Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I'll have a look...but I think I already melted my Galaxy jpeg for store credit... or CCU'd it to something else that's currently flyable...or had a decent loaner ship...one of those options. I shuffle stuff around so often I tend to forget what I have in the hangar these days :)

It's never a case of spending money I haven't already spent for me...besides the odd $10 or $20 here and there for cosmetics. Like most of us who've been around star citizen a while and are compulsive ship-shufflers, it's all about store credit. Very few of us long termers would even contemplate the newbie fascination with CCU cash chaining to some more expensive jpegs, we've spent what we're going to spend on ships, melting, buybacks and store credit CCU's is the store citizen mini-game we all play 🤷‍♂️

I bet a lot of Zeus were upgraded to Starlancers without even taking it out of the hangar once. Poor thing. It made it so quick from concept to flyable only to get melted again immediately.

John Crewe confirms... don't trust anything presented at Citcon ;)

Hey,

We'd planned to talk more about this at IAE (as thats generally where we give big updates across manufacturers) but a lot of people are discussing this very topic at the moment so want to add some clarification in advance:
  • There are no current plans to have a base building module for the Galaxy, that doesnt mean there never will be but there is nothing concepted, planned or in the production schedule. The Starlancer BLD will be the ship you can build Large structures with when base building is available ingame.
  • The only confirmed module in addition to the ones on the pledge store is the Manufacturing module, the general rule of thumb for all things here is unless its on the pledge store or available ingame treat it as speculative.
  • The Perseus is the next RSI capital ship in production (instead of the Galaxy) purely down to the greater percentage of shared assets with Polaris.
Hope that clears up some confusion around the matter and if scheduling/filming format allows we will discuss more around IAE.

This latest Galaxy nonsense reminds me of all the Carrack owners who CCU'd to the never-to-be-heard-of-again Odyssey a couple of years back...I was one of them strangely enough...but a couple of $0 store credit CCU shufflings later, that Odyssey is now a Polaris :)

lol, so let me get this straight:

CIG announces a ship that can build bases and starts selling it in CitCon 2023.

In CitCon 2024 CIG:
  • Now says the 2023 ship no longer has base building capability
  • Announces a new ship that can build bases that may be more expensive than the 2023 one, forcing all 2023 buyers to spend more money
I mean, you cant make this stuff up 🤣 a gold mine of bait & switch this 1.0!

It definitely feels like the trend for big ship concepts now is:
  • 'Sensibly' pitch big ships with no new USP feature / heavy scope creep. Just new arrangements of existing features.
  • Never get out of concept, because it's still a massive art job.
  • Outclass the one from a few years back with new concept...

Ah the great pleasure of spending money. CIG on top of the game here it seems. (Just melt!)
The house always wins of course...but there's ways of skirting around Ci~G's permanent jpeg concepts without spending any more than you already have. With the actual game having been permanently broken and unplayable since the 3.17 patch, we've got to find something to play...store citizen can be as much fun as doing box missions when you think of it :D

Oh no it's kinda worse. They'd already sold the Galaxy as this 'everything' ship, due to its modularity:

They just announced a base building module for it at Citcon 2023. Then put it on sale again ;)

(But now claim, hey, until the module goes on sale you shouldn't make silly assumptions. Like believing detailed stage presentations ;))

Yeah I think if you've written off the cash as spent it's a great system for delving through the full mountain of jank available ;)

It's only for anyone who goes looking for a refund that it becomes some convenient gum in the gears for CIG ;)

It's always been my honest advice for anyone who belatedly (and stupidly) gets into a spending habit with SC, go for the refund any way you can, there are always options and you're infinitely better out than in with the way things have always been heading with Ci~G.

Most of us old timers are just going with the flow, we've spent the cash...now lets see what further dramas can happen in the ever repeating 2 year cycles of continuous and ever inventive lies :)
