Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

CIG reckon it's an incidental site error...

We rolled out an emergency deployment in the last hour to fix an issue where the increased traffic (specifically the massive number of emoji reactions) was slowing down the Platform. The deployment introduced a new issue causing them to reset, or even show in the millions (see attached). Lovely timing, of course. The team is rolling back the deployment now.

(Which is only boosting positive reactions, during a massive pitchfork session  )

In fairness to the Idris performance space battles seem to be holding up ok, on streamer rigs and such.

Edge cases and unwinding servers are still gonna get interesting this patch though...

(Ongoing complaints of consta QT drops on certain routes also sound like server boundary shenanigans to me...)

Camural in his latest video suggest the blades thread is slow loading because of the number of votes/emojis.

I thought, that's sus. CIG are incompetent, but not so incompetent that the number of emojis can significantly affect the load speed of a thread.

So i went and took a look. Opened the thread... and waited, and waited... then i opened a random thread on spectrum, and it loaded almost instantly. Go back to the blades thread, its still trying to load.

This is a new level of incompetence for CIG (or Turbulent).

Anyway, here's Camural's latest on the topic.

Yay, finally the miserable-Mark-Hamill model gets its day...

Probably trying to make out the launch window.

Here's Pipeline's summary of today's GermanyCON

CON42 Main Panel with Jared and Thorsten Leimann,

Summary by @Joschi, edited by me
  • Jared says the June Patch will be "awesome",
  • The first glimpse/implementation of Engineering (not the full version, just partial implementation) and Fire Tech will arrive together.,
  • New kind of door scanner coming which denies entry if not wearing the proper clothing (Kill enemy NPC, put on their stuff and it will grant access), ISC about it in 2 weeks,
  • CIG working on refinery gameplay with updates to Station Refining coming soon, further updates coming with crafting and base building,
  • A door hacking/breaching mechanic will arrive with engineering gameplay,
  • Fire venting via opening doors is part of engineering gameplay,
  • Bullet penetration is being implemented for ballistics,
  • Life Support will be added later down the line,
  • Engineering arrives in Tech Preview in the PU and not just Arena Commander. The team is close to release it to Tech Preview; the data is ready just tweaking now,
  • Full rebalance of Items (health of components, stats etc) coming,
  • FPS Scanning will arrive as a tech preview first, as well as crafting,
  • PDCs hitting party members is a bug,
  • Ship Armor is part of the first engineering gameplay features arriving (mitigation for the Maelstrom system), mimicking the Maelstrom system before it arrives -> data driven,
  • Ship death is evolving to more boarding and deactivating, i.e., soft death will be more common and you'll need to board disabled ships to stop them from being repaired on the inside.,
  • Fires will happen exclusively in the interior of the ships, no forest fires etc.,
  • Hangar elevators: "We all want it. Next patch will be cool. But to manage expectations, we will not have EVERYTHING solved for that but we will at least be able to prove that we're [on the right track].",
  • Proper Combat ATLS coming seemingly next patch,
  • Regarding torpedo gameplay: the current behavior of torps is not what they want in the end. Right now they're balanced for the game as it exists today, so they exist in kind of a weird zone.

Engineering is gonna wreck players, ships and code in so many new ways.

(And then once more when they try and replace the Maelstrom-placeholder bits).

Good odds on server boundaries being the sites for many a boom and bereft pilot...

So desperate to spend money. Brainrot is real (or worms)

The Idris P is at $4,000 on the parallel market... these are the real winners of this artificial rarity.

Anyone else wonder if the traders have scripts to buy up limited things on sale, then put them on the grey market to make bank from desperate whales?
