Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I'll make my ideal scenario for this year. It's not realistic, but hey, a man can dream 😅

-Spring 2024: Latin America Animal Pack-

1: South American Coati (headliner)
2: Spectacled Bear
3: Ocelot
4: Greater Rhea
5: Patagonian Mara
6: Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
7: Southern Tamandua
8: WE Tamarins (Golden-lion, emperor and cotton-top)

Very requested animals, as well 1 or 2 clones to fill up goodly the space. Also, lots of monkeys. Another species that could be in here: Black Howler Monkey

-Summer 2024: Aviary Expansion Pack-
Final and last dlc for Planet Zoo. A big end dlc with a new structure, some new building items and the most important: Flying Birds (also some terrestrial ones).

1: Blue-and-Golden Macaw
2: Toco Tucan
3: Great Indian Hornbill
4: Bald Eagle
5: Eurasian Eagle Owl
6: Barn Owl
7: Peregrine Falcon
8: Griffon Vulture
9: Californian Condor
10: Great White Pelican
11: Mandarin Duck
12: Puffin
13: Secretary Bird
14: Scarlet Ibis
15: Roseate Spoonbill
16: Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
17: Victoria Crowned Pigeon
Small Aviaries:
18: Budgerigar (or Lovebird)
19: African Grey Parrot
20: Rainbow Lorikeet

Another species that could fit: Harpy Eagle, Shoebill or a Turaco

Also I would add another free update, the last anniversary for Planet Zoo, that would add the King Cobra, our last animal that is technically in the game.

I would love a pack like this, but I can see how if this would be the last pack there would be a lot of upset people.
TBH unless the last pack is something great (especially compared to the past year) I think a good part of the community will always be upset. Unfortunately as it stands Planet Zoo has a lot of missed potential, so not everyone will be happy, here is what I am upset about personally:

  1. It took 4 years to get a waterfowl and we might not get another one
  2. We have 1 flamingo, 1 crane, and 1 game bird when that seems like a super easy way to boost the roster and had more bird choices
  3. Just the lack of birds sigh It took them 4 years for us to finally get three bird species in a year, and that just might be the max of it. Hopefully this final dlc gives us a lot.
  4. I have only one South American monkey, but no golden lion tamarin. One of the most important animals in conservation.
  5. I don’t mind exhibit boxes as they are, it’s just a shame they are undercooked and underutilized.
  6. I can’t make a good petting zoo in a zoo game
  7. There are a total of 0 fish in the roster, not even in exhibit boxes which seemed like the perfect way to add at least some into the game.
  8. I can’t make a good aviary
I’m gonna try to be more positive for the last dlc, but for now I do want to get the “doomer” energy out. I think it’s a good way of expressing what the sequel game NEEDS to be to get me interested in it. Realistically animals are gonna have to be sold back to us again, and unless Planet Zoo 2 has:
  1. Better climbing system with more monkeys (especially South American)
  2. A much better roster of birds, especially at launch. Yes this would also mean aviaries
  3. Aquatic animals
  4. Petting zoo feature
  5. More in depth management for my zoo, it just feels like I build me zoo and then I’m done
  6. Better optimizing for lower end PCs
  7. Guest needs tweaked (why do they care about backstage stuff, and how many foodtsands there are?)
These are just some of the features it would need, especially after I already bought base game and every single dlc. I’m gonna start using mods after support is done. If mods are where I’m gonna get a lot of the birds and animals I have been needing then it’s gonna be hard for me to go to a sequel if it doesn’t have what I listed above.

I know this is a long post and I’m being negative, but like I said I want to get the energy out now. I bet the devs are hard at work with something cool coming (I hope)
Nothing you said here couldnt be achieved in planet zoo 1.
Planet 2 would be a cash grab and pretty ty reset of the current roster, unless they port everything over.
Dont know what will make me more ed, spending 200 bucks on a game only to buy it again for 60 more or to do that and not even have everything from these 200 bucks in the game.

If even a single species goes missing, id genuinly would feel scammed.
And if nothing goes missing id still would feel scammed when they want me to buy the same game again for full price.

Hell no modding it is

Yeah you are right. Honestly the more I think about the more I think climbing pieces should have been the gateway for flying birds in a habitat (WTE obviously but for some reason they won’t pull the plug on it). With climbing pieces birds could jump around for th illusion of flying, and also a lot of captive birds don’t move that much either. Large birds like eagles don’t move around a lot, so I don’t get why they can’t be in game. Parrots can use climbing pieces, so can storks, herons, and ibis. Budgies can go in the WTE, as can pigeons and finches. I really wonder what the hold up is?

Oh right, we modders are about to get some new fans! :)

And certainly after spending so much money on the game a sequel wouldn't be welcome in most people's eyes honestly, we aren't made of gold. That's why I think the sequel will come if anything in the FY26. Planet Coaster and Planet Something else would come first.

Modders are the hope for getting our most wanted animals at this point. Specially the birds.
This is true.
Meanwhile everyones most wanted mammals were made 2-3 years ago :ROFLMAO:
This is also true.

Disregarding birds, mammal #2 on my list is a Tree Kangaroo. And I'm okay with not getting one. That's where I am now with most things, that two years ago they would have been "nice to have" things. They don't suddenly become essential just because things above them got added in. That's my own experience anyways, others will differ of course.

Rather looking at Frontier as not doing service to the community by putting in more wanted animals from 4+ years, I'm grateful that they managed to get nearly everything non-feathered that I really wanted into the game. Latin America is absolutely the only crucial mammal point for me now, and the major wants, as in my siggy, are the Spectacled Bear and some Primates.

I'm not going to be all upset that we didn't get a Tree Kangaroo, Sulawesi Bear Cuscus, or Masai Giraffe. Despite them all ranking fairly high up on my list now, they certainly weren't as high a year ago, even less so two or three years ago. They are still "would be nice to have" but not critical additions.

Point of view and this is a hot take, and will probably upset some people, but continuing to deem whatever animals are at the top of your list essential, regardless of other animals that have made it in already, only set yourself up for disappointment. Granted, if you've had something at the very top of your list for 3 years now, I can understand that. But if you got so many animals in last year that your #1 animal wasn't even in your top 10, I'd think it would make more sense to be grateful, not bitter.

It’s absurd to me that people are getting mad about specific aspects of a totally hypothetical game. We literally don’t know the first thing about what a potential Planet Zoo 2 would look like, or how far off it is. Why is it that the knee jerk assumption is that it will feature only minor tweaks over the current game? It’s completely ridiculous to treat that like anything close to fact.

I'm so sad about getting the last DLC this spring. We all know the end was close but I did expect at least a summer DLC. What I can not understand is that they are stopping development for their two most profitable games at once... Where are they going to get their benefits from? They will sell well the console edition but once the first hype is gone... then what? They won't release any more DLC to keep getting benefits from their fanbase...
I think it is a risky move at a time of financial difficulty for the economy and they are putting all their eggs in the same basket in my opinion.

I mean yeah true.
But i really cant think of anything that would be such a drastic improvement to basicly start from zero again.
Thats the main reason why im not looking forward to it

I've had that outlook since i've arrived on the forum and I may have started an argument or two around "we shouldn't be grateful because corporate blah blah blah" , I'm quite good at starting arguments here for some reason. But yeah the amount of animals that are getting branded as essential is getting ridiculous, there is absolutely no way the 50 odd animals a person suggested on the meta-wishlists are all essential, even many top 10 animals are just personal favourites that their local zoo may feature and every zoo definitely needs that animal because my zoo has it. For me, I have received many animals in the rankings of 30-50 such as the red river hog, lar gibbon, black rhino, another gazelle etc that has made me grateful that a wide range of animals has been introduced in just the last year alone. Sure not receiving my personal favourites (not essential in my view) like the musk ox and sea otter is disappointing but so many other wishlist animals have been added, it balances out the scale.

If the whole support is ending news is right in the end, we will only see an increase of people who have deemed their entire personal wishlist essential to be more bitter rather than grateful.

Well, if this means that the end of the game's support is coming soon, at least we can hope that Frontier will be able to do better next time when Planet Zoo 2 comes out. I really think that the reason why we haven't gotten proper aviaries and fully aquatic animals is at least partially because Frontier is saving them for a sequel. It is pretty sad that we're probably only going to get a little bit more new official content for PZ, but we all knew that this was going to happen eventually.

If I had to guess, if the Spring pack is the last one like most people are saying, then the last pack we get might be something like the "Americas Animal Pack" as a counterpart to the Oceania Pack and Eurasian Animal Pack. Hypothetically, if this is the case, we can still hold onto some hope that we'll get a few more South American / Central American animals that a lot of people want, as well as some of the more requested species from NA, such as the Muskox and Walrus. It would tie together the regions/continents DLC theme quite nicely and I think that the species that could be included would make for a decent sendoff for the game. That's the most optimistic prediction I can come up with currently that seems reasonably likely.
