Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

So heh... Seems to be our last year?
It was an exciting journey pals. Just hoping the last dlc is the best of every dlc for ending the game in the best way possible. Hoping for a big pack!

I could rely on mods if the spring 2024 DLC is the last one but for that I need Frontier to give me the walrus. It's a tough one for modders and I can't live without it anymore 🥲 But as I already said, I'm not going to use mods as long as I'm 100% sure the support ends (I just made a lot of research abouth them for the moment).

At least south america got...

the wrong sloth and...

a pig!
Hurrrrraaaaaay

So excited

So pleased

So ugh

Literally the only way to make this community not eat up the content is by ending it.
Without an ending in sight, all the weird filler picks and packs if we are honest are nice, but you cant build a way of monetisation building on the fact that you leave out popular and very usefull animals for further releases to just go and build hype for these animals by neglecting them for what seems like on purpose (monkeys, birds, south america, pelican, baboon, domestics etc) and then just NOT actually release them

What the is frontier thinking, thats not how you do cash money

They are easy enough to use, most of the guides overly complicate things for no reason. I just unload the mods before each predictable update and ensure only the most up to date mods are used to prevent any issues.

I love watching the end of the game support drama instead of excitement that we have another dlc confirmed 😂
Or maybe they’ve kept monkeys, birds and aquatics for the DLC’s after the console release? Nobody? No?

My only hope is that whatever this pack be, regular scenery pack regular animal pack whatever, is that they make it globally diverse.

No matter what region they pick, someone will be disappointed. We got Eurasia and while the general response to the pack was good, there were still people that skip the pack because if you’re not from the area or you’ve never seen animals like those, the general feedback is going to be “well why would I want those?”

Yes Latin America needs species, but not everyone notices that nor cares about it. I think satisfying all regions at once is the best possible outcome for this finale Pack. Just look at how well received wetlands, grasslands and conservation did.

Yes, but considering what obvious packs are still left to add, most notably petting zoo and south america 2 it feels strange if they wouldnt do both especally after last year.
What your gonna tell me dry places in africa get an animal pack but south america gets nothing?
Are we really gonna end this game without the peafowl being cloned once?
Are they just gonna leave out baboons?
Sounds weird to me, ngl, especally in financially troubling times to shut down the money maker that still has very easy content to make and a loyal fanbase thats lets be honest rather easy to please
It's not as simple as having ideas for additional packs, though. It's about the people they have available to create content and the potential for profit. They may not have a big enough team to develop a new game and port an older game to console while continuing to create DLC for existing games.

And they can get a very quick influx of sales for Planet Zoo if they port it over to console along with the DLC. Substantially more than they would get from additional DLC.

It would be ideal for them to be able to develop a new game, port Planet Zoo to console, and continue to develop Planet Zoo DLC... That's the ideal situation. It just might not be feasible. I'm sure they want to. It's just a matter of it makes sense to from a business/money perspective.

Also I completely missed the conversation on the next pack being the last one but I just watched Rudis video and now I’m sad we could be facing the end next spring 😭

This makes speculating so much harder now, Latin America needs it, but I really don’t want our last pack to be Latin America themed since most of the animals I’m hoping for and excited to build for aren’t from LA.

Gelada, Tree roo, Secretary Bird, Tamarin, Spider Monkey, Pallas Cat, AN AMERICAS BEAR (I will be so cheesed off if the last bear we get is the sloth bear) I need them all 😭
This is why I think/hope we're headed toward a more general pack for the final DLC. It would be an easy way to squeeze in some of the more highly-requested animals without worrying about specific biomes or regions.

The ideal, for me, at this stage would be to get a Latin America scenery pack for the spring followed by a broader animal pack for the summer to close things out with a bang (tree kangaroo, secretary bird, another monkey, etc.) or if spring is the final pack... That we get a general-themed animal+ scenery pack with an animal roster that's nothing but bangers.

Does the console release really have to mean the end of the PDLC’s for planet zoo?

There's pretty much good evidence the console release is Zoo but nowhere does it mean PZ is ending new content. All we have is Planet Coaster to compare and that was their first planet game port midst the pandemic.

Their most successful game on all platforms + new DLC is a recipe for success surely

The writing has been on the walls. People have been increasingly saying it’s on the walls. The fact that this is so difficult for some of you to swallow is… well, it’s on you, frankly.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m far from thrilled that it does truly seem to be winding down, but at least I haven’t been putting my fingers in my ears at the sheer thought of this happening.

If we do get a super sized pack up wrap things up, I think I’d still be happiest if it’s totally South American themed.

If this is the end, last years packs will go from nice polish to missed opportunity real quick
I don’t remember if it was this thread or another one where you and I discussed something just like this. But I’m getting a weird sense of Deja Vú. But yeah, depending on what happens it would only solidify my opinion on the past dlc cycle being way too safe for the games own good.

TBH, I have liked every animal added into game so far. And while I’m happy that the current dlc cycle helped keep Frontier afloat, I can’t help but feel like it caused Planet Zoo to have a lot of missed opportunities. If instead of a three month cycle, let’s say we got 6 months. Could we have had Zoo Tycoon style expansion packs? Could we have had flying birds, aquatics, and updated exhibits? I don’t know, I don’t know the limitations of the engines and what could have been really good reasons to not include these features.

But man, I’m really hoping this last dlc will be something exciting. Don’t get me wrong, this is the best zoo game of all time and one of the best animal games ever made. The things modders can do will keep this game alive for a long time. I love this community and it’s gonna be fun to see what goes on from here. I just hope this last dlc will be something amazing, I mean we still have a zoo game with no parrots! I was honestly over the whole flying bird thing until tonight, but man, what a missed opportunity. Who knows, maybe the last dlc will give us some flying birds so the modders can run wild. Like a macaw, some budgies, etc. otherwise what was even the point of the WTE?

I’m gonna be hopefully optimistic though, a sequel could easily supplant PZ as the best animal game in my eyes. I just hope it doesn’t come out too soon, or I’m gonna upset. Then it would feel like features were intentionally kept. I don’t even know what I’m waffling on about now, I’m just hoping the last dlc will blow my socks off.
