SRV Animations - "Frontier" concept video

Hello folks,

This looks pretty cool! However, we don’t believe that this is official. It doesn’t look like the format of any of our internal work, and we’ve spoken with members of the development team and nobody recognises this.

Good quality animation, though.

Mentioned to Eagleboy last night on IRC that I didn't think this was a genuine Frontier video.

You get Tricksters like this - go to a lot of trouble faking up something like that, knowing a lot of folks will lap this stuff up because they want it to be TRUE godsdamnit! A clue was in questions like "where did you get this from" remaining unanswered.

I mean there's only two possibilities here : 1) It's genuineFrontier and the cat's out of the bag and now they're denying it here meanwhile searching for a leaker, or 2) It was made by a Trickster and it fools a few folks.

I was more inclined for (2). I doubt Will/Frontier would tell fibs about this (and be on an internal manhunt). ;)

Ok, I never realized exit is at front.

Also....jeez, how much prototyping and animation testing they do that aren't included in the game? No wonder why they are so...slow :D

Or this is ISOKIX work? :)

If you go to bughunters SRV you see it has opened up the front hatch for his escape, that might have inspired this

This isn't actually all that lengthy if everything played out at once instead of in sequence.

I would suggest that the side door initially had some inward or outward movement (like an aircraft door) then slid backward, inward or outward of the cockpit bubble to open...not that difficult an action considering it's already current and widely used aerospace technology from commercial aircraft to the space shuttle.

This isn't possible for a round door in this space.

Not just that. The official SRV concept art has included the front door from the beginning.

Translation:

I have tracked down the artist who accidentally leaked it and taught them a lesson. No more Spacelegs for them, in fact they have no legs at all now.....twirls evil moustache

So the SRV is the new BMW Isetta?

That's exactly what a commuity manager with the name of Will Flanagan would say if concept stuff gets leaked. ;)
Space Legs CONFIRMED!!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!! :D

The painfully slow wait time for watching all of that animate every time before being able to get out of the SRV had me convinced it was official Fdev.

It does make sense that this isn't Frontier's work. Everyone knows that everything gets ejected out the bottom of the ship, not the front. :D
