srv bug (an observation)

So I've been frustrated with the bug involving the scooping of items with the SRV, but noticed something interesting. This morning I needed to gather some specific mats, wanted to do it quick so I went to bug killer crash site. used to be quick and easy for what I needed. Kind of a go to... anyway. I could pick up like regular there, no relog every item etc. picked all items in one go. But when you restart, even quit game, nothing respawned. Had to leave orbit and quit game (not just to menu) to get it to respawn, then all items back. picked everything in one run.. wash rinse repeat..

So I'm wondering if there's a relationship there? or did I just miss a quick fix and this is my first experience of it.

P.S. I am a recent Xbox to PC transfer so I realize there are PC specific issues I am likely not aware of, and so thought it prudent to point that out.

Interesting.
This is the FD "normal" anti-relog mechanic - until you mentioned it, i thought it was valid only for Odyssey stuffs (Settlements and Ody POIs)
If this anti-relog mechanic was implemented for old Horizons POIs too (Dav's hope, Bug killer Anaconda or the Jamesons Crashed Cobra), then... well i still hope it's working in the horizons client, because my Adaptive Encryptors Capture are on zero since the last Data CG.

Else, supercruising in/out will be so much more grindier than what it was, without correcting the underlying issue regarding the rarity of certain g5 materials

Dav's works fine on the relog (just ran it last night), but you can only scoop one item at a time. As for Jameson's, thankfully scanning isnt affected, so scan/relog away. Seems to be just this site as far as the above mentioned locations are concerned, and I thought it very interesting that at this one location scooping works correctly, but no were else to my knowledge.

There was a hotfix yesterday at noon that supposedly fixed the cargo scoop issues

As a bonus for the bug killer at least, if you hop out and use the Arc cutter you get 6x as many materials to scoop.

Personally im trying to play without any relogging, since Ody. It always felt... wrong, somehow, so thats really nice for me.

The cargo racks that you shoot from your SRV for Ruthenium / Antimony / Tellurium. If you get out and use the Arc cutter on them instead of shooting from the SRV, 6 cannisters of materials drop out instead of just one. (you do then have to get back into the SRV to scoop them, annoyingly)
This is some good info, thanks.

I totally agree on the relog, hate it. Totally kills emersion. Unfortunately, as I am rebuilding from a transfer from Xbox its just a necessary evil right now. Rebuilding a fleet, reestablishing engineers, etc takes enough time and effort without self torcher lol. That being said, once I have all my ships in a row so to speak, I will be following suite.

Its actually pretty much the only instance i can think of where on foot gameplay has a direct impact on ship gameplay.

Hint Fdev, there should be a lot more of this kind of thing. Say, those biological labs sometimes have Pharmaceutical isolators stored, sometimes. Military bases could occasionally have military supercapacitors, etc. It would make it all feel more integrated and also help solve the problem of some G5 manufactured materials being annoyingly difficult to get. Two birds with one stone.

Not sure that would work though I agree there needs to be a bit more cross-interaction between the two... instances I guess for lack of a better word. I don't know if you've tried but even though your account keeps your (ship) mats with you at all times it will not allow you to pick up ship mats while on foot. Kind of disappointed in that to be honest.. there are times (like say Dav's hope) were running around on foot to gather mats might be fun. Also its worth noting you can shoot crystals etc. with your rifle, but you still have to climb into the SRV to pick them up..
Talk about a fun foot fest. get your guys together and hop around shooting about picking up crystals? that could be a blast.. but oh well. Meanwhile, on foot you can carry a rocket big enough to one-hit a ship? While I understand the rockets are like that to discourage strafe runs on a battlefield, seems a bit out of balance.

Uh, not any kind of decent ship. Maybe a stock sidewinder or something.
ah ic, ya I've really only got vids to go on for that, probably old news then. Still haven't done much more than a few normal missions on the odyssey side. As I said, recent transfer so still a lot to learn odyssey wise. Good to know.

I already knew that. What I don't understand and also find annoying is that you still have to unpack the SRV to collect the parts. If the game was at least halfway consistent, you could expect to be able to collect the material on foot. After all, it's the stuff that has no weight in our inventory. Is there a plausible explanation why this shouldn't work?
Been wondering the same thing...

I agree it would be nice.

The canisters are pretty large and would be extremely cumbersome, but that doesn't really apply too well in low G environments as a reason why we cant.

They are too big to go in a rucksack, and the pilots federation has rules that everyone must be able to equip an energylink at a moments notice?

Even if that is a technical limitation of some kind, it would'nt have to be a show stopper. These bases are accessible to SRVs, if you put the drops in an outside location - probably in those cargo racks. Probably defended in some way (eg a shield generator that has to be turned off for the SRV to access), but its certainly not impossible to come up with something

hmm ya, maybe "encumber" yourself, slowing a bit and limiting other actions until you reached a storage. not bad. encumbrance after all doesn't necessarily have to mean its heavy, just award. Been in plenty of situations IRL where it wasn't so much the weight as to how difficult a thing (or person lol.. just ask my college or USMC buddies) was to carry over its shape.
