Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

SC is a game allowing PvP. It doesn't mean that the game is driven by PvP.
It's correct that there is no PvP slider. But you have whole series of missions dedicated to PvP and when you like to PvP, that's the ones you choose, not trying to track random players to kill them while their are doing a PvE mission.
If you believe that, you really don't know human nature. The reason Frontier had to iterate crime & punishment several times is that they (naively) thought people would play cricket in a multiplayer environment, when really all they wanted to do is kick sand in other people's faces.

So Star Citizen now has never been done Solo Mode?

Well, normally when you do a solo mode, you basically make a solo game. However, CIG have revealed that that is not a good idea, and what you first do is make a multiplayer game, and then, having separated client and server side, combine them on a single machine to create a single player game with split client/server model!

It truly has never been done before, and SQ42 will be so much better for it!

This looks like an exit strategy to me. Almost everything PU is now done by Turbulent out of Canada. Release sq42 when funding starts to slow and fire sale to Turbulent moving liability out of US and UK.

It really does.

Waiting for CR to sell the IP rights to Turbulent... oh, wait, CR already sold the IP to CIG for a cool 5 million. Ahem, waiting for CIG to sell the IP rights to Turbulent, and at that point, they shut down CIG, say "poo poo" to backers, all debts are cleared, Turbulent hire CR as "creative director", CR pockets a few million, Turbulent work on the game going foward, CIG goes bankrupt, and all obligations cleared.

Cannot wait to run the entire SC stack locally to be able to play through the Magnum Opus.

Yeah, but who would by "SC" from Turbulent knowing it has just got the IP on a distress fire sale and the original promise and dream are out of the picture, including its legendary visionary who is not in command anymore?

Well, going out on a limb here, but it wouldn't be pitched like that. It would be pitched as the BDSSE, and everything bad would be blamed on other actors within CIG, while Turbulent, who for years have been building a reputation as those who deliver on SC, will be hailed at the new saviours of the BDSSE.

A new round of funding starts, fuelled by more JPG sales, and life goes on.
