'd like to flesh this pack out haha :D

Reading this thread I can think of a couple more packs, assuming development goes into December:

Forest Pack
  1. American black bear
  2. Peere David’s deer
  3. Golden Pheasant
  4. Mallard duck
  5. Exhibit: European adder, or maybe a beetle like the European stag?
Safari Pack
  1. Hamadrayas Baboon
  2. Serval
  3. Waterbuck
  4. Grey crowned crane
  5. Great white pelican
  6. Secretary Bird
  7. Nile crocodile
  8. Exhibit: African clawed frog (I couldn’t think of anything but I didn’t want another snake)
Polar pack
  1. Musk Ok
  2. Walrus
  3. Sea otter
  4. Rockhopper penguin
  5. Western Capercaillie
This pack wouldn’t have an exhibit animal, tbh I’m being greedy, but I think the capercaillie is worth it.

The anniversary animal: blackbuck

Final pack of the year: Amazon Pack
  1. Black Howler Monkey
  2. Golden lion tamarin
  3. Squirrel monkey
  4. Bush dog
  5. White nosed coati
  6. American Flamingo
  7. Scarlet ibis
  8. Exhbit: we get three macaw species - Scarlet, Blue and Gold, and Hyacinth
While it would leave only one species of bird for where I live in NA, and I wouldn’t get a burrowing owl. I think this would be close to my preferred outcome.

TBH I wouldn't. We already have two African scenery packs. In the extremely unlikely chance they did another African-themed pack, it ought to be an animal pack. Africa has plenty to fill such a pack. Near the top of the meta wishlist we have the baboon, secretarybird, and serval as a solid start. Another four "clones" would round it out, most probably antelope and/or the Barbary sheep. Ungulate haters would die inside but oh well.

I would also love a pack like that. Throw the African Spurred Tortoise, Grey-Crowned Crane, Honey Badger and Eland/Kudu/Dik-Dik into it and I think it would make alot of people happy.

Sorry! I do use the two terms interchangeably too often, though I do know they’re different types of animals. It would be like calling an otter a badger.

I get where you’re coming from with mostly not wanting either in the game. Either a rabbit or hare are not a big priority for me; in fact they weren’t even on my list if wants until this year when I realized they almost never get talked about here. I’d still personally like one of either to be included (arctic or snowshoe hare for me) but that would be an all new rig and with them not being all that requested likely aren’t on Frontiers radar either.

Here’s a weird question: do you think it’s possible we could get multiple of similar animals in a pack again? Like the 5 butterfly species in the arid pack.

Like maybe a pack where we could get multiple ducks? Something like that?

Edit: maybe it could work for marmosets too, like the pygmy and cotton top. Animals that will behave similarly and otherwise are just different in looks and sounds. For the duck example I was thinking along the lines of dabbling ducks, a diving duck would need new animations.
