Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

That puzzle is great - they found a clue yesterday that makes it sound like the final reward might be a new ship (CiG run an event for a ship sale? Unheard of!)

Ah, wasn't there a Christmas present (or hunt?) some years ago which was basically a token that allowed you to buy something from their store for money?

He tried it. He did New World and Farm Simulator and some other stuff.

His viewing numbers didn't do so well.
Diversifying content if you rely on a single game is a tedious, long and difficult process. I am nowhere near his numbers, but I still have a big difference when I stream anything else than Elite. After 5 years I get about 50-60% of my regular viewers on a non-Elite live stream, with some notable exceptions to other space games, as they tend to attract a few more, and Star Citizen actually often gets me more viewers than Elite since quite a long time now.

Other streamers seems to do fine as long as they play games in the same ganre their main audience like, FPS players plays FPS games, exctraction shooter plays extraction games. Looks to me llike the problem with Star Citizen is the fan are so antagonistic to other space games it leaves these streamers no where else to go.

There are some very arty fan pumpkins this year, as always. But I like these ones...

As mike said on stream couple of days ago.. most people on the Evocati are just complete idiots , like how does he not know that you can just recopy account to fix these kinds of issues, its been 10 years....
You'd think that they would invite people that actually know the game but really they seem to be inviting streamers and the whales

Genuinely sad story

Fidelity gameplay at its finest

Someone else now asking about Soulsinger

Happy 10 year anniversary for a game over 12 years in development and still a buggy alpha!

They do note though its 10 years since the initial planned release:

So this month 10 years ago SC beta and Squadron 44 were planned for the initial release.

Meanwhile ED is celebrating 10 years of being a released game.

Will everything be finally in the game and I can return from my inactivity or will there be some minor stuff missing?

🤣

8 years of evocati, they were formed in 2016. There's a couple of evocati members past and present on this very forum believe it or not :)

Being a part of evocati used to give a sense of achievement and purpose in the early years when it was taken seriously by a few who genuinely believed what they were doing was helping, not only the development, but ultimately the folk who were going to be playing what you had rigorously tested when the patches went live. After a few years fighting through broken build after broken build, downloading broken client after broken client sometimes 2 or 3 times a day in the old days... then gradually seeing most of the bugs you dug out being ignored then persisting through PTU phases and then on to live as Ci~G's marketing snakes increasingly kept pushing still broken builds because of marketing event deadlines, it kinda puts what you think you're achieving there into perspective.

Sometimes...only sometimes, you get to feel a small tinge of achievement if it goes well through EPTU...at the end of the day, it's not like evocati are paid, rewarded or even appreciated for their time and effort, besides a cursory nod or two from the devs we were trying to help..

It's not fun or any sort of privilege... or even as most folk wrongly assume, just a way to get an early sneak peek into upcoming features in the game by volunteering and sacrificing your time (and effort) testing EPTU builds. You can't buy your way in there, you have to earn, and continually justify your inclusion if you want it. It's tedious, soul destroying and can be entirely tiresome, believe me. The early client builds evocati are testing are by a level of magnitude far more horrendously broken and way less functional than the consequent PTU or live patches. Over time, it can burn you out on the whole idea of playing star citizen socially or for pleasure after you've been doing it for a few years. By the time the patches make it through to live, most days you can't even be bothered firing the game up.

Absolutely my experience playing the relatively bug free beta of Roller-coaster Tycoon. By the time the game was finally released I had fully burned myself out.

This was not my experience with ED, nor is it with Valheim (although the Ashlands release isn't much fun for me).

The free fly events in SC don't interest me at all as I have no intention of spending a penny with cig to perpetuate this cluster mess. If, upon release, it's a decent game, with more than five systems, then I may reconsider. No breath-holding advisable on that front.

It's an interesting bug in it's own right though. And impervious to char reset in live:

That’s happened to me twice this lasts live build. Character repair didn’t even help. After starting logged out for over 30 minutes both times I just gave up. Once I checked a few hours later and I was still stuck. The second time I came back the next day and I was fixed.

Just another ghost in the machine. (I woulda assumed authority fumble if it was just evo, but sounds like it's an existing issue).
