Today's video - erm, mining upgrades in the form of - presumably priced consumables that the players demanded!

Waffle!

Alien dropships! That humans perfectly fit into! With one-way transparent armour and interior peaceful forest lighting, that looks like it's unfortunately on fire.

A bit more waffle!

Still no games.

edit - Hang on! If the Tevarin were so technologically superior and protective of their crews, why did they get so utterly whomped every single time?
Looking forward to playing with the new mining head sub-attachments. The slots for them are already there in the ship equipment manager so it'll be nice to see how they work...if at all. I noticed in the clip that they were mining a rock with quantanium in it (raw QT fuel)...currently not in 3.8, so it looks like a bit more content to the only fleshed out gameplay mechanic in Star Citizen...mining is pretty good as it is but could do with some larger, more varied and more difficult to mine deposits to keep it interesting for us full on manic miners...

Esperia dropship thing...don't have it, don't want it.

Today's video[...]
Any signs of Erin in this video?

It's strange how he seemed to have vanished, even weirder almost nobody talks about this. Erin was important, wasn't he? I was told "only a perfectionist like Chris can make SQ42 possible, but Erin is the one who'd make it a reality, he was hired especially for that" and given the official stance is "all hands on SQ42 deck" (even if every factual signs yell the contrary) we should get news from/about him.

Oh and there's Sandi missing too... Long time no cry.

It caters to the FPS crowd, hence my thoughts about FPS and its comparison with other products on the market. Also from the mouth of one player in game, the hardcore FPS crowd actually left SC for better pastures ? Heard they were tired of server desyncs and poor hit registration..

Like 99.99% of folks who enjoy a bit of FPS now and then...I go play something that is actually competent at doing that and not Star Citizen, which isn't... by any stretch of the imagination ;)

If Ci¬G continue to pander to the adversarial combat fanatics but also continue to keep that function in the game almost unplayable, they'll lose not only the non combat oriented backers who currently do play despite the increasingly short sighted focus on pew related activities, but also the aggressive testosterone fueled eejits who like that sorta thing...It's not emergent content, it's pure and simple pew at it's cheapest and easiest to maintain and unimaginitive worst. Fuel ratting is emergent gameplay, shooting other players in the face isn't, no matter how the protagonists like to dress it up with fancy descriptions... especially given how poor it is in Star Citizen both in ships and on foot..

It probably turned out that creating a video game is a team effort and one man alone can never save it.

So how does the FPS part of SC or "Star Marine", you know that purely FPS sub game that has been rushed and abandoned just as fast, compare to a more than 20 year old game, i would say the picture is not pretty, despite the difference in graphics.

It LOOKS better so obviously Star Marine is superior in every possible way /doh

....also you are a hater feeling threatened by SCs superiority. There, complete psycho session free of charge, I ll take that upvote, thank you ^^

That was quick !!

I have tried a bit of space combat, and it's still full of issues: AI ships are non responsive or absolutely stupid and suicidal, missiles will or will not appear depending on some quantic experiment that is the game engine, they will or will not detonate when on target depending also on the collapse of some wave function, AI ships will desync and move in sudden jerks in totally random directions - which is absolutely annoying with small light fighters -, hit registration is also depending on the will of some deity, shields do have random holes as CiG forgot to make them overlap, there is no "match target speed" control, absolutely zero indication on which weapon does what, against shields or armor or both (and the tiny bits of information i could gather are not agreeing with each other), and some weapons are plain not working at all due to server desync issues.
Also bullet speed (that includes lasers in that game, since they have a finite speed, which is about as fast as regular bullets..) is way too slow to match the ships acceleration especially with the total absence of lag compensation and server desync.

CIG: "Ahh, sorry for that... Oh look we just implemented unwrapping chocolate bar, and here some vids about our next $400+ chariot! Progress!"

Details. Details only the Unbelievers like to stick to and pull up from God knows where again and again.

Lol yeah, amazing isnt it. Now for that survival thing, if you take it out of context, it's not a bad idea per se in a MMO where there is no skill levelling or no real grind - i am not counting grinding in-game moolah to buy a new ship (considering everyone seems to fly around with that new $600 space penguin).
But here were are, CiG will implement that, its like these videos where you see some guy riding a bicycle down a flight of stairs, you know what is going to happen.

I don't know… Bethesda tried it. Sure, that was with skill levelling and a grind, but still. They managed to take one of the few saving graces from Fo4 and turn it into the dumbest thing ever, and unlike the pre-schoolers over at CI¬G, they actually do have some game design experience over there. It's not well used, but at least it exists and at least it has had some moderate success in the past. I mean, your conclusion works either way — I'm just doubtful about the “not bad idea per se” part.

In related news… LM*********O :ROFLMAO:

Its a steaming pile of doggy doo doo.

Brian Chambers basically handwaved away the question about the roadmap with pure bull manure. "Spoilers". They already tried that excuse years ago regarding not showing anything to do with SQ42 and then released that 1 hour long SQ42 promo thing. Sorry CIG, i don't buy your spoiler excuse one bit, and you can absoloutely do a roadmap without spoilers.

However, some of the responses from backers once again proves that CIG can say whatever they want and some people will lap it up thinking by listening to CIG's tripe it makes them experts on game development.

And at the end of the day, he gave no indication at all as to whether SQ42 is on track. Is there even a chance of the SQ42 beta this year at all? Is it on track for a release in 2021?

My guess is probably not.

Most open development ever?

My left rear cheek!

SQ 42 is making news... interesting timing after a settlement has been reached.

I wonder if it will go full speed ahead now. Also, heard 3.9 is in the hands of the Evocati
