Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

For once something good from the reddit SC community

For those not in the know, reddit are making some changes that will effectively shut third party reddit apps down (huge charges for API access). Reddit users overall are not happy with this change, since the official app sucks and browsing reddit on mobile requires a third party app to actually be bearable.

Unfortunately, refunds hasn't taken the same stance, but they have been hit by reddit admins with some new rules.

All seems to tie towards reddit going for an IPO and trying to look more appealing to investors.

Looks like they've gone and done a Digg.

little ant must post when they are doing bounties in hurston. takes 30 minutes to fly to one. have done the equivalent of 1.5 hutton runs so far tonight and no mug.

It's easy, just two clicks away...

Looks very pretty. Sounds like a total pain though:

... a pain perhaps when you don't know how to play the game.
QT and U key are your friends.
I guess you don't know it too.

(Just remember to set white knight to 'on' in your shaders folder ;))

It has a lot of potential, but being single player..... single player games are dead.

You are assuming that gravity generation also equates to gravity nullification, this doesn't really follow, because if you nullify real gravity then you should also nullify the artificial gravity.
It's a game, you do what you want.
The day someone invent a real life a gravity generator, you could come here and explain me what a real generator do. But for now, you do what you want with gravity generator in a game. If I need a gravity generator for a game that nullify at the same time the external gravity, I can do it because for now, a gravity generator is more about magic than technic...

My dear LittleAnt, you have just perfecty described Star Citizen in it's entirety. It's more about magic than technic.

And magic isn't real. That is why CI-G are hoping to deliver a poor Q3A derivative, something that hopes to be Battlezone, and pretend it's making progress whilst taking even longer to deliver less.

It's quite obvious that development of the PU has, for all intents and purposes, stalled whilst they struggle with PES, server meshing and reliant tech. Ci~G are left with nothing more to do but add fluff and nonsense or rehash what is basically nothing more than the original 10 year old and pre-Peristent Universe dogfighting module... until such time that all the technical blockers to further development of the main PU are resolved or contained. Star citizen is marking time with the remaining teams of developers not directly involved with Sqn 404 making 'busy work'.

It's not that hard to work out :)

But so much fun to play ! That's the magic, it's broken but already fun to play.
Deliver less ? Each patch deliver and each delivered part is added to the part already delivered. If you compare to some other game that had simply stopped delivered, I see it like a win...

Assuming high tolerance of game breaking buggy behauviour? I mean even at their worst Cyberpunk 2077, EDO, and so on, mostly ran, and did not unceremoniously dump players to main menu or desktop, or lost their stuff for good and so on and on.

The Acme Corporation Gravity Generator with Planetary Body Mass Nullification module™ will arrive considerably before Star Citizen.

(I think my capitalisation went a little Trumpian there, but it is what It iS.)

SC has indeed effectively stopped delivering meaningful growth content, for a long while. Not fun at all for many SC players. And the little that is somewhat "delivered" is seen like this even on Spectrum:

I was under the impression that feature work would mature through the SQ42 path and emerge in the PU as a result. For the life of me, I can't think of anything that's appeared this year that's taken that path. I'm sure I'm mistaken so thought I'd ask.

Their argument was based on a half-truth/half-omission.....again.
To quote Blackadder: "There was a tiny flaw in their plan... it was [male spherical glands] ".

I get separated from my ship due to bugs. There is no way for me to track my ship to recover it manually.
Super. Weak.

You can't advertise the game to try bring in new players when the PU is in such a sorry state. In the current live build, I am constantly CTDing (every 45mins to an hour) or the server 30Ks and dies. My graphics driver is the latest one. My specs in case it matters: i9 12900K, 3090 and 64 GB of RAM. My computer is not overclocked.

etc
