July 29, risk of being a day full of effervescence on the servers of downloads and the forums
still I can't upgrade my copy to a standard beta. Is it a common issue?
I hope it is just because they haven't changed it in the store yet (I got it from KS, my SO doesn't and wishes to upgrade).
Sent an email, hope to hear back after the weekend.

To my knowledge those who ordered a boxed copy will also be able to download a digital version so that they will not have to wait for their boxed version to arrive.Uhm... I just woke up, what day is it?

well, here we go. Finally I will jump in, even if it's impossible now to make an upgrade from the standard version. But there is one month to fix it
Another subject is the life expansion pack, it's a leap of faith. What do you think will be the price for the single expansions?
I would think you'd be eagerly awaiting the Robot rebellion DLC and the skinjobs DLC later too....

I am so looking forward to the next stage ( Beta ) and as an Alpha backer i would like to say welcome in advance to all those who will be joining us when Beta comes out in a few weeks
When the game releases i will be buying the boxed collectors edition (if it becomes available ) as soon as i can, to support FD even though i will automatically get a downloadable version of the game. because when i was in Alpha and now public Beta i have found this game to be so enjoyable and the player community so good that for me it is money well spent and for this game it is worth getting a special boxed edition.

I was wondering if a boxed edition would be produced. I know they really aren't necessary these days but it is nice to have something tangible. I will definitely buy one if they do.
Yes, boxed premium edition was one of the kickstarter rewards. I'm not sure if you can still get this. I got me boxed edition on order
Boxed version was KS reward. I think they will produce additional limited amount of them to sell in the shop (especially with map and manual), still it will be rare thing I guess.

Manual is meant to cover core principles, which I don't expect to change much.
Infact my bet is 1 milion in one month (so at the full retail price) and for a game like Elite is huge. And the sales will rise after the word is spread .
This is my idea:
60k elite backers + a lot (near all I think) from the SC fan base who didnt already backed ED + the vast majority that didn't backed and just waited for the final release + another part of people who missed the development and will discover it with the reviews.
1 million in a month? That's way too optimistic. I will be surprised if it even sells a million in its lifetime.
Once elite is 'complete' , which for me isn't until planetary is completed .. Then maybe word or mouth might spread a bit. But in the end elite is very much a British thing thing .. It was never that big outside of the UK.
With SC and No Mans Sky doing the rounds as well I can't see it going over a million. Elite is firmly for the fans, there will be new fans as well, but the majority will be fans of the original.
Maybe 3 or 4 years down the road with console versions as well, it might gain some more support, and maybe push over a million at that point, but otherwise I am not expecting it to do as well as something like Minecraft for example.
That's not being pesemistic by the way .. Its being realistic .. Anything else is a bonus , and in all honesty being a shareholder in FD,, I want ED to be as much as a success as anyone else.
