Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Eventually you answer the call:

"Good day to you sir, how are you today? I hope that God blesses you today. I am calling from CIG office in California and I am sorry to tell you your Squadron 42 account has been hacked. Pls allow me to talk you through downloading a remote access client to your PC so our expert agents can fix your Squadron 42."

You should also check out the presentation about base building - you can tell Chris has been playing Starfield (with a side of ED's laser miners).

edit: ooohh, twitch embed just worked 🤗

Starting work on it in 2024 ...

Sadly they don't appear to have stolen invented the inter-outpost shuttles - which are a highlight of SFs outpost (for me).

The saucer hub gave me NMS vibes too ;)

But yep, definitely a Starfield kick up the butt there.

Sorry, I watched it back. 12 months was for everything presented before the Squadron section. I updated my comment.

If I were CR, I would never give a date again. And I guess with no publisher on his back he won't have to.
Which is hilarious, as the base building was in the previous section and included in the "in the next 12 months" Roberts comment. But it doesn't start development until next year.

I LOVE star citizen.

SQ42 in beta 🥰
They probably aim for christmas 2024 for the release.

I won't talk about the rest, as you seem a little tense. A priori everything was bad, the new techs presented already obsolete and most of the videos were faked 😏

Personally, I'm very, very happy with this CitizenCon.

Yeah Mike was like "What is THAT?!" when the mining rig appeared.

Elite Dangerous, I mumbled.

Like the new entering supercruise tunnel, the sudden 'pop' out of supercruise (weirdly without seeing the planet approaching slowly?), etc.

Never been done before.

R&D is done, Rastar is done and engineering/ressource greatly advanced. Rastar was the main and the most complex element needed for base building.

That looks to me to be very thin gruel, the kind of stuff I'd expect to see very early days from a very recently announced 'coming soon' game seeking backers from a startup studio. Yes it's pretty but it's also almost entirely content and context free. See you in 12 to 18 months when there's something remotely fleshed out.

<cue huge cheering overdub from 'the audience'>

I'm confused. Why is the audience going wild over them just scrolling past a scene that could have come from any game made in the last couple of decades?

I will give it points for realism though. 3 workmen NPC just stood around doing nothing. They got that detail spot on.

Visual dreams.txt.

They even seemed pleased when they had run out of pre-rendered footage and just showed grey box designs of buildings and vehicles. Won't be long now.

Lol. Most games now will announce their intended release date about a year out so they can start to ramp up the hype and build sales (and discourage other games from shipping at the same time). If Chris thought there was any chance of it coming out in '24 they would have announced it. Or at least added it back onto the store. Release is so far out they're waiting to see what price they can charge for it as the industry might bump up the norm.

They may be feature complete but by their own admission they are still looking at the mission flow and whether the game works / is fun. They aren't even into polish & bug fix - and we know how long that takes - SF needed an extra year and still had more than enough jank.
