In-Development Srv Survey

An independent tool that provides on-screen assistance when a player is near a planet in the SRV, on foot or in ships. It has 3 main functions:
  • Organic scans: Track the location of organic scans and the distance required for the next scan.
  • Ground target tracking: Aiming guidance towards latitude/longitude co-ordinates.
  • Guardian sites: Track visited areas and the locations of items within Guardian ruins and structures.
  • Ram Tah Helpers: Helps with the both Ram Tah missions by showing which logs are available at a site, which obelisks contains logs and which items are needed to scan each obelisk.

I'm deep out in the black and just read about this mod... Tried it yesterday, and love it! Thank you. Now I'm wondering why FD don't build stuff like this into ED themselves?

I just completed another Exobiology trip using this app. It is super useful and having the HUD to determine distances was a great time saver, especially across the 500m + distance threshold. I was using the Github version but I have found the version from the App store a lot more stable. Thanks for all the work, I use it all the time now.

Love this but after the most recent update, it keeps saying importing data I have quite a few logs and it never seems to finish. Played for 90m and it’s still stuck it seems importing

I have one small problem with the app - when it's working in the background and I have system map open, almost every time I try to close the system map by clicking on the appropriate "back" button, if I'm not extremely careful I end up touching one of the overlays in the left down corner (it seems to be overlapping with that button a bit) and it sends the cursor to the center of the display. Can be quite frustrating.
Edit: I just realised that there's "prevent mouse entering overlay windows" option I can uncheck and it solves my problem. Somehow I missed that.

I had this issue, so i just reinstalled and that helped.

Moving that bottom left overlay right a bit could help... But it can get big on large systems.

@grinning2001 how about it being right-aligned? I don't recall any gui elements in that corner?

Can someone please explain to me as if I am 5 years old, how to create a screenshot of the Guardian site. I go there, it navigates me the bearing, instruct me to go to 650m and then what?

Once you've reached the desired location/altitude for a site ...

(You can see this process in action in this video at the 2:14 point)

A) Switch to external camera, where the camera is behind your ship and switch to free-floating mode.
(Optionally shift the camera to be approx under where the cockpit is)

B) Make the camera look straight down, use the markers from SrvSurvey to align the camera with the site.
(Depending on your monitor size/ratio, the makers may not line up perfectly, but this is okay. The point is that you're consistently aligning the camera each time)

C) Press F10 for a regular screenshot and/or ALT + F10 for a high resolution one.

If you have SrvSurvey processing in-game images, it will add a box in the top right corner with details of the image, and can collect images into site specific folders too. Meaning, keep Alpha images apart from Beta and Gamm, etc. See more about this in the SrvSurvey wiki. There are a number of settings for image processing, though there are many apps that do similar things:

Be careful with "Remove original file after conversion" if you choose to have multiple apps process the images
