Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Do you guys want any more Amphibians? Currently we don't have any Asian and Oceanian amphibians in the game yet, the Asian gap can be best filled by the Chinese Giant Salamander, what might be the best one to represent the Oceanian amphibian, the White's Tree Frog?

I think we have a nice amount and variety of amphibians in the game now, so im not in dire need of more. Giant salamander would be neat tho, and were kinda missing a classic toad as the last missing amphibian archetype, so maybe cane toad?
Also im kinda surprised that we didnt see the pacman frog so far since they are big, colorfull, decently well known and dont move like at all, making them a perfect fit for the exhibit.

But overall i think we need lizards more than anything, them as kinda the main terrarium boys feel weird only habing 3,5 in the game. A chameleon is definetly needed and so is a gecko like the tokay, due to sheer fame and ubiquity probably also the bearded dragon.

Very similar to how i feel.
In my opinion PZ can never be "complete" due to the sheer amount of possible animals and to expect it to be is kinda foolish in my eyes.
But you could have the game not feel incomplete if that makes sense?
Currently the game is in a pretty unbalanced spot due to some biased choices and clear favoritism in how the pack where build over the last 4 years. So were in a spot where a final pack cant possibly bring the game to a satisfactory state with any reasonable amount of animals, and i fully expect to be disappointed when it will be revealed ( i know this sounds pessimistic but its how i feel).

Planet zoo can never feel complete people will always have their favourite animals not ingame. I do think this works to the games advantage though new content is always viable since people will always want more I truly hope this game stays around for as long as something like the sims imagine 10 years of packs and how many animals it would add.

Tell me about it, i often play the game while chilling on discord and one of my friends only knows it as the "stupid screaming monkey" game

I havent built for the siamang yet and I fear for that day because all I hear is how loud they are. I usually play on like 1% volume so barely hear any sounds anyways I do love the sound design but the wolves do occasionally get on my nerves.

Probably a corroboree frog they are very distinctive looking and have a strong connection to some of the bigger australian zoos. They are also one the few alpine animals australia has. I would definetley have to be a frog of some description anyways since I know for sure australia and new zealand dont have any native amphibians that arent frogs maybe other oceanic islands do im not sure about that.

For asia I would love to see a caecilians just for the sake of having every major amphibian group represented but a giant salamander would be a much better fit I would love it to be the first habitat amphibian since they get big enough to be practical outside the box of shame.

Exhibits are only missing cobra and chameleon as the "essentials", the chinese salamander is cool but honestly I don't care if it doesn't get in.

Also just for the sake of saying it, the horned viper is the worst exhibit pick in the game, thinking of it just makes me angry at Frontier, like, how out of touch, how incompetent you gotta be to add this snake nobody asked for, instead of the cobra, that is not only the most requested snake, but also a perfect pick for an arid climate-themed pack???? Jesus, it feels insulting, and unless they add it in the last DLC to prove they intentionally missed it out, it will remain as such.

Good lord a major breakthrough in modding has been achieved and now we can make custom animations for exhibit animals, so in the likely case Frontier fails to deliver we will.

Those two things are not mutually exclusive imo. It can feel complete even if it doesn't have one's personal favorite, like say my favorite animal is the red and white flying squirrel, I'm not gonna say the game does not feel complete without it because that's simply not true. I can understand why people would say that though but I don't see how it affects the overall perception of how complete the roster is.

Wow! The atmosphere here became truly toxique. Everyone seems to be so frustrated and negative.
I thought it might change but it probably won’t. For the last few months I was mostly reading and even this became unpleasant in so many ways.
I hope all of you would be able to find some balance and stop raging with negativity.

Lol i agree 100%. I don't know what they where thinking. The worst thing is that if it would st least move and make their iconic movements un the sand it would atb least make it a bit more worth it, but it just sits there, so they don't even give it the things that makes the snake interesting.

On the topic of amphibians i want a giant salamander, an Australian tree frog, a fire bellied toad, a rainfrog, Surinam toad and and Argentinian horned frog. The latter is the one i want the most, followed by the salamander.

But yeah i would prefer more reptiles: cobra, chameleon, gecko, basilisk, mata mata turtle, alligator snapping turtle, green anaconda, emerald tree boa, eyelash viper, african/Indian rock pythons, etc.

Can't wait to see what can be done with that! I'm loving the latest exhibit mods.

I believe Zoo Tycoon 2 had 95ish animals if we don't include the extinct species

It Is Exactly 95 If You Include The Fully Aquatics In ZT2 If Not Then 81.

The Gerenuk is one I feel like it doesn’t get its recognition, it’s similar to the Saiga where it might not be the most popular ungulate in captivity but it’s really unique and that’s what makes it a good addition. If we don’t get one of the essential ungulates like a small deer, then I would appreciate the Gerenuks inclusion in the final pack.

I think they are very neat! They look goofy in a very cute way. I would be down to get a gerenuk.

I wish we had more time! So many animals I would love to see.

Honestly Africa also has some really cool primates, obviously I think South America needs it a bit more. But I think these guys are really cool!

In an ideal world there should also be a monkey for india like the grey langur or the lion tailed macaque, and one common one for SEA like the tonkin langur, crab eating or crested macaque!

But realisticly (sadly) i think baboon + one SA monkey is what we will end on

Even that is extremely hopeful with the trend of primates in dlcs given the final pack even covers that much ground.

Well yeah.
But at this point frontier must have surely noticed the request for more monkeys, so im fairly certain that we will get 2 of them.
I mean i want to believe that the constant request for more birds have lead to the inclusion of a whopping 3 birds in the last 2 DLCs, thats an incredible increase in comparission to the usual 1 bird a year. Which makes me hope monkeys will get the same treatment

Here is an interesting question, what if the final pack isn’t based on the meta wishlist but based on animals saved by zoos? I realize the conservation pack is close to that, but think of a number of the other animals:

1. Peere David’s deer
2. Guam rail
3. Golden lion tamarin
4. Black footed ferret
5. California condor

I still think it won’t happen, but I have been thinking more and more what if the final pack is just a celebration of zoos and conservation as a whole? At least more so than the conservation pack

Hmm I don't know about conservation v2 for a final pack, the theme around extinct in the wild, conservation work, and backstage scenery stuff is the territory of the conservation pack where a second one wouldn't feel the same. While the condor is would be an amazing addition, I don't think it can carry the same weight as the siamang brachiation when most requests for birds are smaller ones or habitat birds. The final pack needs to be either highly requested community animals or a media based campaign pack that is instantly recognisable.

Yeah which is what is unfortunate, zoos are so important in conservation, and I would like to replicate those conservation efforts even more so.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind if Frontier shocks us with something out of left field. As much as I understand following the communities wishlist and wants, part of me is getting bored by us guessing it and being almost right every time.

I’m not disagreeing! I will also say that animal list I didn’t mean to be a pack, I was just thinking off the top of my head. Apologies for the confusion!

I think a final pack around zoos and their legacies might be cool. You can still incorporate some meta wishlist animals, but I just wish we had some other thing to talk about than a South/ Central America or Meta Wishlist worldwide pack.

So I looked at the calendar today.
Noting where Easter is and how announcements have been made in the past. I think in one month from now we will get a tease with a stream following a few days later. Unless this is a build dlc, I know 2022 and tropical builds had 2 weeks so they can showcase both animals and scenery, Oceania skipped it leading me to believe they may not do that again.
If this is our final farewell then I’d say maybe all together they are gonna break tradition.
Or they can drive us crazy like they did in 2022 with the wetlands taking forever to announce.

THEORY! The DLC may come VERY late this spring, like late April to even late May to focus on the console, build up the newfound console crowd, THEN hit us with the DLC.
