I still believe they can miss that ;)

(PTU cluster-launch late Dec, 3.22 style ;))
Well, let's wait to see what's in it first...

Indeed. 4.0 is secondary for CIG after all.

Their priority is to avoid the Calders exercising their Q1 2025 put option to recall their returns. And for that all they need is a bright and shiny SQ42 video and a SQ42 release window announcement for 2025, which will make the Calders believe a fat wave of cash is headed for them.

It does not matter if SQ42 is in reality ready or not. All that matter is that CIG would have 3 more years to milk SC before the last 2028 put option window.

They would need plans for 2026 and 2027, too, to keep the average up and above what the 2025 option would be worth, though?
1.0 can't be that far behind.

I would love to see someone look at that mail more closely and confirm that it was plausibly sent by CIG and was not just a drive-by whaling attempt by a nigerian prince who happened to sit on some surplus military carriers :)

Edit: yeah, it's most probably real
Oh snap! I was totally getting Nigerian Prince vibes off that letter.

They need to up their game a bit. Here's some ideas for free.

Dear Commando, we have uploaded malware on your PC and taken control of your webcam. We have hours of footage of you pleasuring yourself to images and video of space chariots. Why not get the real thing and buy a Kraken! Skip the middleman!

Dear Commando, We have detected a charge on your credit card indicating that you have purchased a Kraken! Please say this is real and not a joke! Please!

Dear Commando, Your Kraken is being delivered to your hangar as we speak. I hope you know you are ripping me off with this special deal, don't tell anyone else about it. Just confirm your Credit card details here....

Well, only if Chris was aiming to actually pay the Calders back which, according to the 2022 CIG UK accounts statements published not long ago, does not seem to be the plan. And beyond 2028 there would be no further obligations at all. Either way, and more realistically imo, 3 years is plenty of time for Chris to organize a plausible exit and ride into the sun with the many millions he and his family have squeezed out of players all these years.

Another possibility is that the Calders may have renegotiated their returns to become a regular series of payments from revenue, loan style, instead of the known one off put option. If that was the case then all bets are off, but SC and SQ42 would then have a consequently lowered based of resources, staff and money to be used in their development.

Wow, look at this, the "testers" are gaining class awareness!

Now they're getting uppity.
has there ever been a discussion of forming a Community Council, where for example 12 members of the community from these forums, work closely with CIG when it comes to problems related to ships and general quality of life mechanics?

Never liked the idea of community councils. The people who want to be on them don't tend to be representative of the community in general, instead being the most hardcore players in one way or another, no-lifers whose only interest is the game becoming what they want it to be.

The Admiral's club being a case in point...more of that amongst the star citizen peasantry? That would be akin to allowing the unwashed to form a trade union

Definitely not, and damn their impertinence :)

That aside, if those uppity serfs are all so keen on being part of a secular group with some small measure of input into development, they can apply to join Evocati. It's been an option for anyone willing to put some serious hours of their free time into testing for little to no recognition or reward since 2016. It's like they all want a say without putting any effort in to earn it 🤷‍♂️
