Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Ladies and gentlemen and fellow sandwiches, it’s only 2023! These are the very earliest stages of development, but in just a couple of years production will really ramp up and punch above it’s weight!

In these early days, many of those who don’t understand development might find it helpful to take a break from the full-throated aspects of implementation, and instead take a well earned breather by simply enjoying the current tier-0 mechanics of pledging cash to support a studio that really needs all the help it can get. Every minute you are not donating money, a handbag goes homeless. Please, think of the handbags.

What's shocking (or not so shocking considering the history here) is they are basically saying they don't know, despite working on this for at least 6 years.

And SSM is still something they are "aiming for"... SSM, not dynamic server meshing, what is really needed, but the static version, which is basically each area has its own server with loading screens or similar separating them so entities can be passed between. In short, they still don't know how to do something that other online games solved decades ago.

There won’t be as much need to make money then. At that time, the world will no longer work on localized currency systems. Widespread use of fusion reactors will lead to a new era of unlimited free power which - coupled with the ever increasing evolution of AI - will lead to significant leaps in technology. This will eventually lead to the merging of human consciousness with quantum computers and we will begin to exist in a pure energy state as nigh-infinite beings. This will allow us to witness numerous great scientific and technological advancements of our species, but also the ultimate demise of our solar system and everything in it. Including ourselves. Very sadly, this happens just one year away from the release of Server Meshing and Pyro.

Do people really still believe that not having a publisher is better ??

On the SC refunds sub there are a couple of faithful who hang out.

Had a back and forth with one of them not long back about how its been done many times before, so they started with how everything can be persisted, never been done before, so i countered how games only persist what needs to be persisted, and we went round in circles with them basically saying, yes, SC will only persist what needs to be persisted, and how its CIG's genius that will make it happen, never been done before.

CIG don't even have a clue what needs to be persisted and what doesnt.
