It does not seem bad but compared to the Aurora and Mustang...Beta i think it does have some drawbacks.

  • It's about 20% slower than other starters
  • It's slower than a multicrew bomber (70 meter long Retaliator with 5 crew is faster)
  • It lack's a "log out" bed
  • It does not start with a jump module but can be installed
Other than that, it's a cute little ship that might perhaps fit the (not yet made) ground bike with a bit of luck.
Jump module...you mean a QT drive? It has one fitted as standard unlike the other snubs fitted to the Connies. I gave it a fly around last night after melting a silly space motorbike for the expedition version which has 4 guns instead of the 2 fitted to the peasant canoe version...which surprise surprise...I had in my hangar when I visited the PU last night to try the 3.7.2 patch.

I say surprise twice...because a closer than normal glance at my hangar page on the RSi website, I discovered another Carrack... which was part of a long forgotten exploration package hidden amongst the long list of other crap in my hangar (helmets, space suits and groovy sunglasses) I got for less than half price on the grey market a year or so ago...so I had 2 Carracks all along

I sold or melted most of the ships in the package off...Freelancer DUR, Terrapin and some sundries but forgot about the Carrack...with LTI. I buy, melt and sell so much SC stuff on the grey market, I'd forgotten most of the crap I actually have.

Nah, it works like this:

  • Local flight : Regular engines
  • In-System flight : Quantum Drive
  • To another system : Jump module installed on a quantum drive

So most ships start with a jump module and snubs cannot have them but then we have the in-betweeners that can install one but do not start with it.

You forgot about a Carrack in your hangar? Jesus Christ.
Well the Carrack is confirmed to have a cargo capacity of 456 SCU, which is 120 less than a Caterpillar. Not bad if you only wanted one ship and you're interested in hauling but want to dabble in other things, safer than a Cat too I bet.

Sounds to me like it's been nerfed ;)

Aye, I suspected that it would realistically have between 350-500 SCU...not too disappointed with that considering it has a working snub and a rover to boot. Part of a cunning plan by Ci¬G not to upset the Cat owners too I bet ;)

I'll use the Cat for proper hauling...Carrack (now I still have one) will be for general scooting about with cargo. I also said I wouldn't be adding any more ships...but that Mole sounds intriguing...4 player multicrew mining in a namesake ship, I'll melt something for it...I have a few useless ships lying about somewhere that are roughly in the same expected price range I'm sure. :p

A new image of it has appeared...

Strangely enough...It looks similar enough to my New Holland combine, I'll feel right at home :D

you can get a pass because of the name thing, any other time you would be getting an eyeroll :sneaky:
Ach...it's not like I'll be paying much for it...a few bucks for an upgrade from something similarly priced. A Harbinger which I rarely use...or the Valkyrie perhaps...depending on how extortionate Ci¬G are with the pricing.
