Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So perhaps CryEngine is not a problem but rather certain "game developers". I do have BeamNGDrive and it is a fun driving game.

A good cook can take basic ingredients and transform them into a delicious meal. A bad chef can turn those ingredients into an unappetizing mess. It appears that Chris Roberts is such a Lethal Chef that he can take those same ingredients and transform them into toxic waste.

So cargo elevators / instanced hangers will def be out within 6 months... (place your bets ;))

They're delayed because the instancing and transit sides had stability issues which could make the game unplayable...

'To be completely honest...' team restructuring, personnel changes, and changes to 'vision and direction' have also impacted on it.

The rate at which these guys are offering excuses is just embarrassing.

3.23, described as one of the largest patches ever, is now just essentially graphics stuff, laughably bad "fauna" things and another iteration of the flight model that most everyone seems to hate, and that should have been completed many years ago.

All these cancellations and delays are probably good for Chris Roberts list of content promised for "the next 12 months" back in October. It is already almost May.

I love the "don't worry you won't have to wait 6 months for this"... See you in 6 months to debrief on this...

But seriously, is this leak or a live, confirmed change?

It's player info from the 3.23 PTU. And yeah CIG confirmed ship price bumps were coming:

Vehicle Prices Balance Pass:
Ships are something to be proud of, so the prices need to reflect that status. The new prices are based on a few factors:
  • Size - A bigger ship requires a greater volume of materials to be built and is, therefore, more expensive.
  • Manufacturer - Some manufacturers use better-quality materials (Origin), better-performing components (Mirai), and even alien technology (Esperia), all of which come at a premium.
  • Focus - In the same way a tank is more expensive than a tractor, military vehicles or those developed for competition are more expensive than civilian or industrial vehicles.
This is only the first pass at the pricing, and we will continue to adjust it to ensure it aligns with evolving in-game dynamics and any mechanics that affect the way the vehicles behave, like Master Modes.

Was chatting about the prison design with our dev friend and they were absolutely savaging it. The lack of 'teach, practice, master', especially in the final stages, with the punishing second hole in the stairs, the kill volume after falls rather than recovery paths etc. (And just, like, mazes being bad, and such ;)).

Their opinion was that it was just flat out bad design, but I can't help but suspect there's been conflicting demands from on high:

A) Fill it with gameplay!
B) Don't forget that it should be a punishment...

End result = gameplay which trolls you...
