Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

What's different this time is that the "Dream" is dead.. a big reason why they were able to sell so many jaypeg's is becasue of the "Dream". when the plan for the game is vague people end up "dreaming" the most insane things and basicly selling themselvs on the game, its why they have been so vague about the plan of the PU throughout the development. However when they revealed the entire definite plan for the PU, it killed the dream for a lot of people and the blowback on spectrum right now is the result.

That's true, but there are soooo many dreams. The 'explore the galaxy' and 'solo captain' guys just hit a wall, for sure. But the 'build your trade hub' / 'explore the planets' / 'win the org war' guys just got a big boost.

And CIG can always spool up more dreams ;)

How long before:

Guys, NPC crew are absolutely still on the table. Nothing is off the table. In fact, we're even adding more tables.

Expect to see the first NPC crew in Solar System 6...

Anything you want but not in 1.0 will come after 1.0, promised. Nothing gets ever cancelled in SC. Everything will come in good time.

When, you ask? May I interest you in this here beautiful Idris?

, which is putting Squadron 42 on hold. People's patience are getting thin, they just dont have the time for another 5+ years of development without anything to show in the PU ( the thing that people actually care about, and not the 4/10 moviegame that they showed at Citizen-Con with Bethesder tier dialogue )
Jesus I hope they don't do that. given the PvP switch has been taken out and now there are only 5 planets i fear SC will be a typical gankfest like in say GTAV. S42 (or a spiritual successor to wing commander) is why I backed and even more so now I am banking on that likely being where I get my monies worth from.

it's also a waaay easier product to develop so I would counter why delay the "easy" thing to work on the hard one

SaltEMike has been over in an Ashes of Creation stream looking forward to that going live in a few hours as he backed that as well as SC.

It's a completely different game to SC as it is an MMO that was kickstarted many years ago, has an opinionated creator, is nowhere near completion, and recently announced that they have a new solution to server meshing (that currently doesn't work). Recent reports are that it is very broken. And the fans are obsessed.

It will be nice for him to have a change from SC :)

(He seemed annoyed that SC has another 4.0 Evo the same time, will be interesting to see if he streams either game.)

The Starlancer MAX was tactically placed at that price point just to prevent the predicted Corsair to Max CCU happening...I found a way around it through having a broad price range of previously CCU'd LTI tokens in my hangar just for that purpose, so did many other serial shufflers...but like them, I'm still stuck with a broken Corsair until either Ci~G fix it... or more likely, something else pops along to make CCU'ing it more attractive.

The melt price always depreciates from the sale price...sales taxes, VAT etc being involved at the point of sale, along with Ci~G's blatant devaluation. They treat the melt process like a second hand car market, a ship loses it's value the minute you take it out of the store.

Like I've mentioned, the ship shuffling can be fun sometimes as long as just playing along with the CCU 'game' is exactly where your head is at, you certainly won't be making a profit, saving money or even making your money back...the house always wins :)
Honestly sounds terrible. Buy & trade MTG cards, at least there's a profit in it if you play your cards right.

GTA5 would be a dream (you can turn off PvP). The whole project will end up like DayZ as a battle royal style pseudo shooter. Not that i think we will ever see Space Stations build by Players in this game. So far there are 0 player placed objects in the game that survive a crash or patch/fix. Or maybe they are going for that big Rust crowd. I really like how a bit of crafting makes the Game like Star Wars Galaxies or EvE. These guys don't play games that is for sure.

Becasue the "Hard" one is what generates the actual funding that the company relies on, 99% of the funding that CIG has gotten over the years is for Star Citizen and not for Squadron 42. Its about keeping the company running, remember everybody already Owns Squadron 42.

I hear you'r saying "Easier product" but i think in reality its been far harder to develop than Star Citizen, like its a filthy cutscene limited narrative game that has had about 500+ people working on it for about 10 years +.

CIG's showing itself to be a master at nickel and diming, first the Atlas and now this.. They are doing everything except the thing that would solve "the most" of their current problems, which is putting Squadron 42 on hold. ......
Well, that is CIG (room) 101 right there.

Reportedly commit the majority of their resources to X for a few years, and when the fan base gets restless, and things are showing no meaningful progress, announce to wild acclaim putting their focus (back) onto Y. For a few years. And repeat.

In other news, they have always been at war with Eastasia, which is double-plus not ungood.

As an aside, is reducing a universe of 100 systems down to five the same as making the 'verse into the 'e?
