Ci¬G stream sniping to punt new ships...

I especially like how most of the ship disappeared as it flew away. I guess Bognonus isn't running the game on a SSD!

But CIG, man, they are such.... well, i want to say a word that wouldn't pass moderation. But they'd drop their knickers for a dollar.

Yeah, Ci¬G have been rushing the Raft out for this patch so they haven't finished the LOD models yet...it'll be alright on the night

This game needs so much bug fixing and polishing.

It's not "fixing and polishing".. it's "core mechanics".

Server meshing isn't here. It's not coming in the next patch, nor the patch after that. It's planned for a year from now, but I think it was originally planned for two years ago; so we have to consider that plan "aspirational". Without meshing, you don't get most of the game.

Basic geometry isn't working (fall through planets).
Pathfinding isn't working (which is why planets don't orbit).

Salvage isn't started (and the designs make it look exactly like mining, down to a magic jar that will hold "salvage" in your gun, like how you hold minerals now).
Exploration isn't started.
Actual piracy isn't started.
Armor isn't started.
Physical damage isn't started.
Several components don't even exist (radars, grav gens, life support).
Life support isn't started.
Repair isn't started.
Medical is T0
Trade is T0 and doesn't work.
Mining is T0/T1 and also not working (rocks fall through planet, random explosions of ships, can't transfer minerals out of vehicles, etc).
Inventory is T0, and sale doesn't exist.

Combat would be in a "fixing and polishing", except that there's the intent to change it compeltely (physical shots hit physical items), none of which is more than placeholdered at the moment.

Even CIG is clearly planning on this being more than another half-decade as they are planning to ramp-up developers over the next 3-4 years.

Would be interesting if this was true though:

Last IAE netted CIG over $3mil on AEGIS day alone. This time it was half that. An Idris sitting in the pledge store for 4 days in a row has never been a thing, and so a Javelin sitting there for 3.

Idris’s not getting F5ed in seconds does sound odd.

The first wave of $900 shiny was certainly selling like hotcakes though ;)

And several chirpy new Idris owners in the comments there too. Although there was this:

I’ve no idea where you check availability though. The classic sales page is still all this is Jpeg ¯\(ツ)/¯

If true it might suggest more store credit shuffling going on this year maybe? Less warbond fresh blood etc.

EDIT: Scurrilous refundian says flood gates still merrily open regardless ;)

We must be approaching perfection…

Is this before or after whatever pressure is on the server i.e. from curious gamers taking advantage of the free to play/free ships period?

How is the server performance holding up with the increased traffic?

edit: not going to lie. That has to be the best illustration of what Mortal Kombat's Gordo and Elder Scrolls Merunes Dagon's offspring would look like :D

It's almost as though this promotion is a marketing ploy designed to rope in new whales and peasants....

Thing is, even if they make good money from sales, money only enables you to do stuff. They have Chris who is like the anti-money factor.

The only thing that is somewhat predictable is the SQ42 Ep 1 release, I think. Not as many technical hurdles and they can always just drop some of their most ambitious stuff and save it for Ep 2. I think we'll play SQ42 within the next 2-4 years.

Only potentially 10 years later than its initially planned release date!

Hah, and they are arguing whether SQ42 or SC is the focus as to why SQ42 is still SQ404. Fanboys having a go at each other.

890 Jumps are merely CCU tokens to something else ;)

Most I know...and there's a good few high level concierge in the org I'm in...are just shuffling packages around, melting certain ships or packages for store credit to change stuff around a bit...very few have spent more than $50 to perhaps add a CCU upgrade to something else.

Creative melting and CCU upgrades are what it's all about...I melted my Herc C2 standalone with LTi to change it to a Hull D with 10 years insurance...and still ended up with 2 C 2's anyway. One as a part loaner plus a Banu Defender for the BMM and another as part loaner along with a Caterpillar for the Hull D. So far with the melting and CCU'ing, I've gained 2 C2's, a Banu defender, Banu merchantman, a Starfarer Gemini, a Redeemer, a Reclaimer and a Caterpillar...and a Spartan to Gladius CCU with the spare $10... from melting 3 ships (Herc A2 and C2 plus Connie Aquila) and applying CCU's to a couple more....all costing zero dollars.

The annual November 'sale' isn't about spending money for a lot of us, it's ship shuffling or ugrading older ships and packages for new or more desirable stuff for nowt...as a for instance, my original concept BMM I bought for $250 is now a $550 CCU token should I wish to upgrade that to something else..not a likely event since the value of it will continue to rise as it nears flyable 🤷‍♂️

That is a very damning list, but pathfinding not working being the reason that planets dont orbit? That must be some mighty cosmic AI there 😋

I suspect the lack of orbits has nothing to do with path finding but rather with all the significant problems related to positioning and physics within dynamic and nested frame of reference grids that move within each other at huge speeds and distances relative to the much smaller scales where gameplay takes place in. CIG´s 64b positioning implementation has always been quite deficient and suspect. I am not sure CIG has even the intention to tackle that. FDEV managed to solve that issue but that was because offering actual celestial mechanics is one of the game´s main goals in the first place.
