I believe what they actually said was they would synchronise the transporter's annular confinement beam to the warp core frequency.
Make it so Number 2.

Well, from this class of artists, I'd say that such declarations are par for their shtick. In 2014, Chris, Erin, and Sandi all said SQ42 was close to completion and/or would be released later that year.
Would you declare that to be a bold statement from an artist as well?
SQ42 in beta
They probably aim for christmas 2024 for the release.
So Space Vandal combat animations are finally done?Yay, a Christmas present
PS they said it was in 'polish' Ant. With Beta to follow at some undetermined point...
Prediction: by xmas you will see a CIG video with chris and the senior devs discussing how they might start designing the features they've just said are coming within 1 year.Lol. Most games now will announce their intended release date about a year out so they can start to ramp up the hype and build sales (and discourage other games from shipping at the same time). If Chris thought there was any chance of it coming out in '24 they would have announced it. Or at least added it back onto the store. Release is so far out they're waiting to see what price they can charge for it as the industry might bump up the norm.
They may be feature complete but by their own admission they are still looking at the mission flow and whether the game works / is fun. They aren't even into polish & bug fix - and we know how long that takes - SF needed an extra year and still had more than enough jank.
In beta but not playable for the con!? Makes me wonder a tad, given their proven track record of mind boggling incompetence. I wonder if perhaps they are 'exaggerating' bigly again.SQ42 in beta

You can joke, the main techs needed for base building are done and working.I believe what they actually said was they would synchronise the transporter's annular confinement beam to the warp core frequency.
I won't talk about the rest, as you seem a little tense.
Albeit one a full decade late.Yay, a Christmas present

Handwavium can be used to make a problem disappear as irrelevant. Asspullium is more often applied when a completely made-up solution to a problem needs to be devised.A small question. What's the distinction between handwavium and asspullium? (Other than the ripe smell of 'never been done before') Is it a decade of non-delivery?
The most perplexing thing about this Citcon, amongst all the other business-as-usual blag, was the lack of a massive 'Hero ship' sale.
Presumably it reflects an acknowledgement internally that they just can't get anywhere near their big-ship backlog. (They mentioned the BMM team decamping en masse again apparently).
They've cut out the feature creep additions in the last few years, and now they've even cut out the 'sexy new concept shell' approach. At least on the largest end. Instead they seemed to go for:
- Making the Polaris punch above its weight by showing it 2-shotting an Idris
- Adding the Galaxy to the base building roster, alongside the Pioneer.
So those are still some top dollar ships with a new injection of FOMO. But backers do love their new ship smell. The tale of the funding ticker tape will be interesting. Wouldn't be surprised by a standard deranged jump in funding, but down on last year etc.
Oh man, these memories. Flying along the space whales in Starglider 2 on Amiga was indeed quite nice.Multiple planets, seamless transtions from space to ground, the ability to go underground, space whales... I do love Starglider 2.
Hmm... despite them having made a few million over citizen con, the post-con wallet fatigue appears to have kicked in early.

I guess another couple of days and it will be down to pre-con levels again.
How did this con compare to previous years in terms of splurging? Seems pretty low based on what I recall.
