Agreed. Although I will be sad over the tree roo, I can live without the tamandua. The Tamandua will never make it. Too much of a unique and difficult rig just for one animal that is very niche. Just like the Tree Kangaroo.

As someone who knows next to nothing about primates: What differentiates them, in terms of game mechanics? For anyone who knows a little bit about primates there is no difference between spider and howler monkeys from difficulty standpoint and actually the impossible one to recreate would be white-faced saki lol.
Spider and howler? Or spider/howler and sakis? As someone who knows next to nothing about primates: What differentiates them, in terms of game mechanics?
Is it? It can use the anteater rig, it would just need some climbing animations. Not that difficult imo.The Tamandua will never make it. Too much of a unique and difficult rig just for one animal that is very niche. Just like the Tree Kangaroo.
Could this work as a Canada pack?Been thinking more about this. I think the next pack won't be South American themed. I think everyones right, it needs to be an animal pack. I was for a scenery pack but I was also assuming we would get a couple SA creatures in this current pack, yet we didn't. I also don't think they will stop the trend of the regional packs. Theres no themes left that they haven't done, we've covered all the biomes (except for alpine but I guess Eurasia sorta covers it) so I think they would return to a continent that might not have the top animals, but a requested scenery theme, that being North America.

While North America might not need new species, I think it deserves a small upgrade since the rest of the continents has had an uplift. With the Snowshoe Hare being the headliner and the unique rig of this pack, a bunny should be able to draw a lot of attention from a general audience. Combining the winter feel while also travelling into spring with the woodlands. The Musk Ox and Bear were both requested, infact I think they're both in the top 30 of the meta wishlist. The bear could be the reciever of a few new animations like more unique climbing or fishing behavior? The Elk is the direct clone of the pack. I suppose other animals like a duck could fit in but adding in marshlands would take away from the cold woodlands feel of the pack. A marten could also get in here too as the second new rig, but we don't know if the 2 rigs per pack will be dropped to 1 because of frontiers status so I played it safe and kept the bear, elk and musk ox.
Scenery set has been heavily requested, Native American scenery set, mostly new wooden and stone sets with lots of new shrubs, trees and grasses that belong to North Americas northern boreal forests.
Only problem with this pack is that it doesn't include Walrus nor a pelican, but I'm confident they'll find their way into a later pack. Its a spring pack, it really doesn't feel like Walrus time.
If we keep saying an India pack is possible, there's no reason why a Canada pack couldn't. Its the perfect lineup to represent the colder regions of North america.Could this work as a Canada pack?
True, I would love a Canada pack if my earlier template was the roster. If we keep saying an India pack is possible, there's no reason why a Canada pack couldn't. Its the perfect lineup to represent the colder regions of North america.
LatterSpider and howler? Or spider/howler and sakis?
White-faced saki are predominantly leapers. Instead of walking most of the time they are jumping from branch to branch. This isnt possible to recreate in the game, because climbing system is just one simple vertical climbing animation. While white-faced saki in theory could walk in-game just like that at the same time it would completely miss behaviour, which gave its name flying monkey based on their amazing leaps across canopy. Ya, i get it animals can jump from piece to piece, but its not quite that level.Latter
Bird + New World alternative to Old World base game speciesWhy's it okay to ask for the American flamingo but asking for the Eurasian brown bear or Sumatran tiger gets people shouted down?
I can see 2 monkeys happening especially if its an animal pack one will be a quick capuchin reskin and the other will be something new like a howler monkey but more than 2 seems unlikley. On the topic of new world monkeys, I really only expect to get one in a Latin American Animal Pack unfortunately. New World monkeys are really diverse and basically all the popular candidates would require a lot of work and probably new rigs to be made.
The only one I would see as easy to make from the capuchin would be another capuchin, people bring up the squirrel monkey and I do think that is possible but not particularly likely.
people are generally only slightly less mad at the flamingo then the tiger and bear. The difference is mainly range the sumatran tigers range matches up in both foliage and continent to the bengal so in terms of gameplay experience they would feel identical. The eurasian brown bear its that people dont want more bears in general and if the do they dont want another subspecies which again is a big distinction between the flamingo and the other 2.Why's it okay to ask for the American flamingo but asking for the Eurasian brown bear or Sumatran tiger gets people shouted down?
ah yes use a bird from the other side of the world as a substitution. Thats like saying the american bison is a wisent substitute or the malayan tapir can be used as a brazilian. To the people who actually care they can never be substitutes especially those who play actually using the ingame requirement system and would have to use non south american plants to decorate their "american" flamingo habitat."Just use the greater flamingo as a substitute!!!"
not im recreating a zoo and they have american flamingos so ill use great flamingos instead.
The difference between the wisent and bison is the same to me as the american and greater flamingos its all perspective basedI still don't see the spider monkey as a real possibility. I think howler is way more likely and something like squirrel monkey. I personally want Brazilian tapir so i would not mind. Please no paywall flamingo reskin. At least the wisent is different enough from the american bison.
I honestly think we are seeing a new animal pack pattern where the is 1 highly requested intensive rig the top metawishlist animal and the rest are all easy clones and remakes. Would make sense since we are getting to the point where they are running out of huge entire community agrees is necessary animals and also easy to make high impact animals. The groundwork is already there with the likes of complex arboreal animations in the binturong and gibbons. Some extra work around the main rig of an animal pack is possible to include it. Possibly the other animals do suffer the fate of the arid/eurasia packs but most SA animals that are not primates are typically 'clones' anyway.
All animal packs, something i’d love, but I doubt Frontier would do.My ideal DLC for next year, given the current restrictions of the game (no aviaries etc):
