I was thinking this was a nice event to let ppl win the ship - but it's a ship sale isn't it? 'Win' a gold ticket and you get the chance to buy the ship for $$$$

You can also rent it for 24h with the ticket

From posts on Spectrum they don't sound difficult to find (edit: gold ones at least). Very common is my impression.

There is a limited number of platinum cards that will gift a ship to anyone who takes it to a dealer alive. But you'll have to shoot a developer in the head for it(*):

each platinum license will be carried by a Star Citizen developer in-game, and the only way to get it is to take it from them. Even if you manage to do this, it can be stolen in turn from you, and as soon as you have one in your hands, players across the server will be alerted to your location

(*): virtually, in-game. Do no shoot anyone in the head!

Yeah ok. So this is just another regular full on sale. For a ship that was described as not sellable and primarily available only at the end of the SQ42 campaign.

Gold is just a colour. It only is meant to suggest a rarity that doesn't exist. Exclusivity where there is none.

They've been docile so far and I don't think they get teased with mobile app news like Blizzcon ppl.
