Some additional thoughts on the financials thingie:
Publishing, community and marketing alleged spend
2020: $15 millions
2021: $25 millions
2022: $30 millions
I strongly suspect a generous chunk of this goes for streaming / content creator view botting services, and to direct or indirect funding of some content creators, as was possibly the case for Rexzilla in the past etc.
According to CR last letter, more than a year ago, the actual number of SC players is still a very small fraction of players than in other competitor games (1.8 million paying accounts, which likely represent a much smaller number of real players given that owning multiple accounts seems to be a very common occurrence in SC), and I therefore strongly suspect CIG is keeping SC content creator and streaming stats high artificially with "marketing" money.
By the way, no letter from CR for 2023 yet? That is surely good news for SC.

Rex was quite obvious. I suppose CIG has learned to channel their "marketing" money a bit more wisely to content creators of choice. I highly doubt Rex was an isolated incident.I'm putting it down mainly to the absurd YT advertising run they went on. Plus the server costs of running their increasingly daft stack of test servers perhaps (which seemed to put strain on their system during the Pyro run in particular).
They seem to feed their streamers with give-away ships instead. Which is free
(I guess they might have slapped some incentives down for a few bigger YTers / Twitchers to take a run at it though. Haven't really seen a dedicated Rex equivalent pop up though. Let alone a bunch of faces that might explain the uptick).

It would be interesting if that was the case, as my next question would be whether this kind of 'boosting' would count as paid promotion/sponsorship, which should be disclosed by the content creator. Some additional thoughts on the financials thingie:

They are building an engine capable of things we have never seen before in real time gaming.
This project is actually coming to fruition now. A lot of these comments would have been valid 1-2 yrs ago. Recent SC updates, single player experience and seamless Mesh Server universe, show this is actually going to come to fruition.
A lot of the people here won't understand it until they see it firsthand and start to understand what they are building.
Pile of poop game. As many times as I was dumped in space by my damn crap craft… I’d rather roll around in barbed wire with Charlie Sheen than to play another second of that buggy flip of a game.

Troll? Reads like something written by marketing.
Still churning. All the SC world is here...

lol, i wonder what other absolutely crazy things you believe.... you believe in bigfoot? or i guess yeti would be more appropriate.
Well, if you really believe Rexzilla was "organic" and not linked to CIG funds at all then you need to get rid of that bridge they sold you! And if you don´t believe it then why would you think CIG might have stopped there?lol, i wonder what other absolutely crazy things you believe.... you believe in bigfoot? or i guess yeti would be more appropriate.
Whatever the case, 2016 is going to be a huge year for Star Citizen. It's the (newly) promised year of released and, as such, we should start seeing all of the separate components come together into the whole that we've been promised. By that time some people will have waited four years to play the game that they've already paid for, demonstrating with great effect the fact that crowdfunding is now a wholly accepted and, for some people, preferable way of dealing with creators and consuming their work.
Well now play the game.
What do you think SC spent its $30m marketing budget on in 2022?
It was an attempt to get you to post something more constructive than mindless insults. Figured it wouldn't work tho![]()
