Spring 2024 PDLC speculation

A possibility of mini-exhibits?
No. Microraptor is something that I undoubtedly think they’ll make as an aviary type species, just like the tiny Jehlopterus.

I think they’ll keep all free roaming AI dinosaurs in regular enclosures, no matter how big or tiny they are. While those they deem ill suited for that, if any, will be in looped pre-built habitats, like Planet Zoo’s exhibit animals.

Just earlier today, a new interim report , which Frontier publishes every January-February on their website, has been released and its presentation report has confirmed a new PDLC release for FY24 (June 1-May 31), page 9. Normally, I would be waiting for an LQA update ever since first learning of them, like I did for the latest pack, and there isn’t another one yet. But, this is an exceptional circumstance.

I’m almost certain it will be a 4+ dino pack, but nobody knows for sure what it will have.

The only most likely scenario I can come up with at this time is a “Small Carnivore [Species] Pack” for a few good enough reasons. Mainly because there are files attributed to such dinosaurs, one from the Jurassic period (Segisaurus) and three from the Cretaceous period (Austroraptor, Dilong, and Microraptor), in the folders of the latest DLC pack, and its vibes are not like the files of unused species for JWE1. The previous game likely had those files way longer than when they were first shared by the community because one of them were undoubtedly left over files for the Sinoceratops because of similarly recorded lines as well as the fact it was originally named “Pachyrhinosaurus” during Fallen Kingdom’s production.

(Example)
Old file: “This Pachyrhinosaurus should prove interesting.”
Retail file: “This Sinoceratops should prove interesting.”

Another reason why I think so is because in JWE2, all of the dinosaurs are sorted into three different size categories: Small, Medium, and Large. Something that JWE1 has never done before. All of the four said dinosaurs, based on the categorization of current in-game dinosaurs, would undoubtedly fall into the “Small” category, especially since all other 4+ dino packs have species containing two or all three size categories and not just one.

Either way, whether my speculation is true or not, there is one and final thing for the last half of FY24, as there’s usually no two or more PDLCs within this said timeframe for their games, until the next financial year.

My God I just hope that we're not going to get more Dino packs...

WE NEED REAL CONTENT!!!
We need more buildings, more challenges, improved mechanics, bug fixes, new maps, just anything BUT a Dino Pack...!

More Dino variety does NOT add anything towards gameplay.

I agree, but after an entire year without one, I don't see an Expansion coming this year. There might be a DLC for the Chaos Theory Netflix show, but it seems more likely the species will just be in normal packs over time.

There's supposed to be another Jurassic movie next year (early July 2025), which would be reason for a sequel or Major DLC (assuming JWE2 is still supported).

1 new management game per future financial year with a "new own-IP CMS game for release in FY25" (likely Planet Coaster 2), seems to indicate there won't be a JWE3 before the movie, and a release planned for after seems unusual (FY ending in June, and starting in July of the previous year).

It should be noted that, with the case for both JWE1 and JWE2, Rich Newbold in a Newsweek interview article I often bring up here in the forums said that, after they finished the Return to Jurassic Park expansion pack for JWE1, the team (or much of the team) moved on to develop JWE2 to explore new storytelling opportunities in a sequel format with Universal's collaboration. That's why there was nothing for a year and a half after that PDLC released, minus the Complete Edition Switch port for JWE1.

After all, Jurassic World Evolution 2 was something they confirmed to have signed a contract for as early as March 06, 2019. But it wouldn't confirm to be so until the day after the game's official announcement in a trading update report. While it isn't necessary for game companies to speak of their contract signages and greenlights for license games, Frontier have done so for every single known license game they've released and yet-to-release thus far (Jurassic World Evolution 1&2, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, and their four F1 Manager games), and I would think they would probably have done so for another Jurassic World Evolution game a long time ago before any of the three CMS games were announced to be underway, especially if it would be great news for their comeback strategies.

Also, financial/fiscal years are not all the same for everyone. Frontier's case is June 01-May-31.

I hope still that the fact of a new big TV show ( Chaos Theory ) mid 2024 and a new JW Movie for mid 2025 gives JWE II good chances to get updates , Expansions and PDLC´s at least till Mid 2025.
With the nice advertising effect for JWE II it would be a really bad decision from Frontier not to keep JWE II alive .
Only logical reason to end support of JWE II mid 2024 would be if JWE III is comming mid 2025 and they need all recources to bring it just in time to be ready for lunch together with the new JW Movie!

Let´s hope this Spring 2024 PDLC will be a bigger Expansion Pack ( With new Buildings/Attractions/maps and some Story ) instead of just another 4 creature PDLC ;) !

Three seems the point where it's more likely a pattern than not, so certainly seems like a Pterosaur/Aviary focus for the next update. 2 weeks since the last one, about 2.5 weeks between first and second.

I guess it's a counterpart to the Marine species pack, and those were mostly pretty distinct forms, so they're probably going beyond Pterosaurs. I guess the Dominion locust has a shot, hopefully not as 1/4 of the species pack (live bait is what I'd expect, if at all), then of course there's Meganeura, Yi qi and Microraptor/Archaeopteryx, as the main non-pterosaur candidates.

An aviary pack would make a lot of sense. Could be fun.

If it is, I'm hoping for:
Hatzegoptertyx
Archaeopteryx
Dearc or Rhamphorhynchus.
And maybe Pterodaustro

All of your species are very good candidates ;) !
I would hope for Dearc and Ramphorhynchus because we have very few Jurassic Pterosaur but many Cretaceous Pterosaurs ingame.
Joker-Animals could be Microraptor or Meganeura .
But for the free Update I would wish for ...
1.) Walking-animations for all existing Pterosaurs or at least for some of them like Quetzalcoatlus!
2.) Social-animations for all Pterosaurs!
3.) Pteranodon Lost World 1997 Variant
4.) Some really High rocks (for lagoon too ! ), even one with waterfall ( Natural looking fountain) like we had in the RTJP Aviary.
5.) Kelp as placeable deco for the lagoons ;) !

If we're getting an Aviary DLC, the best we could get for NEW UNIQUE stuff for the game would probably be

  1. Rhamphorhynchus (The most requested Flying Reptile)
  2. Archaeopteryx (Iconic/Not a Pterosaur)
  3. Pterodaustro (Unique looking Pterosaur with a diet to match)
  4. Microraptor (Why not have a flying Dromeosaur? Apparently it could have powered flight.)
If at least the first three make it (or Archaeopteryx and Microraptor swap) we got a good pack. Nothing too similar to what we had before, name recognition... etc.
