Why use the conditional when it has been officially announced by CIG since a long time ago ?
Because their word bears minimum crdibility. Why use the conditional when it has been officially announced by CIG since a long time ago ?
No, the initial project was to have a big open lobby with limited graphical aspects + missions generated on the fly on standard maps. No need for 64bits here.I'm not sure how you can make that claim. Despite not having plans for fully landable planets at that time, the multiplayer universe as touted even in 2012 was meant to be a big open world, and space would still be big enough to require 64 bit positioning. I don't recall anyone from CIG at that time saying space was going to be tiny and made up of small discrete regions.

Nah, it bad engine.Cobra for a start. That would have been amusing
If you get 30k'd (server disconnect) you lose the lot anyway...why nobody has really trusted doing cargo for quite a while. If the game crashes, you spawn back in your ship where you left off...mostlySo if you make it to the bed, to logout, the cargo stays with you, etc, but if you get disconnected or shutdown while flying, you lose the stuffs? That seems like a very good tip, if you're doing cargo.

Star Citizen's Sean Tracy on 64-bit Engine Tech & Procedural Edge Blending | GamersNexus
stub Cloud Imperium Games has been talking about its 64-bit engine conversion for at least two years now, but we've never had a chance to properly explain the benefit of this move. Following last week's interviews with Chris Roberts (Part 1: Procedural Planets V2, Alpha 3.0 & Part 2: Weather...www.gamersnexus.net
Taking you back to the heady days of 2016 with an article that invokes "StarEngine," 64-bit positioning, refactoring, and Sean Tracy.
Of course you do...I voted that you did by proxy in any caseIn a fit of madness, after I finally got bored with Surviving Mars, I decided to return to “Fallout Shelter” as my “idle” game… on survival difficulty. Getting it to the point where it’s “stable” has taken up a lot of my “free” time while on break or lunch, so I haven’t visited this thread for four days.
I’m given to understand that my temporary silence, while pursuing other distractions, means I think Star Citizen is good now.
I found a off-off-off source comment from a backer in 2014 saying that CIG took the previous three years (but that would be 2011!) to modify CE to bring about 64-bit precision to prevent servers from crashing when larger ships were introduced.Ok, that's 2016 and it says they were working on 64 bit positioning since 2014. But that's still 2 years off.
I'm looking for something that would indicate that the initial pitch of SC wouldn't require 64 bit positioning.
The 64-bit “large world” conversion continues, and is currently on track to finish sometime around early February 2015.
Edit: There's nothing mentioned in the Kickstarter about 64-bit.

How is SC these days? Recent updates been good or bad?
Sadly my GT 1030, rusty metal platters and paltry E 1650 Xeon are not worthy.SC is great, you can also be a cool refugee. I hear there has been a mAsSiVe exodus.

I just wondered if for once SC were in less fudge than FD.
