Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Meanwhile, in a prior greymarket discussion of falling prices...

It's hodling time for some...

It’s a gamble. I put all my bets on CIG. Let’s see how it turns out

EDIT: And... Time for, whatever this is...

This same trend occurs before IAE and Invictus. It is no surprise that it is ramping up leading up to Citizencon. Market norm is 60% for RSI Store Credit and it drops to 50% right before these events.

For sellers that don't have pledges worth much value or pledges with low interest around them, selling these Store Credits is the best way for them to increase their concierge level.

If you have $5k you can easily sell 10k worth of RSI Store Credit by recycling that 50% money from each sale to buy more Store Credit to sell.

I don't think I would :)
Imagine looking at a TLS encrypted stream, inside of that is HTTP, inside of that is base64, inside of that is RC4 encrypted, inside of that is a struct with magic number, inside of that is snappy compressed data, inside of that is JSON, inside of that the fields are hex-encoded strings, inside of that is XML, inside of that the fields are hex-encoded strings. And that's the API. What kind of absolute moron would design something like that, haha

The instant I read this, I was reminded of the horror time I needed to write a module to connect to an external SOAP service. Never again.

I had been wondering if CIG hiring people straight out of university had anything to do with their product and now I know.
Could a bloated XML slow down the game to affect performance some?

People can find ways to slow things down with anything. While they're not necessarily a disaster on their own, finding a lot of webdev droppings in a game like JSON and XML suggests the game was written by webdevs not gamedevs, and that means to expect strange performance problems as they're weak programmers.

The new patch is here. All my stuff is gone again. I'm most sour about the mining ship I rented for a week just yesterday (because that was one of the few things that still worked). I guess the joke is on me for making such a long-term investment :)

And yet, it's a bit like a trainwreck adventure park. You get to honk the horn and flick all the switches, there's some cool shiny stuff in there and some fun to be had in small doses. All the while gawping and muttering "oh the future humanity...". But I still come to look at it every day ;) (That will fade. I'm new in SC and the shiny wore off soon enough)

3.20 Inventory patch was more like:

kraqw00bh4qb1.gif

Just another 'Good news! No wipe!' patch ;)

I came into 3.20 missing some aUEC purchased ships, and nearly all my purchased ship components (drives, weapons, etc.).

This patch wiped out the rest of them. Only pledge ships remain, with their various bugs (names that don't appear, broken doors, etc.)

Essentially all the in-game grinding I've done is gone, and this is not the first patch this has happened.

I get that it's an alpha, and I get we're testing stuff. I've been here since the kickstarter.

But don't tell me it's unintended, and then break it further saying it's fixed.

Org mates / friends who play are reporting losses mostly as well. Nobody got anything back (aUEC ships or purchased components, armor or weapons).

I don't understand how anyone can defend this anymore.

Was cool until I died then couldn't use inventory so now I've been stuck on microtech naked.

This is really funny because I actually gained a ship that I never bought before. I had the pledge c8x Pisces, but when I signed in like a week or two ago I had a drake corsair. Definitely not complaining 😂

EDIT: Ah the Corsair is the 'ship showdown' prize for everyone for a short while. (Lots of players talking about how their missing ships got 'swapped' for it ;))
