Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

From Mike's discord, one of the best "this is SC, really" videos I have seen in a while. It has it all. The SC segment starts at 1:59:42. Worth it, the whole segment... 😬

The co commentators remarks as the bugs and brokenness get more and more hilarious are the best part 😋

Thanks Viajero, funniest segment I've seen for ages. It's a long way in, but when they were already in hysterics and then the host-cultist said, "the train is here", I completely lost it... laugh-crying along with the hosts. :ROFLMAO:

Community Manager Calls Updates to Progress Tracker "Nearly Impossible" due to "Fluid" Priorities & Other Development Comments

"There is being fluid and then there is the inability to even communicate what the fundamental parts of your game will be like and what the core will be. "

I think the main reason these communications to the community are being misnderstood or misinterpreted is because Chris Roberts can't do his rubic cube hand motions to explain things. Without his hand language we'll never understand the greatness of whatever he's saying.

"They've always had a clear idea how they want ship cargo to look and function. The only thing they didn't was the container sizes, but the rest has always been the plan. "
"Depends on the ship, alot of the super early large ships got made for SQ42, it's the reason the reclamers cargo hold is badly made and the starfarer is like a fps lvl. As cargo got more work done the idea of what was needed got better. Alot of those early ships will need work done to them. "

Oh My Days!
No design document needed. Common sense? What's that?

This is such donkey manure.

The only way this could be the truth is if:

a) Things are insanely chaotic at CIG (quite possibly true) with Chris pulling people from one task to another willy-nilly.

b) They don't keep an internal progress tracker that could be easily redacted/converted for public viewing (also quite possibly true).

My suspicion is, part A, part B (they do have an internal one, but its a mess and out of date), and part C

c) The most transparent company ever simply don't want a true and accurate public reflection of progress for fear it will affect funding. Better to pump out another ISC full of waffle and non-promises from Jared to keep milking the suckers with hope of what he is talking about will eventually arrive.

Claims of the patch getting worse are overstated...

It started bad! ;)
In all these death videos I noticed the game switched to third person and pauses for a moment before the explosion. Is this ALWAYS like that? I figure it'll be a client side thing and should be pretty fast unless the game is so high fidelity and switch in perspective makes the computer choke?

Anyone ever played online flight sims called Fighter Ace, decades ago? There's usually a bunch of people on the server when I played and despite lag we managed to fly combat pretty well. That game felts a lot like what Star Citizen advertise itself to be. Large map, long travel time, different types of vehicles to play with, realistic performance and flight model and PVP combat. Also multi-crewed vehicles. Back then my idea of air combat was turn as fast as you can so I wasn't any good at dogfight, and usually hop on as tail gunners for other people or man the SPAA to defend airfields. That was the game I developed a lifelong hate for Spitfires. I don't know how they could fail so bad when they had a few games like that as examples.

Quite right! Do your own research, sheeple, and look at the great things CIG have actually delivered, the targets they've successfully hit and the extraordinary progress they've made!
