If Fleet Carriers are going to be a thing, we need a Squadron Bank to go along with them.
Or a Squadron bank in general.
Squadron Bank should function as follows:
It should be relatively easy to manage from a Squadron Leader's standpoint since many of these mechanics are already built into PP, Missions, etc and largely automated by the game (NPC pilot crew members already get a cut, penalties for failing to deliver on missions, payout from PP membership, etc) and, I would assume, wouldn't be impossible to implement on the Squadron end.
In an ideal universe, Squadron banks could interact with one another as well:
This opens up a new layer of game play for both the PVE and PVP crowd.
I-D-W Mechanic:
At the Wanted stage, the offended Squadron bank automatically issues a bounty against the offending CMDR that can be fulfilled by both NPCs and CMDRs. Once offending CMDR is killed, their bounty is added to their rebuy and remitted to the offended bank (less a collection fee paid to CMDR or NPC).
Solo / PG / Open disparity:
"Bank / Material Runs":
- Squadron Bank is only able to loan out a certain % of their money / materials (example hard line at 50% of available credits / mats) to ensure bank / material runs aren't possible.
Yes, many of these things happen in game already between player groups, squadrons, etc (i.e. you do X for Y - meta materials, opals, BGS stroking).
However, it would be nice to see this implemented into the game itself through the addition of Squadron banks.
Or a Squadron bank in general.
Squadron Bank should function as follows:
- CMDRs in a squadron have X percentage of their income (both from missions and PP) automatically sent to bank (just like NPC pilot crews get their cut).
- CMDRs can also send materials, mats, etc.
- CMDRs in a squadron receive an income from from the Squadron Bank (just like they do for PP).
- CMDRs in a squadron can "borrow" money and mats from the bank with the expectation that they are paid back. If they are not paid back, there can be some interesting mechanics built into that (interest, default, and - ultimately - wanted).
- X Squadron puts out a request for Y (money, materials, bounties, protection) and other CMDRs (or squadrons) can fulfill those contracts.
- X Squadron loans money and goods to Squadron Y (again - interest, default, wanted - if Squadron Y fails).
This opens up a new layer of game play for both the PVE and PVP crowd.
- PVE squadrons being attacked by murder hobos? Hire a goon squad to run protection or post your own bounty.
- PVP squadrons too busy being murder hobos to collect mats and materials? Hire a PVE group to do your grinding for you.
- If either party fails to pay back what they owe, the interest, default, wanted mechanic kicks in.
I-D-W Mechanic:
- You borrow X from Squadron bank (whether money or materials - as materials have a monetary value), you have until the next tic to pay it off.
- If you don't pay it off by end of borrow tic, the next week it's there with Interest.
- If you don't pay it off by end of interest tic, you've entered into Default (what happens at this stage is additional penalty plus threat of becoming wanted)
- If you don't pay it off by end of default tic, you've become Wanted.
- Solo / PG CMDRs are limited to interacting with their own Squadron Bank.
- Open CMDRs can interact with other Open banks.
- Open CMDRs who default on loans and hide in Solo / PG still have to contend with NPC bounty hunters.
"Bank / Material Runs":
- Squadron Bank is only able to loan out a certain % of their money / materials (example hard line at 50% of available credits / mats) to ensure bank / material runs aren't possible.
