Hello all,

Our previous SC thread reached the 10,000 post limit. As such, it's time for a new thread for Star Citizen discussions. If you want to discuss Star Citizen, this is the place to do so!

As always, the following rules are in effect for this thread (in addition to the per-forum rules here).
  1. If you cannot debate the subject, and decide to debate, troll, flame, harass, stalk the user/person - your post(s) and all follow up posts will be removed and moderated.
  2. This thread is for the discussion of Star Citizen only. Off-topic discussions will be removed.
  3. Moderation will be dealt with by the Community managers and volunteer moderators. There is no need to publically call for moderation. Simply report any posts for review by clicking the icon.
  4. Posting of offensive, degrading, or mocking content will not be tolerated.

Weeeeeell… there are some effects on specific impulse that depend on the pressure difference between the interior and exterior of a combustion chamber, and that will obviously depend on altitude in atmo, up to and including being in a vacuum. It's not a “drastic difference”, however, but a continuum going from a minimum at the surface to a maximum in open space. It sounds more like someone at CI¬G opened up the KSP wiki and started copying ideas… :D
Lol yeah I know about ambient pressure vs. exhaust plumes with bell nozzles, which is why the S-IC produced 7.5mil lbs of thrust at launch and close to 9mil at altitude iirc. Elite does at least have the good grace to use truncated aerospikes for its thrusters, which largely gets around the problem. If CIG are basically gimping thrusters in atmospheres to compensate for a lack of drag modelling, that's just all kinds of crazy - wouldn't you have to be varying the amount of each thruster's gimping, to approximate the opposing vector that drag should be operating in? i.e. drag acts opposite to the flight vector.

Hey! We hadn't had a chance to vote on the sub-title name for the thread!

Come on guys, what do you want to call it?

1) Star Citizen: Development by Surprise!
2) Star Citizen: Hotel California
3) Star Citizen: Store Citisn't
4) Star Citizen: Once the pipelines are complete the content spigot will open
5) Star Citizen: Card removed from roadmap
6) Star Citizen: Mole pretends he is a mole in a Mole
7) Star Citizen: You can't criticize alpha!
8) Star Citizen: They also fixed a jitter offset computation error with unified raymarching so that it works in harmony with the guided filter denoiser, and added transmittance-weighted depth-computation, which controls the width of the denoise kernel tin guided filtering and raymarching up-sampling results

That's just the CI¬G way: have a vague notion of something related to physics that other games handle perfectly in very sensible ways, and then implement a simulacrum of that idea in a way that in no way reflects why things work that way, just to get around the fundamental flaw of having a “flight mode” that is built around the notion of altering physics parameters to cause inputs to determine an outcome, rather than having physics determine the outcome based on input parameters. :p

Docking might be off the roadmap but the plushies are IN!

8 !!!

12 threads after, still waiting for the phone to ring so I can answer the call.

Anyone want to guess what thread number we'll get to before SC and/or Sqn42 are released and reviewed?
Been hooked on Antimatter Dimensions for the last couple of weeks, so I'm used to very, very big numbers :devilish:

Totally Number 3 ^^ Like.....totally :D

Wow, some harsh criticism on that reddit.
And Citizens complains about us here...

Occasional outbreaks can be dealt with. The unchanging tone in here is like a festering wound to people who cant accept facts. At least we are "forced" to stay civil for the most part. Reddit is just cancer.

Does this game really deserve another 10k comments after the previous 110k?
What if we stopped talking about it? Would it cease to exist in a true solipsistic manner?

You know, we made that observation quite a few times.

Interest fades and even this thread becomes pretty slow because nothing ever changes. But you can bet money on the next fanatic, fanboy or hate basher who wants to gloat or create another fairy tale so whenever things calm down we have the next joker coming in to drive the page count up ^^

Otherwise we would have activity every 3 or 4 months....you know....when something actually happens in Star Citizen. I guess if people simply stopped posting this threadnaught would drop to the back pages quickly. Whos gonna start tho?

If there are any flight sim developers on CIG's payroll, then they either need a trout to the face or to hang their heads in shame/bewilderment. How the hell does an atmosphere affect a self contained thruster's efficiency (has to be self contained or it doesn't work in space)?....there is just so much "wrong" in that statement, whoever wrote it should get thrown into a propeller as a lesson.

To help you understand how atmosphere affects thrusters in real life.
