$137 for a paintjob is way too much.

Here comes our regular reminder that even CIG´s leadership has candidly admitted that they do not give a monkey´s rear about delivering a broken product and will likely not fix most of the game breaking issues we see:

"... you tend to focus on Class A crashing bugs as your priority. You know you can't let a game go out that's going to crash... but what we found of course is the players who are actually actively playing your game they can live with a lot of those stability issues if they know that fly here, click that button, do this thing the game crashes, well they just won't do it, they'll just avoid that"

- Carl Jones, COO of Cloud Imperium Games
They could have at least be creative and come up with lore about anomalies left over from the war that causes some strange things in the universe.

Interesting evo trip reports:

Server stability is def gonna be key for the new hangars working... elevators upon elevators...

The first few hours were rough. Constant server recovery or 30k. When the server recovered all kinds of things occur, freight elevator doesn’t work, storage access doesn’t work, doors, elevators, etc.

Storage access - apart from not having a search it works great. There is still a filtering bug, but it is very easy to move items from warehouse to the drawer, open the drawer and equip. Items bought with the quick buy function goes to the warehouse.

Hangars/Freight - between the server recovery and 30k I lost my hangar (no longer shows up in the elevator list). You can use the main Aesop to call a ship and you will then be assigned a size based on what you called. For instance, I lost my xl, called a c2 and was assigned a large. I was able to call up stor all box from the freight elevator, load it on my ship and fly to port tressler to look for a trolley.

One thing we experienced at new Babbage was elevator contention to get to personal hangars. There are like 8 elevators at new Babb, but it seems like when one person goes down, all elevators are pointing to that hangar instance. Meaning if person #2 tries to get to their hangar, they will only see person #1’s hangar as an option. We had to basically wait in line to get to our hangars. I’m sure that is a bug, because ain’t no way…

If you trespass you are yeeted out the hangar in 5 seconds.

Trolley - haven’t been able to test, because the damn things are impossible to find. Supposedly they are at seraphim, grim and pyro station. I checked orison, lorville, new bab and port tressler. They are supposed to be at dumpers and cargo decks, but they were not at dumpers a18 nor the cargo deck of everus harbor or pt. Also people in chat that had them said they weren’t working.

Cargo/Freight - I was able to buy at a mining outpost, but I wasn’t able to sell because of a 30k. The ship state was unknown back at home. Anyways buying was simple. Go to the commodity kiosk and select the local as the location, pick your commodity, choose a size and choose qty. then go to the freight manager terminal outside, lower the elevator, move the cargo from the warehouse to the elevator, raise the elevator and move the boxes to your ship. Small pads have one freight mgr terminal, and can fit up to 16scu boxes, the large pads have 2 freight manager terminals and can fit up to 32scu boxes.

Carry Lowered - there is a new keybind to carry lowered and new animation. The animation looks amazing and you can run while carry lowered

It's... quite rough. Lots of crashes. Sometimes server recovery kicks in, only to fully crash out a few minutes later. Other times, you can play for a bit, but get stuck or killed in random ways. I landed at Seraphim station and upon exiting my ship, found myself floating in EVA, able to clip through the station. Exited to menu. Woke up on the station, purchased some cargo, and found that none of the elevators to the hangars existed (neither did their panels), and so was permanently stuck on the station. It took me 90 minutes just to leave my home city due to the various issues with this build.
This one's probably going to be with us for a while.

Various edge cases and design queries on Spectrum...

I found things were working pretty well in the large hangar in New Babbage last night but the issues started when I flew to Port Tressler. I got a medium hangar assigned and landed fine but as soon as I left the ship there was no gravity or atmosphere. I also couldn't interact with the elevators to get out so I had to EVA through the doors and over to the pads to get in the station. On the way there I saw someone in a Connie trying to land on a pad and they were glitching straight through it. I then couldn't use the elevators when I got to the pad so logged out and back in again.

Got back into another server and tried calling the Corsair from the lobby as before that the elavator was showing a small hangar. Got to the elevator to a medium hangar and the Corsair wasn't there. Tried calling it from the hangar and I had to claim it as it was unknown. I thought I would call a C1 instead and when that came up it came up with the Corsair too, both smashing into each other and glitching into the pad. After sending them back down the hagar was unusable as the ASOP just hung on retrieving.

Three things are not working properly in this build: persistence inside the hangars (placing items or decorations after a server crash, CTD, or going to the menu and back to the PU leads to the disappearance of items and decoration props), calling ships or vehicles (which leads to falling into the void after a server error), and the ASOP in cities is broken (if there are too many players at the ASOP terminals, you can't call your hangar for some reason, and it leads to an auto-kick in 6 seconds, which takes you back to the ASOP again).

Not as off topic as it may seem...there's a spaceship in it ...somewhere :)

Anyways...I stopped asking intelligent questions about this when I saw the tank...

Already on my wishlist... along with Stalker 2... both eagerly awaited here, although Mrs PiLhEaD seems not to be sharing in my excitement, and keeps going on about the allotment needing weeding... <shrug>

Back on track, re: "they absoloutely do not do Agile development no matter what the claim"... ...well maybe not, but they've certainly mastered "Chaotic Development", using "Half Baked" methodologies.

Wow! Really? A game needs content!?

Blimey.... ....who'd have thought.

PS Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro Pyro

PPS Buy Pyro an Idris
To be VERY charitable to CI(G?), all those ship .JPEGs are, technically, content. They just aren't all gameplay content.

Meanwhile in the very stable PU...

This doesn't seem to be a classic station disappearance (of PTU / meshing test fame), where players all remain the same.

More like the game thinks he's in a medbed, so it teleports him back to it. Only it doesn't exist...

I hold that Agile has a sort of natural progression, which I think many observers of development processes will have noticed. Above Agile is Evasive, followed by Shifty, and at the peak of maturity you reach Dodgy. Cloud Imperium Thingy seem to have been pushing pushing themselves hard in this department.

This guy wrote an incredibly detailed trip report for 3.24.

This was my favourite bit...

- I retrieved my ship at Everest Harbor. It was said to be in my small hangar. When I arrived at the hangar the ship wasn't there. When I used the ASOP in the hangar to retrieve it, it showed it was there and when I clicked on retrieve it 'stored (the ship wasn't there)' my ship and then retrieved it. Then when the hangar doors were open; I tried to leave only to find out the hangar doors weren't open and I was killed.
