Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Lol. Most games now will announce their intended release date about a year out so they can start to ramp up the hype and build sales (and discourage other games from shipping at the same time). If Chris thought there was any chance of it coming out in '24 they would have announced it. Or at least added it back onto the store. Release is so far out they're waiting to see what price they can charge for it as the industry might bump up the norm.

They may be feature complete but by their own admission they are still looking at the mission flow and whether the game works / is fun. They aren't even into polish & bug fix - and we know how long that takes - SF needed an extra year and still had more than enough jank.
Prediction: by xmas you will see a CIG video with chris and the senior devs discussing how they might start designing the features they've just said are coming within 1 year.

This is the way.

I believe what they actually said was they would synchronise the transporter's annular confinement beam to the warp core frequency.
You can joke, the main techs needed for base building are done and working.
You know, all the "CIG is using fancy words for non existing techs" are in fact not just fancy words...

The real tech discovery for me at this CitCon was Maelstrom and they displayed it already working in the SQ42 demo. CIG used to talk about techs before or at initial stage of R&D but now, they seem to talk about them only when the are already greatly advanced.

Wonder how many years it took them to come up with this idea.

The most perplexing thing about this Citcon, amongst all the other business-as-usual blag, was the lack of a massive 'Hero ship' sale.

Presumably it reflects an acknowledgement internally that they just can't get anywhere near their big-ship backlog. (They mentioned the BMM team decamping en masse again apparently).

They've cut out the feature creep additions in the last few years, and now they've even cut out the 'sexy new concept shell' approach. At least on the largest end. Instead they seemed to go for:
  • Making the Polaris punch above its weight by showing it 2-shotting an Idris
  • Adding the Galaxy to the base building roster, alongside the Pioneer.

So those are still some top dollar ships with a new injection of FOMO. But backers do love their new ship smell. The tale of the funding ticker tape will be interesting. Wouldn't be surprised by a standard deranged jump in funding, but down on last year etc.

Yeah, they missed a golden opportunity to add another concept ship for a gameplay feature that doesn't exist. They could have made millions more off the marks.

Hmm... despite them having made a few million over citizen con, the post-con wallet fatigue appears to have kicked in early.

I guess another couple of days and it will be down to pre-con levels again.

How did this con compare to previous years in terms of splurging? Seems pretty low based on what I recall.

They're not even selling the 'Hold the Line' t-shirts...

Honestly their monetization is really off the ball this Citcon. Very odd.

Would have at least have expected land claims to be riffling.
