Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

They're all able to make planetfall though, aren't they?

I think the idea is that they can, but they can't do anything there. (And I believe exit velocity is intended to be a pain for all of the big bois).

IE if the bigger Hull spindles are expanded with cargo then they can't land etc, nor load up at ground bases. So there's been talk of SRV taxi-ing of cargo from orbit etc etc.

Currently, though, it's all just talk and bug-splosions ;)

Next "Best bugs" video when? :)

Genuinely surprised they've not looked into it on such a scale, as they'd probably make big bank from folk wanting the equivalent of amphibious assault ships

Meanwhile, CIG making a killing...

I get 10 fps running around NB so I’ve started to backspace out of there just because of how much of a struggle it is for me to get through. Sometimes it drops to 1fps
Same. On some servers it's a slideshow as soon as I leave the hab area. Performance has always not been great at IAE locations but this year is a new level.

Some players are gonna play that way. I can't count the number of games where players would willingly abuse respawn mechanics as a method for fast travel, or to evade other game mechanics.

I still remember that during the ED Alpha, players would rather pay the rebuy than actually repair the integrity of their ship, because repair costs were scaled by rebuy, and Alpha players enjoyed a steep discount. Frontier naturally nerfed all operational costs into into insignificance, rather than deal with the root of the problem: exponential price growth of ships and modules for linear capability gains.

Given CIG´s track record of monetization abuse, there is very little chance this is just a "mistake". CIG has more than likely reviewed the impact of this price increase and conclude that the existing broken CCU chains can report them a significant amount of sales due to extra spend required for some chains. I.e. references to the new F7C-R and S(uper Hornet?) MkII apparently purchasable by a mere $5 with the right CCU chain that would now not be possible anymore, etc.

The thing is, with these kind of moves CIG is not just alienating the regular player, but also non player grey market speculators and money launderers whose main goal is precisely to optimize returns and which probably represent a big chunk of current sales. If CIG squeezes too hard and loses the trust of this group, sales can drop really quickly.

Just today more ninja price increases breaking more ccu chains, the Khartu-Al.

One of the largest SC streamers, Knebel, weighs in with +500 upvotes in spectrum in just 1 hour:

It´s getting very awkward for CIG to ignore. After this I dont think CIG is going to take much longer to rationalize another excuse or even pedal back.

Wouldnt be surprised if this news jumps to the press. Actually it would be really good if the market at large was made more aware of SC´s disgraceful grey market, and all the speculative and money laundering implications that probably drive a big chunk of sales.

I popped into the game to check on the children

...First time ever I've been aboard either of them to be fair, got totally lost inside the ship of 1000 doors Polaris

Hold on, IAE goes on for how long? 12 or 13 days???

Talk about milking backers for everything they can.

Also, this is sus.

Tens of thousands of new accounts created during a sales event, for a 12 year old buggy alpha with no release date? I wonder how many of these are alt accounts from existing backers doing funky stuff with referrals or something.

Day 3 and IAE is ~1mil (~18%) down on last year so far apparently...

They best hope the Polaris pops...

E: The gripes are interesting. Overpriced starter, unannounced price hikes, broken ccu chains, no 'Fat Mirai' novelty ship, crappy noob experience, etc
We keep referring to the funding tracker as if it was a proven trustworthy figure. Reminder this is a non audited self published CIG piece of "info". I would be extremely surprised if CIG ever let it show too bad of a figure.

Yes, we know, but there is always the counterpoint of if CIG were massaging the figures too much, then they would already be out of business.
