Text in bold - my bolding. LOL, yeah, sure mate, its all coming.

Text in italic - my italics...erm... italicization? Italicification? No idea. Anyway.... yeah, of all the things to complain about.
It's interesting that the people who do this sort of theory crafting always put themselves in the role of captain, but they are so sure there will be plenty of players happy to fill the roles of navigator, cook, floor mopper etc.

The 10000 posts thread length was a limit of the old forum software, so this thread should be safe for a while longer, as long as it stays civil.

Are you saying that even the forum has managed to have a better update than Star Citizen in 8 years, harsh but fair ;)

The highly anticipated project soon became the laughingstock of the nation and received more and more funding in order to not "lose" the whole initial investment.

Yeah, that may be news in Germany mate but over here in the UK thats the base expectation. :)

I did see it, didnt look very 'modern', more 'Bauhaus' to my eye.

On a different note the new german airport in Berlin (BER) has opened. This event hasnt received a lot of attention due to the current global situation but its a milestone. I note it here because there are certain similarities to the Star Citizen trainwreck.

BER was scheduled originally for 2011 and started development in 2006. It soon became appareant that the project was too ambitiious and the involved building company not competent enough to hold the release date or fulfif its target goals. The highly anticipated project soon became the laughingstock of the nation and received more and more funding in order to not "lose" the whole initial investment.

While the years werent filled with mainstream news about it, germany received occasional updates which all included new horror stories about misdesign, unexpected "blockers" and general delays. The last few years the BER was a running joke among germans so picture my surprise when I read that it opened on Nov 3rd 2020.

Of course....in a barebone state (only 1 terminal is finished) and development is expected to be ongoing until 2035!!!!

I wonder if Star Citizen will ever get to that point. BER missed its chance to become a new spotlight of german engineering and craftsmanship but at least its going to be open and working as intended.SC also missed its chance by now but has yet to prove if its ever going to be a game at all.l
Well BER at least was faster built than Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant in Finland. Started about same time, and project is still ongoing. Project customer's representative allegedly said that "Its the last time we will buy from Areva anything". Well maybe OL3 still manages to produce power to grid before Star Citizen launches :D

Well, I blame the tender offering ran by laymen. No offense, genders. But nice analogy. The laymen running the SC tender offer would be the backers in the kickstarter and early access scam victims. Of course kickstarter wash their hands in innocence too but they are essentially part of the problem, too by enabling fraudulent businesses. And SC isn't the only crowdfunded nollocks enabled by "crowd funding" - or should I say "sheep fleecing"?

I think cost overrun is quite a modern problem in many countries.

I see a certain group of people constantly bash the game for being almost devoid of game loops etc, I like to argue back that the players are meant to buddy up with friends and roleplay thus creating emergent gameplay. Literally, all that needs adding is a few more NPC mission givers, a slightly bigger market system, some better AI, exploitable fauna and a few more ships.

... goes on to write a wall of text detailing all sorts of meaningless roles for the countless minions this delusional captain imagines will be falling over themselves to join his crew, all of which require game loops which don't exist.

Never mind...Jorunn will sign him up for the yacht club so they can all compare dreams V reality.txt whilst sipping a nice Chianti on his bling-barge :)
