Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So many river gameplay possibilities.
"Look ! Some assets are out of place in an alpha !"
He doesn't understand what this tech is for, that it's still under heavy development, that water in a flat map <> water with curvature and what it will allow for the game engine in the future : roads

In other news, the ballistic changes introduced with 3.17.5 are causing a bit of a kerfuffle

That's what you end up with after bungling around for 10 years without a game concept. Devs who have no clue how to design a game.

Step 1: CIG heavily market the incomplete rivers as looking awesome
Step 2: paytesters give feedback that the incomplete rivers are a bit rubbish
Step 3: devs get stressed with anxiety. Good job, CIG!

"I'm so glad CIG are taking their time to get things right rather than releasing half finished buggy rubbish like a certain other space sim" - SC backers since 2014.

"You just don't understand games development!"

Anyone know if he's still white knighting for SC on every gaming mag out there?

CIG: How about neither?

Another thread about the 100+ systems:

Land claim sends his regards.

Yeah I didn't buy into that. I would rather continue buying starter packs that allow me to get hangars across the verse instead of a plot of land.

That's not applicable anymore. They announced back in 2017, or 2018 that they will launch with whatever they have done at the time. The 100 is no longer guaranteed for launch.

Should remove that from the page then, bad stuff for new customers.

Except that it was made and all should know that things change due to the course of development. These answers are easy to find for those who have questions, as you just experienced.

Ah, the good old, let's leave up misleading marketing and hope the suckers don't find out the truth before the refund window closes!

But wait, here's a sensible suggestion:

They could certainly mark said page as out-of-date to avoid confusion.

But wait, better to remain deceptive about it!

It's not out of date. They still plan to create 100+ systems. To say that it is out of date is worse information than leaving it as it is.

What a twonk!

It goes on and on...

That's content and that is for beta. We are in alpha. CIG is creating the technology to create systems rapidly, so until they finalize that system, there is no telling how many it will launch with. If their ship pipeline is any indication, it wouldn't be out of order to think that they will launch with at least 20, perhaps up to 40.

LOL

And for all the white knights saying about how everything changed when they decided to do full planets:

CIG said they could make proc gen for full planets for just 1 million dollars. They knew they wanted to do full planets in April 2014 and backers provided funding for it.

Perhaps CIG were a bit pre-emptive with their "look at our awesome rivers!" marketing, seeing as said rivers are still relatively early in their respective development cycle. Market once they're ready.
If this was their philosophy, they wouldn't market anything so they won't have money.

"Sometimes feels like you can’t win. “Why isn’t this out yet?” “It’s not done.” “Release it anyways! Wait why does it look bad!?”"
Err, sorry but I don't think backers are anywhere near having the power on what must come in the next patch/update. I guess it's The Visionary's power. So yeah, you can't neither win nor finish something when "you don't say 'no' to Chris Roberts".

The interesting thing is the wording. It's for "future iterations" of Star Citizen not the current. Star Citizen V2 - Attention all whales - wallets to the ready let the funding tracker begin again!
